Thank you so much Shaggy for these videos. I learned this game AND Scythe Expeditions easily back to back. The way you explain things and your chill vibe without too much extraneous chatter nonrelevant to the game is a Godsend! Most channels devolve into jokes, coffee table talk, and cats interrupting. These distractions take so much away from trying to learn these relatively complex games. Please never change your style, this is by far the best learn how to play channel on YT! Have a safe and happy new year!!
You have by far the highest quality play throughs. I have bought several games (including this one) based mostly on your review/gameplay. I won’t be shocked when you hit 1M subs. Keep up the great work, please!
I really appreciate that, SoundsLikeZach. I'm glad you enjoy my playthroughs. But if I reach 1M subs, something has gone seriously wrong with the universe, so let's hope that doesn't happen. 🙂Have a great day!
Hi Shaggy I was looking for new games for myself and came across your channel and I can't stop watching your videos. You play very interesting and entertaining games, some of which are new to me. It's very relaxing to watch you. You can explain very well and your voice is very pleasant. Keep it up, I'm looking forward to more. Merry Christmas and happy holidays.
That is so nice of you to say. Thank you. I'm very happy you enjoy the channel and I appreciate your viewership. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!
Hey Mr. Boomba......ahh, Sir Shag-a-.... ahhh, I mean dear Shaggy, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you so much for all your amazing video, the heart's blood and sweat invested into them.
For the first few minutes, I thought it was too simple a game, trivial mechanics, and yet I prefer more complex games, but as your gameplay progressed, I got hooked haha. Quite a fun time collecting those icons and points. The solo variant seems nice for quick games, and the graphics are very pretty too. I'll think about it, but my budget is not high so I try to invest wisely in new games. Tough situation when you're new to this hobby, all the games look interesting and tempting, haha :D
You are quite right, it is simple but strangely compelling. It should be in a smaller box. It is really just a quick, fun card game. The solo is fun but it really shines as a multiplayer drafting game -- a bit of a step up from 7 Wonders. It does what it does really well, but not everyone needs quick light games in their life. I definitely do for those late nights when I want something easy. For a light budget and small collection, you can probably find something with more variety and replayability. I'd recommend trying it on Board Game Arena. The implementation there is great! Thanks so much for watching!
One of my most played games! Love this one! And with the expansions there is sooooo much to explore. Thanks for all your videos throughout the year and happy holidays!
Happy holidays to you as well, and a happy New Years! I am excited to try the expansions. I've played this one a bunch multiplayer and a bit less solo. Love it both ways. Thanks so much for checking out the video!
I like this game a lot . Recently I order the expansion leisure and decadence to complete it. I think the scenario that provides make the game more enjoyable
Ha, no guts no glory in Wonderful World. It was a combination of luck and betting that something was bound to show up eventually. Mostly luck. But I'm always trying to shoot the moon in this game because it is so satisfying when it comes together and it works more often than you would think. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you Shaggi for this video. This is one of my favourite solo games ever. I love your relaxed pace and simple explanations as you go along. It is appeasing to watch. Thank you 💜 Merry Xmas from 🇫🇷 See you soon 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed my video. I really like this game as well, both multiplayer and solo. I was surprised how much I like it solo. Have you tried the expansions? Are they worth seeking out? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
@@TotallyTabled I have the Corruption and Ascension expansion which I play with all the time now, it definitely brings a twist ! I also have the War and Peace campaign which is pretty challenging and perfect when you have control of the base game. Also I've just realised I actually possess the Leasure and Decadence expansion but haven't tried it out yet, sooo that's going on my to-do list immediately !!!
@@Caroline0621 Ah, thanks. I had forgotten about the Leasure expansion. Nice to see this game getting continued support. Thanks again for the information!
Happy holidays to you as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the playthrough. This really is a great game. I'm surprised it hasn't broken the BGG top 100. I like it more than 7 Wonders, but it is a slight step up. Thanks for watching!
Yes, I'm surprised it hasn't broken the top 100 either, it really deserves to. Although I've yet to try 7 Wonders, I've heard lots of good things about it. Would need to find a good solo variant, since I play solo much of the time.
Yeah, 7 Wonders scales well from 3-7 players. But Wonderful World scales well from 1-5 players, which is more useful for my gaming lifestyle. Both are great games for sure. I'm excited to try the expansions.
Not interested in Atlantis brokes my heart a little bit 😉 You could have build super sonar first for an extra blue but in the end it doesn’t matter. Merry Christmas everyone ❤
Yeah, that would have been a good choice. But in the end I achieved time travel to other dimensions. The power of science! Thanks for checking out the video!
Hmm, they feel very different to me. 51st State is more involved, with an AI opponent that feels more like playing against someone. The card combos and special abilities with all the different decks with unique rules -- 51st State is a larger and deeper game. It's a Wonderful World is more of a streamlined puzzle, at least when playing with just the base game. The focus is drafting and deciding when to recycle vs. building. It feels like a super filler and plays quickly and smoothly. The two games satisfy two different gaming needs for me, so I'm happy to own both. If I had to pick one for solo play it would be 51st State. I really enjoy the card comboing and tableau building there. But Wonderful World scales beautifully up to 5 players, which is fantastic. Thanks so much for watching!
Hi, hope you read this comment even though the video is 9 months old. I'm just curious how you would rate the experience playing this solo? Do you find it has replay value? Are you compelled to try to reach a score of 100+ ?
That's a good question. I think its true value is in multiplayer. The solo is a nice bonus and very fun, as a quick playing card game. I wouldn't call the replay value high for just solo, although the different scenarios add a lot. I have not played with the expansions yet, so those could add a lot to the replayability. Leisure and Decadence is an entire campaign that I believe is soloable. This is a Top 100 game for me, even just for solo, because I enjoy the game that much, but I would put the replay value at about average and less than a game like 51st State. Thanks for watching!
I didn't film a first impressions/review for this one, no. I really enjoy it as a quick solo card game. And I've played it a ton multiplayer. I love closed drafting and this one appeals to me more than 7 Wonders. It is a bit more thinky and puzzly but still simple. I highly recommend it. You can try it out solo or multiplayer on Board Game Arena. Hope that helps. Thanks for checking out the video!
I think you are in the minority with that take. It was #27 on the people's choice top 200 solo games this year. I think it will end up cracking the BGG top 100. For solo only, you could find other comparable puzzly games, sure. I really like it but I'm not going to call it revolutionary. The real feather in its cap is how well it plays at 3-5 players. Everything is done simultaneously. There is plenty of hate drafting and competing for supremacy bonuses. You lose some of that with solo, but it retains the angst of the card draw and the difficult decision of built vs recycle. I think this is a smartly designed and satisfying game. After dozens of plays at all player counts, it has really grown on me. Thanks for checking out the video, Steve!
@@TotallyTabled yea, I know. For me it is all right. For solo I’d go for alternative options. The price point for it is really great in my neck of the woods.
