Amazingly clever and actually really informative if you're interested in how politicians get elected. Also yeah, lmao my country thinks single payer healthcare is too "pie in the sky" (actual quote from my mother)
Which is the main issue with monarchies as seats of power. You can get that rare incorruptable individual in power and they carry the weight of the kingdom on their shoulders, but once they croak it all falls apart. If you have one of those people who cannot die, then theoretically a monarchy is the most robust government type out there. But that body is only as strong as the brain, and as we can see in our world, it is pretty hard to put a strong brain into that throne.
I feel like whether the status quo is seen as desirable is very dependent on the status quo. also I thought the Simic and Selesnya had formed a coalition which seems like it has a very strong message.
I might take a United Ravnican System under Niv Mizzet Reborn. All bias aside. Its officially rainbow-friendly and say what you will about ancient dragon patriarchs... At least Niv Mizzet is educated. Also free bacon for everyone!
Books that build republics: Spoilers: over the course of the Mistborn series an all powerful emperor is replaced by a constitutional monarchy and then in the second series this is replaced by a (I believe) elected council. The Powder mage series is basically the french revolution but with magic.
21:34 Actually, I can only think of 1 and it goes super south. Old, now *non-canon* , Calamity Mod lore (mod for Terraria) stated the people of the Jungle Kingdom were using the government officials under the royal family to usurp them and replace them with an electoral college. This led to the family being thrown into a hell-pit, the 2nd son's pet dragon egg hatching, the son then coming back and killing all the officials and taking over as a tyrant known as Yharim with his dragon Yharon. Their tyranny then led to the creation of like 75% of the mod's bosses, directly or indirectly, and the world becoming barren and ruined. Again, *non-canon* now, they're reforming boss visuals and lore.
Why yes, Spice, I do know of a fantasy story that deals with the transition away from monarchy into the formation of a republic. The Avatar series! Especially the the sequel comic "The Promise" In fact, Republic City (where The Legend of Korra is largely set) is the product of a decolonization/reconciliation project in the wake of a 100-year war, and an independent state carved out of two different monarchic civilizations, the Fire Nation, and the Earth Kingdom (the colonizers and the colonized, respectively).
As a huge Elenda fan and everything she stands for (and, you know, having an EDH with her at the helm with only religious-themed cards and a dusk rose tattoo on the chest) the "EXCUSE ME WHAT THE FUCK" reaction really hits the nail. Laughed my ass off. Keep up the awesome work Man

Right: lots of demons, removal spells, and a distinct lack of females - Leader: Ob Nixilis, The Hate-Twister

You misread Adriana's flavor text! it says "this usurper" not "the usurper"...that changes things (her sword belongs to the people, not to any private interests even her own)
Well, Olivia's disqualification certainly didn't age all that well, as she is now actively fighting FOR change TOWARDS a stagnation that will benefit her people only in the short term (something that Castlevania vampires seem more aware of than Innistrad ones), and really, what better way to get votes than promising people the object of their short term desires instead of explaining the long term ramifications of their immediate satisfaction?

You have committed heresy on a multiversal level with that button done up, prepare to receive peas and carrots
Squee should be the president, he's a lovely guy who doesn't die so he could keep everything perfect.
Books that build republics:
Spoilers: over the course of the Mistborn series an all powerful emperor is replaced by a constitutional monarchy and then in the second series this is replaced by a (I believe) elected council.
The Powder mage series is basically the french revolution but with magic.
Another high-effort, high-quality video as always ❤ keep up your amazing work and stay yourself!
Thanks so much for saying so! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Actually, I can only think of 1 and it goes super south.
Again, *non-canon* now, they're reforming boss visuals and lore.
i laughted hard at "and a twitch streamer"
28:25 This joke hits again 4 years later.
The mist born series is awsome and the author was on game knights
OOoOOOOooh thank you!
Boggart would be a radical party.
It hisses,it burns is a pretty good call to remove the policies of the current government if you think about it.
Trying to find a "Dr. Slobad" results in a large amount of cEDH guides.
Short-haired Spice8Rack looks like the english teacher that I wish I had...
Fantastic vid!
Holy shit, Spicey, watching this again in early 2021 and that Kamala Harris joke at ~28:30 just slays, but for completely different reasons.
Oh my gosh the slobad part was amazing. 👏👏👏
As a huge Elenda fan and everything she stands for (and, you know, having an EDH with her at the helm with only religious-themed cards and a dusk rose tattoo on the chest) the "EXCUSE ME WHAT THE FUCK" reaction really hits the nail. Laughed my ass off.
Keep up the awesome work Man
You know, I didn’t expect a Jreg cameo, but I appreciate it.
I just wanted you to know that you've inspired me to create a Cube called "Political Hyperbole" which aims to make fun of each side of the current political climate of the United States:
White - Centrists: lots of (holier than thou) humans, Enchantments, and board wipes - Leader: The Flip-Flopper (Wanderer)
Red - Republican: lots of walls, capitalism, and (sick) burn spells - Leader: Tybalt, the Covfefe-Blooded
Green - Democrat: lots of Elves, forest preservation, and disarmament - Leader: Jiang Yanggu, Tokin' it up (Wildcrafter)
Blue - Radical Left: lots of shapeshifters, counter (censorship) spells, and illusions - Leader: Jace, the Privilege Sculptor
Black - Alt. Right: lots of demons, removal spells, and a distinct lack of females - Leader: Ob Nixilis, The Hate-Twister
When Kamala Harris still makes the ticket :,(

Fantasy about changing monarchy into republic...?
There is book called "Promise of Blood" by Brian McClellan, the first book from Powder Mage trilogy. Just read it, it's one of the best fantasy books I ever read
You misread Adriana's flavor text! it says "this usurper" not "the usurper"...that changes things (her sword belongs to the people, not to any private interests even her own)
At the shamefully bad end of game of thrones the seven kingdoms turns into a quasi election based republic
“NOT GRULL THAN DIE!” Is definitely the best political slogan I have ever know
Well, Olivia's disqualification certainly didn't age all that well, as she is now actively fighting FOR change TOWARDS a stagnation that will benefit her people only in the short term (something that Castlevania vampires seem more aware of than Innistrad ones), and really, what better way to get votes than promising people the object of their short term desires instead of explaining the long term ramifications of their immediate satisfaction?
