    One HUGE problem with matchmaking is 3x3 and I don’t know why people aren’t talking about it! I was Kyber 3 or 4 until we started alternating 3x3 and 5x5. Now, every time we switch to 3x3 I fall down to Arodium. This is because I have only 1 GL (about to unlock SLKR) and I am constantly up against others in Kyber with 3-5 GLs. Which in 3x3 is a killer if they put a bunch on defense. So 3x3 messes up the matchmaking because all of a sudden we are all playing a whole different game. Then we go through a season, switch formats, and everyone’s ranking re-adjust. Leave it at 5x5 like the game was designed.

      Also going down to a lower weight class let's you dominate the people who moved up from Chromium to Aurodium because they either had 1 GL themself or just a deeper roster than other Chromium players. But at the end of the season when they readjust there is no reason someone like yourself in Kyber should have any chance of facing a Chromium tiered account because you guys both get sent to Aurodium because they dominated the 3 mill account 3v3 brackets and you struggled in the 9 mill+ 3v3 brackets

    This is almost perfect matchmaking but honestly for cg to make money they won't implement this kind of matchmaking because it won't make them money players won't see things they don't have so it won't intense them to spend money to get what they don't have sadly

    When CG launched this new system, they said it had a, "New skill based rating system to match you against fair and comparable opponents." That is an exact quote taken from the "What's New" section of the game listing on the App Store. I took a screen shot at the time, because it was not matching my experience. "FAIR AND COMPARABLE OPPONENTS." What a joke. And it's not just the number of GLs. 2 of my last 4 opponents had more than double the number of relic characters and triple the number of total relic levels. The other two had double the total relic levels. How do I compete with that?

    I'm currently at K3 with 6.6m GP with 2 GLs and routinely beat opponents with 2-3m more GP than me with 4-6 GLs.
    So I think MM based solely on GP and GLs is not the answer. Maybe if they set a floor based on GP, say 10m can't fall below K2, 9m below K3, and so on, it might work to keep someone with 6 GLs from falling into lower divisions while not participating or setting everything on defense then doing one battle for participation rewards.
    When someone shows an opponent that has 2-3m more GP than them and says it's unfair, I tell them they must be doing something right that their opponent isn't and to try to beat them anyway.
    Unless you're a whale, there's only so far you can go before you peak based on your roster. And I'm ok with this. It makes sense.

    Agree 100% even if someone has 1 more GL than you, it makes the match like a 50/50 win rate even if they don't place all of them on D. That will just guarantee them really good banners vs several teams. Thanks for making this video, it really touched home!

    GP is definitely a broken stat. It does not reflect the actual power of the usable portion of a roster. G12, G13, relic levels, 6 dot mods, and GLs do not raise GP nearly as much as they should. And omicrons and Datacrons don't raise GP at all. Had they made these raise GP as much as they should, it would have made it so guilds could max out the Geo TBs too quickly. So, GP is not a good way of making matchups. Even top 80 or top 100 GP isn't going to be great. But it is better than nothing, which is what we have now.

    I agree 100% and I would prefer to be matched with equalish accounts. However, sometimes I take on an opponent that has 2 more GL's than me and no datacrons, or worse mods, or just isn't as good strategically. That win feels pretty damned good not gonna lie.
    But when I have 2 GL's and they have 6.... its pretty damn gutting

    A few ideas. I am in A2, which is a mess. I routinely face mega accounts falling out of Kyber. >3m More gp. One easy fix is rank players with the same skill rating by GP. A more radical approach is similar to conquest. Have a normal mode and hard mode. In normal mode no datacrons and gp match making with lower rewards. Hard mode is the current system. You opt in before each GAC season.

    I'm Aurodium 2. Have ony Slkr and 6.55 Mio GP, a lot of ship power. I get 80% enemies with > 7 Mio GP and 3 to 4 GLs...

    I have two GLs… My opponents this round have 4-5.
    I’m 5.4m GP… My opponents are around 7.4m.
    It’s crazy

    I would like them to separate GACs into legendary accounts and non legendary accounts. If they can put gp walls behind proving grounds and hard conquest then they should be doing something similar to GAC.

    Just because the system will never be perfect, doesn't mean we should strive to make it perfect. I wish I had the solution. I don't always want to go against people that are equal to me because it will most likely not force me to get better. However, I don't want to be facing Goliath every single match. Matchmaking should provide fun challenges, not beat downs.

    I have 6.6M of GP... The last round of GA my opponents were 9M, 8.5M and 8.3M...

    I have 1 gl and haven't had but maybe 2 battles where I'm not against someone with 3+ gls they move me almost every battle. I win one move up lose win go back. it's fine bc I get crystals everytime up or down but I'm in that point zone.

    Datacrons has changed the matchmaking a lot
    I run across lots of accounts that people loose a match l, in essence sandbagging so they stay in lower categories. Then they win 2 matches to get second most of the time.

    ive found this since i got into kyber the game is lost as soon as it starts i just got my 2nd gl everyoen else has 5 or 6 they put 4 on defence i do 10 banners

    I think The Best way to make it fair is not Just about The GP but also how many GLs u have ships ECT ECT if they could do that it would be beautiful from My experience most of the time I look at my apponent and I already know if I'm going to win or lose but when we are perfectly matched I know I have to play My Best in order to win

      Maim problem eith what you say is it disregards roster planning. There are people that pick balanced approach. There are people that pick GL rushes. Do suddenly, matchmaking doesnt match em anymore. That doesnt make sense, because in the end this is a planning game. What it should be is, keep the skill rating matchmaking but mix it with gp based matchmaking. If you are lets say 2 m gp, and constantly winning you shouldnt get matched eith someone that has 6 m gp and constantly losing. You shoukd get matched againdt someone also constantly einning and close to your gp. Same goes for 6 m. Let the loser compete

    I completely agree. I am in aurodium three and routinely face people with 2-3 million more GP than I do. Unfortunately we all know that CG has no interest in doing the right thing. The only time they throw us a bone is when enough people get pissed off like the gear changes they announced after the great Nerf of 2021. Look how long it has taken them to follow through on those.

    Agreed , my opponent in Kyber 1-2 always has 1-2 million more GP.
    I’m going to tank the next few GAC seasons . Not fun which sucks as GAC is my favourite game mode. Something does need to be done .

    Cg will never fix matchmaking since it probably makes them more money. It makes the lower gp players to spend more money to get higher gps or the newest meta team or gl to try to compete imo.

    It’s a tough question
    Around the same gp
    But it’s more on how big bloated accounts fall in lower teirs
    From experience
    I have a 6 mil account and I was kyber 2 playing people with same skill level then randomly at the end of one of the seasons I got thrown into aurodium 1 and I’ve been stuck ever since and can’t get around bloated accounts who can defeat me with size and it’s not fair I’ve stopped caring because I can’t win

      Same, I just don't care about gac anymore. If my opponent gp is somewhat fair I'll try to other than that I just do as many attacks as I can just for fun. If I lose I lose

      Even as a ladder style matchmaking that doesn’t inherently mean the matchups need to be unfair. Everyone is climbing the ladder and should face other people around the same rung they’re at, not some 15-30 rungs above them.

      Also, this is the most sensible comment here. If someone that has 4-6 GLs can't beat my 2, they deserve to fall to K5/Aurodium and play people at their own skill level.

      @@TheRealGridan So first off, I enjoy your content, it's very helpful, so I don't mean any disrespect here. But you're clearly wrong. You climb or descend based on performance. Performance is a function of roster strength and skill (as compared to the others on the ladder). The more skillful you are, the more you climb to a point where your roster is outmatched until finally you can climb no more. You've now hit equilibrium. The more outmatched your roster is shows your level of skill. You should wear it as a badge of honor that a good day for you is to only be down 1-2 GLs and/or 1-2 million GP. Conversely, if you can only win when you're up on GLs and/or GP, then you're not much of a player. That's the way CG has designed it.

    Imo gp is not created equal and it’s been like that since the old matchmaking, I use to exploit it then by keep my gp low but with meta toons but this new system which is a ladder system and tbh it’s the fairest system imo, you climb 🧗‍♀️ to as high as your roster and skill can take you and theoretically you should find ppl equal to yourself in time and I’m no whale 🐋 I’m a 8.2 mil gp player who’s in the top 1000 of kyber 1 and I literally just fought someone 2 mil gp higher then me 🤷🏽‍♂️ but again just my opinion but I like the fact I can now have a chance at fight anyone

      I appreciate that good players want to climb as high as they can. But the other side of it is that people who are not as good fall down the rankings to the point where they can easily crush opponents. So, they are being rewarded for being bad, while punishing the people in those lower brackets by giving them impossible matchups. And yes, it is a reward, because you get better rewards for winning at a lower bracket than losing in a higher bracket.

      @@tilomad9220 The obvious solution is weight classes of some kind. GP is not a great indicator of roster strength, but there are other metrics that could be used to come up with a true roster strength score. Then you allow people to advance to higher brackets if they win a lot, with the option to drop back down into their natural bracket, but you don't let people drop into lower brackets. So, if I moved up a bracket and found it too difficult, I would have the option of moving back down. But I couldn't opt to move down to an even lower bracket if my own bracket is too tough. Instead, I'd have to get good in order to win in my bracket. This incentives those people to improve their rosters and gameplay instead of rewarding them for being bad, it allows good player to move up and face bigger opponents if they want to, and it doesn't punish people in lower brackets by pairing them against opponents with way bigger rosters. Then you can still have a skill rating within each bracket to make sure people are facing players of similar skill level.

    from the very first day of the announcement of the GAC changes i was so relieved that i dont have to struggle in arena anymore as my shards is competitive AF, i had to climb from 200-150 every day. It was easier since i got jmk+cat but still a headache. So i agree it was a step in the right direction but unfortunately this is the best way for CG to incentivize spending because you can only have more or equal chance of winning if you have everything in game.
    despite that im an advocate for changing the matchmaking (we all know theres no skill based matchmaking in a p2w game) but i just dont see any hope for that.
    so what i am doing is the same as you, if i see i am totally outgunned i just use the chance to try new counters or just do something else with my time, at least i dont have to "worry" about winning
