  • Making a good Axe starts with a good straight hole being punched from the top and bottom when done right it makes the rest of the process much easier! This axe became a Taiga for a skilled bushcrafter.

      Thank you, this was for a Jonas Taiga axe for bush crafting. I really enjoy making that old-fashioned axe. its based on the JB Stohler pattern from the 1870s. Way back in the day when the original smith made them he couldn't keep up with the demand for them even though his Stohler "Homemade Axes" were twice the price of the originals. The blade shape and curvature made it great for popping chips when falling trees and the big poll on the back make for a really balanced axe too! I was excited to see yours doing a bit of work when Buckin sent me a short vid of it made my day!
