Thank you very much for this posting. My dad (from Canada & now 92) joined the RCAF in ~early '42. He trained in Canada as a gunner, initially on the Fairey Battle & subsequently on the Ventura before going to England and being attached to RAF Sqn 226 in mid-'43 were he crewed up on B-25 "Mitchell IIs" (as they were designated in the RAF). We've talked about 'his' aircraft & flying experiences almost daily for many years. We both get a lot out of it and it's great for me to be able to educate myself and great for him to receive film, photos etc that enhance his memories and recall. I'm sure that you and others have helped 1000s of veterans and their families in many priceless ways thanks to your personal efforts.
Thank you so much for the wonderful images. One of our friends whose father (Colin West) was a bomber pilot of the Lockheed Ventura in the Pacific. Because it was not so popular compared to other WWII aircrafts, (for a painting commission) we had to do a lot of research for background information for the Rabaul island setting of the two Lockheeds that he flew. It was purely instinct that we even found a book of NZ airforce in the Pacific (in a second hand shop} which has his father name in it. We offered it to him as a surprise present. It was nice to keep a bit of NZ RAF in WWII alive!
