Stove arriving tomorrow, thanks for this, we will be way ahead of the game.
@@4StonesHandcraft Awesome. I was just thinking about the stove. We used it at a restaurant stop. Great stove.
We had that kero stove years ago, I think it was an Optimus 00. The first time i tried lighting it I was in the kitchen, had to go running through the house for the front door with a ball of fire in my hands and had to toss it in the front yard haha. Had a little more respect for it after that.
I purchased the Grill Boss 90057, tested it to warm up the food, and it is great. Your video helped me with the installation; it was very easy to follow and provided clear information. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy the stove.
Ordered this for a camping trip and feel more confident in it now thanks to your video, also got the 20lbs to 1lbs hose connector just in case
If you ordered the duel fuel stove, you are going to like the stove a lot more than a regular propane camping stove. When it comes to simmering or a full boil, this stove os a great choice.
You have convinced me to get the Grill Boss. All reviews seem to be very positive. Your chart is very helpful as well.
That is awesome. We love this stove. Thanks for the feedback on the chart too.
Thanks for the review, just went through hurricane Ian and realized I'm severely unprepared, thankfully I wasn't out of power for very long but next time, I wanna be ready
I hope everything was okay for you in the hurricane. I have a few videos that cover power, heat, refrigeration, and communications.
What a great review. Wish all reviewers were this good.
Thank you very much for the wonderful compliment. You made our day!
Wow! What a great recap/overview of the options & drawbacks.
Thank you. It was a fun video to make.
The best review I ever seen on a camp stove, I hope you do more. 👍
Many thanks!
Thanks, I just bought this stove and it arrived today. I was unsure if I chose the right stove, but now I feel more confident in my decision after watching your video. I have one of those refillable butane canisters and I purchased 12 butane cylinders from Amazon. I will use them mainly for backup, but they should be great for camping also.
Thanks for the comment. I have been using this one as my daily cooker in the morning. That is a great way to get familiar with making meals while camping.
Thanks a lot for showing me how to use this. We're re- doing it kitchen so as you imagine we have nooo kitchen and nooo way to cook. I refuse to eat junk food fast food restaurants. Not happening I'd rather starve. So much appreciated
No problem. That stove was amazing to use full time. I have one in my car for the same purposes. On my website grayscale.zone I have a more detailed write up of one of the kitchen ranges that I put in place. The gas stove definitely helped while I was waiting for the new range to arrive.
Worthwhile demo. A BIG thank you.
My pleasure. That was a fun video to make. It is great to see that you benefited from it!
You can always put the leftover butane into the refillable propane tank. Propane vapor pressure is higher than butane so it will be perfectly safe.
Yes. Propane tanks are more than strong enough to hold butane. Of course the reverse is not true.
Thank you so much. Easy to understand explanation!
Thank you. This video was fun to make and it is great that you are benefiting from it.
I also have passion for stoves, great video, thanks.
Thank you for watching and the comment.
Excellent video, thanks for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!!! I narrowed my choice down to this unit because of the safety features. (I’m a bit nervous about butane only because I haven’t used it in many years.)
We have frequent power outages but also want to take it car camping. You gave so much valuable information, that I feel confident. This is great.
I canceled my Amazon order so I can get it through you . . . sharing a few pennies.
Thank you so much for supporting the channel and greyscale.zone. The stove is very easy to use with either propane or butane.
Where did you get the connecting hose from for the propane tank?
If you’re referring to the small, refillable propane tank, that hose comes from the grill boss stove. As an Amazon Affiliate, at no cost to you, I earn commissions based on qualified purchases. Lawyer speak on not refilling store bought 1lb propane bottles. The confusion added when they say its illegal to transport, but then how do you get home with it or go camping with it if you have to drive there? Who can tell you refilled the 1lb tank?
The law is speaks to those who transport a one time use propane container that was refilled. Regarding who can tell, there are lots of videos of people refilling containers that are not refillable and they are showing this online. Somebody in law enforcement could review that video and then catch one of those people transporting the containers. We cannot speak too much to this since we are not in law-enforcement. We just know that it is a risky thing to do.
We talk about the specific laws in the link below.
greyscale.zone/flame-king-refillable-tank.html
You can buy one pound refillable cylinders and they are totally legal , I bought a one pound cylinder and a two pound refillable cylinder and If transporting you can throw your 25 pounder into your vehicle and refill the smaller ones as needed. Not a problem.
@Chainsaw2373 they say the refillable ones for $15 each so you feel they are legal only because they don't want you to go the less expensive way.
Once an original propane tank is refilled, is there anyone who can tell its been refilled? I bet not!
thanks buddy :)
You bet. Making this video was fun.
Hi can you give a link for the hose on its own? Thanks
Yes. Here you go. Thank you for asking.

Mistifi Glass Oil Sprayer: amzn.to/49k1FI8
Hey like your review I am in Australia and I think our laws and stuff are very similar but I can't find any portable stoves to use indoors for wok cooking like butane! there are hundreds for sale but all say outdoor use only , but I see asian people using them indoors so is it "Use at your own risk" scenario? Or are there specific ones suitable for indoor use? Cheers Mat .
I think the issue is the capacity when it comes to danger. So the butane containers are lower pressure and they have a lower capacity. It’s not as dangerous to have 250 g of butane floating around versus 2 kg of propane. Most people use butane safely indoors, outdoors, my recommendations if you try that make sure you have adequate ventilation. They do make very small propane containers here in North America. That can hold up to 50 g of propane. It is my opinion those are safer than the 450 g containers. I hope this helps. None of the thing that you could get is a carbon monoxide detector. Having all those things is considered Defense in Depth for the risks.
I purchases the grill boss and followed the instructions but it won’t ignite. I can hear and smell the gas released but no flame. What can I do? It’s new so I don’t see any debris or blockage.
Are you seeing a spark? Is the wire damaged? Without the spark, no ignition will take place of the wire is damaged or the spark device is too far away from the metal parts of the stove.
I have a Gas One dual fuel stove 3900P
How do you like it?
Hi, thank you for making this video, i lie in a tiny hoyse in Mississippi and ladt week i ordered a gasone camping stove 9000, and 8 cans of butane but what i didn't do was the research about the butane cans , my problem is now i cannot store the cans in my tiny house and don't have a garage, do i need to send these and my stove back , i rely got it in case of a long power outages? Do you suggest i return them? Thank you :)
Can you store the butane cans outside in a shaded and protected storage bin?
Very good content... Does Propane burn Cleaner ,ex: Less Carbon ?
Thank you for your comment. Both propane and butane burn extremely clean. The resulting output is heat carbon dioxide, and water. The other fuels are very similar if the fuel is burning at the proper temperature. For example, the kerosene stove will burn very clean as long as it is burning hot. All of these stoves, except for the electric stove might produce carbon monoxide if the air fuel mixture is incorrect. Care should be taken to prevent a pot from getting too close to the flame where it cools the flame. That particular action can result in increased carbon monoxide production.
What's the smallest diameter of pot you can put on this stove?
I would not go any smaller than the area where the flame comes out of the stove. Otherwise, you will be wasting a lot of heat around the pan then under the pan.
I just bought this stove and the gas is leaking
Are you using propane or butane? Connections are tight? If butane, do you have the can properly fitted?
If you are using propane connect the tank at the last step. Make sure all other hoses are connected before attaching the tank.
Thank you so much for your reply. But I have done as you advised several times and it continues to leak.
I am using the small Coleman propane
Where is the leak? If you cannot find the leak exchange it for a different stove.
Just use my 60 year old Coleman , happily on regular gasoline !
Good point. Gasoline is easy to find. I used to have a dual fuel Coleman stove. It worked well.
Wow! I liked the variety of old stoves you showed to compare and contrast. I’ve used a lot of them over the years too and also think, except for backpacking, the grill boss is the way to go for most camping situations. It’s even good for wok cooking.
Thank you. That stove is a keeper. Much better than most camping stoves.
Which fuel source(Grill Boss), is more economical, & can I connect it to a 20lb propane tank?
Propane is the most economical. Yes, with an adapter you can use a larger tank.
Can you hook the dual fuel burner to a 20 pound propane tank?
Yes. Absolutely. All you need is an adapter for the tank.
This stove is complete junk. I bought one. Cheap flimsy case came pre broken for me. Gas leaks, stove caught fire, fixed that and now gas won’t flow through it after only a couple of uses. It has a new home today. Straight in the trash can. Absolute garbage. I tried replacing it and the second one was just as poor quality.
Why did you not replace the first one instead of placing it in the trash. If you had leaks, I would have returned it immediately. I’m sorry that you’re having these experiences, but I cannot say that I have had the same.
This stove can come very handy in an emergency 🚨 situation. Great details about the stove in this video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. Definitely true. We use it when we travel, at camp sites, and at home when power is disrupted.
Great video. Appreciate the presentation and information!
Glad it was helpful!
How long is that propane hose
It is hard to tell right now without a ruler, but for me, it extends from my fingertips to my shoulder. I have the stove with me at this moment and that’s the only measure I can give it this time.
Ok so my grill boss is not letting propane out when I turn knob now. Unit is like new and I only used it a few times. Im using propane canisters. Any idea as to what is going on why when I turn gas no gas
Did you try pressing the red relief button?
@@Linus007 yes, it use to make a click but now does not.
@@RhiceyHarierar does it work with butane?
Great video, I hope to find a similar dual fuel cooker here in Australia.
Although I have one gripe after the disparaging comment you left on my own Butane camp stove video, I did not and do not recommend ANYONE refill these. At 4 times the pressure of butane, it is not worth the risk. During my own tests at 35℃ plus temperatures a refilled canister will trigger the safety and vent which is dangerous and potentially life threatening.
Thank you for the update. I was not referring to your video in this one. My reference is to refilling any non-refillable containers. You do mention in your video that filling a butane cylinder with propane is not safe. I found your video a few hours after I filmed mine. Your video came up in a search.
In Australia, are your treads on the tanks different than North America? I assume they are metric.
Good review. Thanks...
Thanks for watching!
Good video, great info, so thanks.
I recently took delivery on a Grill Boss, this morning, and to test, I boiled two eggs in 4 cups of water.
I believe it to be a keeper. Love how low it can simmer. Love the long and flexible propane hose.
The water came to a boil in 4 min.
Thanks again.
Thank you for the comment and for watching the video. I am glad that it was informative for you.
Good video! I bought one a week or so ago. Haven't got fuel yet. Home Depot seems to have the best deal - 4 16 oz cans for about 26 bucks. (in Canada)
Awesome. Thank you for sharing. I hope you enjoy it.
