Well actually, for the CAT event you could literally just bring Enfys Nest. Battle takes 1 hour, but it works and you can sim it afterwards. You could throw in Traya lead with Enfys, but if you want to sim it just bring Enfys. Only need her around Relic 5. The Maul event is also easy. Just do Captain rex lead and clones. Use form up, drain essence, and ariel advantage and it goes by easily, although Fives needs to sacrifice.
Here's how I would have made Proving Grounds work: The first time is like a marquee - it unlocks the character at 3 stars - even if they were a 7* unlock via Conquest. Then each time it comes back, you get the next star. So, it would take 5 months of Proving Grounds to get a character to 7* from nothing. If you are starting with shards for the character, it should unlock at the level below where your shards are. For example, I have 301/330 shards for Malgus. If I did the Proving Grounds for Malgus (which I know isn't out yet), he should unlock at 6* - even though via Conquest he is a 7* unlock! Then the following month, I can do it again to get him to 7*. Considering that PG doesn't even become available until many months after the character has left Conquest, this seems like a reasonable schedule for unlocking and staring these characters.
Kinda like those team training events that lets you unlock characters at the end, I remember in the rebel one I unlocked Leia and she carried me in light side, ditto with tie pilot in dark side
What I don't understand is why they can't put those other characters in one of the stores. Razor Crest went into the Fleet arena store and I was able to get it that way and with conquest currency. I did not have a high enough GP for hard conquest until one of the SOJ ones, so I now have 160 + shards for CAT. I have to do her proving grounds 9 more times for her. It just seems like something else could be done to expedite this process besides crystals in Proving grounds and shipments.
TLDR put them in one of the stores like Fleet arena or still have shards available in the conquest store.
Honestly I wouldn't mind proving grounds being this difficult if they would also've kept toons in the conquest store. At least then you could get the toon reasonably quick for crystals & conquest tickets

My issue with Proving Grounds is simple. It is a mode that unlocks at 4 Million GP and then you can farm the characters, which will take SEVENTEEN months from scratch, all the while the event advertises itself as a "Relic 3" type event with "no tag requirements". That is flat-out a lie. You cannot beat these battles with certain teams. I blew through the first two fights with CLS, for example, but he gets completely stomped by Phoenix. At that point I have failed. I do not have a R5++ Padmé Squad at the ready, nor do I have GAS. So I basically cannot gain Maul shards for months, just because my farming priorities have been different. And all of that for what exactly? The Shard Amount of First Hard Crate, wow.
These fights should NOT require specific teams, IF you're already gating them behind this high of a GP. Most players simply will NOT have all these beautiful options to deal with these fights properly.

At this point, I'm kind of glad I farmed RC via shipments and did not need the 'free' shards from PG any more. Though I seem to remember due to a bug we were still able to do it that first time and it wasn't so terrible with a SLKR including Hux, as long as you make sure that Hux always has advantage up.
Just take in your R7 Nightsister Initiate with her R9 datacron. EZ :D Proving grounds is dumb; they actually made the entry requirements higher than hard mode on Conquest. So even if you just barely snuck into hard mode on conquest, you may not even be able to participate in Proving Grounds. Gotta love when the supposed "Catch Up" mechanic is more difficult than the original mode. Just looked it up; "Catch Up" is a synonym for "Whale Harder".
Anyway; thanks for the video Grid; and can't dispute anything you said related to the Cadence, payout, difficulty, entry requirements...etc related to Proving Grounds
What are you talking about 17 months for CAT? All you have to do is spend 2200 crystals on each refresh. CAT totally seems worth 34,000 crystals!
Lmao jokes aside I should have done out the math so I could say “17 months ooorrrrrrrrrrr you can spend like $200 in refreshes!”
I think there might be a two refresh limit so 4400 crystals a month for 60 shards, so still 6 months at 0 to 330 for ONLY 24,000 crystals 😢
I love that my SLKR r6 (no ulti) couldn't beat EITHER the CAT or MAUL battles. Just... so perfectly balanced!

@@Tw1s7 yeah I’ve heard of some people losing even with a gl. Without SLKRs ult it obviously wouldn’t be the same as with it, but yeah even GLs can struggle
@@TheRealGridan I literally tried so many times and I can't say my mods were the reason I was losing. It just didn't work. As you said, it's broken and completely fucked.

100% Right, I do assume that shards will show up in stores after an extra year (so 2 years after release). I also think they can just cut Crest since its in Ship store
So if I dont have my C-3PO at a relic level do you have a backup replacement idea?
I don’t think the difficulty is the problem, I care more that they locked this to 4M GP. It should be 2M (cuz normal mode can get these characters ) or it should be open to anyone willing to try. 17 months just doesn’t feel right
I don’t have any of the teams to beat these events and I just have come to terms that I’m not going to get any conquest characters
The fight against Moff Gideon was relatively easy with my CLS-Team (CLS, Chewie, Han, C-3PO and Chewie&3PO all around Relic 4).
I think they wanted to keep the requirements about the same for the conquest characters, 4m gp and some good characters to go through conquest. Also conquest characters are late game stuff, so of course they should be hard to get, either through a difficult event or taking time. You only have to beat it once and then you can sim it, so difficulty isn’t that much of an issue, taking forever is. But who knows? They might increase the shards or the cadence later on
You start getting characters shards in Normal and to complete normal you need decent roster given the High relic's in phase 5

Yeah I absolutely hate modifiers it’s totally unfair grind and build a toon for it to be obsolete. Absolutely crushes the player base, besides the fact that it will take a year or better to grind the characters to 7 star
Good vid, very concise, tasteful and true. Gate’s too high, difficulty is too hard, cadence/final unlock is too far away. I really feel like this needs some minor refinements all around from cg. I really hope that this makes it to them, but am fearful they won’t hear any of this. I feel like many of the people that cg might hear from ether already have the characters and can’t do the event, or have big enough/very refined rosters with at least some gls and will get through it maybe making a couple comments, but quickly moving on. But in reality, I don’t feel like this is very player friendly, regardless of ftp or not
I couldn't get through the Maul event with a full R5 Padme team so I think you definitely need at least JKA and GK at R7 and R8 at the minimum.

I beat the first two with cls, sadly phoenix just ran over my cls squad Luckily I had just finished gfetting JKL to relic 7 So used his lead with 160 speed revan jolee jkanakin and hermit yoda. Used heroes arise the first chance I got and it was pretty much over at that point since they were all set to 160 speed. As Others have mentioned My issue is the 4 mil gp req, It makes little sense given Normal gets character shards. I've seen plenty of hyper focused rosters who would have the ability to do it. It's blatantly obvious this is by design to spur spending.
It's pretty crap, I fortunately have cat and used jmk with padme but without jmk it'll be tough
