@@Martins-Shaves123 Thanks Martin. I have always wondered who goes out to milk the donkeys for their soap. There was a forum I was a regular in when I took up wetshaving. I learned a lot there and made great friends. The end started when gssixgun Glen Mercurio attacked me for not using flat hones. My honing style detractors eventually got me banned for talking about the things I was working on. I later joined B&B thinking that since they tolerated JPO talking about convex hones I ‘might’ve be able to survive there. I was wrong, my tenure was 2 weeks. I totally welcome the angry Badger & Blade Fanboys like DaBOSS to my channel cause I have so much fun sharing with them. 😎 Believe it or not there were a couple of guys contacting UA-cam trying to get me tossed here for honing heresy. Dr. Matt once made a reference to what I think was probably the same sort of BS for showing folks how to “correct geometry”. People can be so petty and childish over the stupidest stuff. I also used talc in an industrial setting. We would buy the stuff sold to billiard shops to help avoid sticky cue sticks, although that is mostly corn starch these days. Slash McCoy was banned from the beatdown thingy, no? That Gong blank (the forging die and the size and recipe of the raw steel heated and forged into that die) is quite possibly the same as the 7/8" round head Bökers & Wackers...whether those steels start from India as flat sheets vs rolled bails, however, I don't know. Maybe they still have a bunch of the old raw steel awaiting a sale and a forging, but that is not the case for the 115crv3 in 5/8 & 6/8. They don't seem to have the curved bias all the 6/8" and 5/8" shouldered Solingens of today exhibit.
@@thesuperiorshave I am not sure if Slash got the “right foot of fellowship” from the “The B&B Elitist School of Bevel Setting and Member Beatdowns” or not. You have to set that bevel man, and it needs to be on a flat stone, you know. If it is not flat you need step on it and grind it flat, even if you end up with a toothpick, as long as it's flat. LOL. The stone also needs to be checked with a certified straight edge. This is really important when you hone a banana shaped object. Take care Bill:) I still have nightmares after watching someone set a bevel on a Filly in mint condition.

Hey Bill! Great video as always. I agree that one's honing method is a personal decision. It's amazing that some people in the wetshsving are up in arms about honing. I realize there are some people who sincerely want to help and that's all well and good, but to browbeat a shaver by adamantly stating that he should hone the "correct" way is ridiculous.
