    If Rode wants to truly produce a pro wireless microphone system they’ll need to make it with replaceable batteries. While I do have a Wireless Go and think it’s a good wireless system I’m not going to buy another wireless system that doesn’t have batteries that I can easily replace, especially at the price point of the Wireless Pro.

    Great video, as always. With the log feature on the new iPhones I’m using more and more often my iphone to shoot some videos, leaving my sony A7IV at home; however because I’m recording to a SSD and iphone only have one usb-c port, I struggle to have good sound quality without having to add a hub and so on; So I think it would be really great to be able to connect my wireless pro mic directly to the phone without the need to use the receiver (like some of the competition already does - DJI). That would be a game changer.

    Will inbody noise canceling be added to compete with the DJI Mic 2? Also, does Gain Assist work well with the iPhone 15 Pro?

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  4 місяці тому +1

      Hey Justin, no plans to introduce active noise-cancellation on this device at this time. Instead, we'd recommend doing noise-cancellation in post-production. With regards to GainAssist, that feature works equally well on all devices that are compatible with the Wireless PRO, so yes, it will work wonderfully with your iPhone 15 Pro!

      @@rodemic May just wait for the Pro 2. I'm sure you'll do a big revamp to catch up to the DJI Mic 2. Also, the front facing Lav is odd. Would prefer omnidirectional or at least top down. Hopefully better form factor as well.

    What about when you have the auto-record feature turned on but then when you sit down to import the audio from a shoot and there are pieces missing? I had a shoot last week with six separate speakers. Only two of the six actually recorded using the auto-record feature. The mic had been placed back in the case between people but why or how would that have affected the files that had just been recorded and what is the technique to ensuring that, when using this always record your files complete and don't get lost or deleted on their own?

    • @rodemic

      Hey Chris, sorry to hear that you sat down to edit your shoot and there were bits missing from your shots. Obviously, any issues where data is lost is of huge importance to us, so we'd recommend you send a message to our support team here with all the details and they'll be able to figure out what's going on: rode.com/en/support/contact

    OK so I have been practising with this. I use the preset for my R5 and the direct to camera recording sounds great now when I do clip I bring in my 32 bit flow, audio sync it up and it sounds even better as it should. The problem is I’m am cranking the DB all the way up in post. From what I understand the 32 bit on board DB recording cannot be changed. Is that correct? I’m finding the DB input on the onboard recording to be low.

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  4 місяці тому

      Hey there @Soul_Visuals_Photography! As you mention, the output of the reciever to your camera can be changed (for example, using the preset, as you mentioned). However, there isn't an option to change the volume of the 32-bit float recording as that's not necessary due to the 32-bit float functionality of the Wireless PRO. While you may be "maxing out" the dB of your file in your post-production software, there may be another way for you to adjust the "loudness" of the file so it meets your needs.

    I'm a fan of this product and own it, but not a fan of it's reflective surface and big visible branding. That, to me, disqualifies the 'Pro' moniker. This presenter, the last time I saw her, wore the transmitter on the outside and it flashed the studio lights into the camera as she moved. That, and also having big, visible branding! Not cool and I said so in the comments. Here in this video is the same presenter but this time using a clip-on mic the same color as her top so to hide a transmitter that is unfit to wear on the outside. I said in the comments at the time (about the transmitter flashing lights into the camera) "Who approved this video?" I mean, how can you call yourself a video producer when you let camera flashing take place? And now, even worse, Rode has retouched the video of the transmitter at the 20-second mark! Suddenly, the transmitter has no reflection and no branding? An attempt to fool you? An attempt to trick you into buying the product and only THEN discovering the problems of reflectivity and branding after you've bought it? NOT ETHICAL! When I'm forced to buy another product because the batteries in the Rode (and in some competing products) are not replaceable, I'm hoping you'll have a feature-equal competitor who knows how to really make their product suitable for pro's. You know, people who know well that you don't flash studio lights into the camera and show big-letter branding! My project is not YOUR video to infect with Rode branding!
    I hear you. You're saying the Rode Pro product can be hidden. But, that kills the 'run-'n-gun capability so many UA-camrs use! Many video producers interview people on the move and in a crowd. To have to stop and hide the transmitter if you don't want the attention-stealing focus of having reflectivity and branding to be seen, it kills the quick sound-bites capability.
    So, here's an opportunity to have a great upgrade product. One that has a replaceable battery and flat-black body color. No reflectivity and no visible branding. Maybe have a sliding cover to hide the status lights.
    Finally, who was the manager that thought it was a good idea to have a plug-in lav mac that, while locking it to the transmitter, is UN-locking it from the plug of the lav mic? My wife lost a whole day's shoot because she was confident that the mic was locked into the transmitter. Yes, the RING was locked to the transmitter, but the action of locking one way was UN-locking from the mic cable! I cannot image who at Rode thought that was a good idea.

      Hey there @mrdonsmith, thanks for your thoughtful comments here. We appreciate the feedback about the look and styling of our products, their battery systems, their status lights, and the locking connector on the Lav II, and we've passed your suggestions onto the team.
      We can confirm that the face of the Wireless PRO hasn't been digitally altered in this video. As you mention, the face of the device is reflective, so the screen and branding of the device isn't visible in some shots.
