This is awesome news!! Cannot wait for the build series!! Sounds like it'll be an epic build and i hope you guys have fun doing it! Will be following for definite!!
nice one I put a heavy duty winch tray made from 250mm box section with monster recovery points and yeah I was shocked at how much it pulled the arse down once you brim the tank (rearly) and put a bit of cargo in it shows. lengthing the chassis isn't a bad idea just to get more infront of the axle instead of right on top of it🤓
Hi...its kind of amazing when you put a winch all the way at the back how much it does pull the truck down that is why we fitted 110 rear springs plus we have got 70KG of water and the fuel tank so it does drag the truck down...if we do go down the line of lengthening the chassis it will make a big difference on how the weight is distributed..instead of like you said just sitting on top of the axle..
Great news and it will be a great build series. Don't know if a 110 half chassis in 3mm grafted on would sort out the extra wheel base you're looking for and allow you to "adjust" the disco chassis to the deeper section that the 110 has and add some extra reinforcement while you're in there. Definitely a project run by the heart👍
Hi..a 110 half chassis would not work as grafting the two chassis together would be more work than stretching the disco chassis but still don't know whether to stretch it or not as like i said all these things are subject to change..
Great plan. 👍 The whole thing with chassis swaps/mod's gives me the heeby jeebies. I've often thought, for example, that a good project would be to buy a tatty TD5 Defender and a non-running Disco 3 and then modify the D3 body so it'd bolt to the Defender chassis, keeping the Defender engine and mechanicals. Point being, the "correct" way to register the finished vehicle would be using the Defender's details but you just know that's going to cause problems if the cops see something that looks like a D3 but is registered as a Defender. Conversely, you could probably run the finished vehicle on the D3s details and nobody would ever give it a 2nd glance but it's going to be a can of worms if anybody DID have reason to look more closely. I suppose you could bypass all that by registering the vehicle with a "Q" plate but I dunno what's involved with that these days. I think you'd have to get an SVA inspection and jump through all the hoops to make sure you comply with that. Probably best to just keep everything "Discovery" and then just mod' it as required.
Hi...it is far easier to keep it all disco as my truck is already registered as a pickup...but when you start getting into chassis swaps like you said it can be a can of worms so going for KISS..
With regards to your storage draw. Have you seen, Vanvault's, slim slider, S10880? I have one, and it has close to full extension without the use of draw slides. It may be worth looking at one to, dear I say copy and make something similar out of aluminium. I live in Leeds if you are unable to get to have a look at one.
Hi mate i have just looked at the drawers online and that is exactly the sort of thing i was going to build if i could find one premade that would fit i would quite happily buy one to save time.
@All4Overland unfortunately they are steel not aluminium. But it's the method they use to extend the draws I was thinking about. It would be easily repeatable. They have small bearing races to create the actual slide out mechanism.
@@All4Overland I'm basically coming out with educated guesswork here but i think you can go the cheaper route of using two transfer boxes to get drive to all three axles. again I'm coming out with at best educated guesswork and at worst I'm talking utter sh!t. however it would be awsome content I can't think of any in depth 6x6 biuld video series on UA-cam
I don't think there is any 6x6 builds on youtube that i know of and i also don't about using two transfer boxes as a set up so would have to look into it as it is something that i have very little knowledge of but i guess i had better start learning lol...
Definitely looking forward to watching this build fold out.
Hi...should be an epic series..
You’re definitely the man to do something like that and it be sad to see this truck go. Be a good series to to watch 🤙
Hi..it would be a real shame to lose the truck and it should be a good watch to build..so roll on Heimdall 2.0..
@@All4Overland definitely and I be watching the full build 🤙💪

Hi...thats good to hear...it will be a big job but definately worth it!!

Yes new build of course, loads of videos and loads of work for you but you’re very capable of doing it all
Hi...it is gonna be a lot of work but it should be fun and loads of new content..
aah , was fairly sure Paul would rebuild or re-chassis .. and slimming Heimdall down in the process is a damn good idea
Hi...shedding a few pounds won't do him any harm but its gonna be a big job..
Excellent!! I was hoping you'd make that choice 😀 Best of luck.
Hi..the truck means too much to me to just let it go..it should be a good build..
Great plan. 👍

Have you considered just using a 110 chassis?
Swap the outriggers and you gain 10 inches while you're at it.
Hi..did think about using a 110 chassis but then would have to reregister the vehicle as a 110..
I new you would come up with something 🤙🏻🏴
Hi...got a plan now just got to put it all in motion..
You will have to sva test it as well i would have thought since you changing wheel base length
Hi...i would have to IVA it if we lengthened the chassis but i am undecided yet..

Incidentally, it looks cheap to replicate and easy and strong.
When i have a little bit more time in the week i will have a proper look at the boxes..thanks for the heads up.
Brilliant news mate I knew you wouldn’t let Heimdall die bring on version 2.0 bigger and better
Hi...couldn't let him go...he's one of those trucks you keep forever..
@@All4Overland I know exactly what you mean I have the same problem with mine 🤦♂️🤣
Great new on the truck, are you going to bother with the IVA test as it would be a modified chassis ?
Hi...i would only need an IVA if i stretched the chassis putting a half chassis on is just a repair as the truck is already registered as a pick up..
👍
He is getting rebuilt now!
Awesome 🖤
Hi..it should be a good build series mate..
@All4Overland yeah man, can't wait to settle in to small series on the rebuild
I could use a winch...😅
Hi..you have got first dibs on it mate will let you know when i have taken it off..
go on 6x6
Hi...i have always wanted to build a 6x6 it won't take much encouragement you know Lol...
