• Final Fantasy XII - HD...
** PLEASE WATCH IN HD **
It is the very purpose I made this video after all. SD versions are all over already.
This is my favorite scene in one of my all time favorite FF games. The first time we get a good explanation on what those mysterious beings are. It's meant to be just a test on how my PC can handle PS2 emulation, so I thought I might as well make it worth watching.
As you may see, it struggled to record a full hd video down to the hard disk, keeping the framerate up while emulating at such high resolution on PCSX2 (R4600). PC native games are easy task, but emulation, yeah... is what you see here. Also, when converted to XVID it lost some detail, the original video had more then 10 Gb, so I had to convert it. I'd apreciate if anyone know a better codec and settings to make smaller files with less loss of details.
hey are speaking in Iambic Tetrameter. Venat speaks in Iambic Pentameter. It IS poetry. They even space the subtitles for easier reading of the meter. Kudos to the localization team as they literally translated Japanese into English Poetry.
whoa cool info, thanks for sharing .. the dialogues in this games sounds so damn cool, it makes the lore so much richer than any FF until that point, I don't get it how there's so many people saying this game isn't good
Thank you. I had always wondered.
the line "The Dynast-King, his fallow shards, coarse trinkets cut from Sun-Cryst's Light" is such a beautiful line. I really love when poetry uses alliteration like this.
I find that FFXII has a most interesting use of language. In fact, the language is one of the biggest things in this game I enjoy the most.
i'm with Venat with this one...
@pablo pineda pandoras box basically
Venat is a heretic!!
Hum Venat isn't exactly benevolent either
Huh, so Venat was basically a Promethean hero. Cosmic beings like Necron, Yu Yevon, summons, and the Occuria all seem like emissaries of the crystal's will. Engineering human conflicts to maintain the cycle (Samsara) of life and death, keeping mortals at lower stages of evolution to determine the course of history from behind the scenes. Think FFX was the first to indirectly address this world-building flaw; mythos of the FF13 trilogy( despite its flaws) more explicitly attacked the demiurge figure ( Bhunivelze). Looking forward to seeing how FF16's form of deicide.
Ahh.... Venat in FF14 is such a joy.
"No more shall man have wings to bear him to paradise. Henceforth, he shall walk."
I've missed this somehow. Great insight, thanks.
yes, every line is pure poetry.. so beautiful.. i love all characters and their dialogues, makes me wish i lived in middle ages .. but of course it was probably never this =/
They are speaking in Iambic Tetrameter. Venat speaks in Iambic Pentameter. It IS poetry. Kudos to the localization team. They speak in groups of 8 and 4 syllables. and Venat in groups of 10 and 5 respectively.
Final Fantasy 12 is one of my faves, i still have it, i love it too much! Its hard to believe Ashe is only 19 lol o.o
Humes are to Occuria
What toys are to spoiled children!
I'm sad we never got to do more with the Occuria. They seem so sinister in how they influence Ivalice. Destroying an entire nation because of bat shit crazy Vanye and House Solidor? Basch even agreed that was crass. I also feel like the Espers should have had some dialogue and more active role in the game.
Here is how I would have continued the story:
After defeating Vayne and Venat, I would have made Venat an anti-hero who wanted to challenge the Occuria like the Espers attempted. He admits this before his death then Belias and the other Espers you accumulated in your journey talked about why they chose to rebel against the Occuria and task the player with rebuilding the esper army to face them. The player gets to Ultima the leader of the Occuria resistance and she along with the other espers combine their powers to send the player and party to the Occuria's realm where there is a battle to free Ivalice and the espers from their control.
That is a true end game story imo
we would have seen rosaria as well but the ps2 had a lot of constraints. not to mention the limited budget.
Unfortunately, the departure of the Occuria from Ivalice was probably the worst thing that could've happened. While it held the promise of so much potential and freedom for the people of Ivalice at first, it only led them all to their ruin at the hands of the Cataclysm, some 94 years after the events of FFXII.
@@youreprettygood2603 where is that event shown? In a light novel?
@@Calvinooi It's mentioned here an there in Ultimania. For example, 94 years later is around stuff like Ultima being reborn and starting a new religion happens. Also Ivalice steadily loses magic and things like mist-reliant tech and the skycontinents slowly fail.
These... things are why Vayne and his conspirators are the true heroes of this game. They were the ones fighting to put the Reins of History back into the Hands of Man.
“Vayne’s conspirators”? More like Venat’s.
Venat manipulated Cid AND manipulated humanity into a world war. Is one Occuria ruling single-handedlt really better than a council?
@@Americansikkunt If that is honestly how you see the story of XII or Venat, I suggest you go back and look at the game again. Venat was very clear about what everything meant. The destruction of the Sun-Cryst severed the Occuria's ties to Ivalice; including Venat. The other Occuria consider Venat a heretic because Venat denied the Occurian right to rule Ivalice.
@@seprithlicastia463 Ah, I missed that key point. I didn’t realize Venat’s plan ended The Occuria’s control....
But if that’s the case, what motivated Venat? Was it morally-obligated?
@@Americansikkunt There is some debate on that, but all Venat says about after-wards is how glad they are the world is now "free" of the Occuria and offers Vayne hopes he gets "all that is his due". Considering Vayne and Venat commit suicide together at the end, it seems they were both genuine at least about wanting to give people the right to rule their own fate.
I don't mean to sound bad but you're atheists aren't you? All commenters, I mean. I'm not and I found it admirable that the story puts these Occuria in charge whatever their decisions may be in the end.
Who is here to appreciate Venat after Endwalker?
Me!!!
What an amazing game. Loved the story line
Hell yeah! I also love KOF
They should remake this game, I’d love to explore guruvegan more with a more in depth backstory of the city and the occuiran
Is it just me, or would the Occuria fit right in as entities of the Fade in the Dragon Age universe?
The game looks so freaking good in HD. Eyecandy. My fav Final Fantasy.
The detail put into this one was impressive for ps2 last one for it too
Looks like Gerun's really sore about Venat, given how they reacted.
My favorite cutscene.
Venat is a heretic ! =p
His heresy is also represented subtly with the different meter of his speech pattern
@@FasterthanLight11 That's why Venat should be... must be destroyed ! Deus Vult !
So weird watching this scene again after playing through Final Fantasy 14 EndWalker
Thanks :D
I wish i could summon those Occurias
2:38 when even Gods can be triggered.
I was watching this at night with surround sound headphones, and my God did I even think a Final Fantasy Game could scare the soul out of me.
Penelo, have you been getting into Balthier's drugs?
One thing this particular moment shows, which I hate, is the fact the audio doesn't always match the subtitles. Sometimes, the audio says things not shown in the subtitles.
Is this FFXII? or its the end of FFXV? the king of kings
It's FFXII XD
What happened to their voices? XD sometimes they sound high and sometime they sound so slow. Its like they on drug.
LMao
Yeah this is 5 years old, at that time PCs used to struggle to run this on emulator. Recently I've uploaded a 4K version of this scene (link in description) which doesn't sound like that.
They had a drink before arriving
thanks ! mine too !
So.. they're aliens. Makes sense.
Lol they sound high
hm, not sure I just ran this new R4600 version and it seemed a lot faster. I'm not pro at emulation so it was pretty much on default settings. I just adjusted the resolution. So yea, not much else to input. Maybe it has something to do with your pc specs ? Mine is a Quad Core Q6600 + ATI 4870 HD
The occurians aren't dispensing with power but trying to hang onto their own. They need to recognise that they've expired.
I love all these interpretations people have been throwing around here for all this years
2:45 occuria shows their true face
The Occuria looked like the beings in the background until they absorbed their essence into deifacted nethicite and took on those ghostly forms to become immortal
My name based on "Venat" ... i did a Mistake is see...
VENAT IS A HERITIC!
But iffff weeee got ahold offf the nethththicite...
The story of this game is tepid to say the least. All they talk about is items, and details of battles and what not. Even the first Final Fantasy, which had no story, had a better story than this one..
