This is my favourite ff. I remember when i read a preview of this game on a magazine. Then i realized that the creators of ff tactics and vagrant story were behind this game and i got my ps2 especially for this masterpiece.
This is my favorite scene in the entire game! I love it because of Cid's at his nuttiest and Reddas was so heroic... (cries for Reddas) Cid, I think, is in all of them. Biggs and Wedge? I'm not sure, but I think at least most of them.
Cid pretty much has become something like a FF mascot (next to the chocobo, of course)...or better the name has anyway. This is the first time I can think of that Cid was a bad-guy though. Cid was usually the guy to provide the party with some sort of transportation, usually an airship. As for Biggs and Wedge, from what I have read in gaming magazines, that's just the american translators way or making tribute to Star Wars. Biggs and Wedge were two characters from the first movie.
theres another guy in this game named Cid to if i recall, or was it Sid, he had black hair and it was long and he wore shades when you first met him, he was supposed to be super charming or something.
@danny32602 they put him in the the dawn of souls remake. A Lufien mentions him. It's also implied that the Cid who narrates Dissidia IS the same Cid from 1.
I also find his backstory to be very moving. It showed that he wasn't a mindless military pawn, or brainless politician, he came to understand the horrible means that Archadia devised to achieve their goals, and left. Tying it back to hearing about Judge Zecht in Paramina Rift is just awesome! There are very few throwaway lines in either place. I rather gush with the story of XII, to be honest.
I always got the impression Judge Magister Zecht didn't know fully that 'activating' the Midlight Shard in Nabudis would necessarily result in the explosion and destruction of the entire capital, their army, etc.... I get the feeling he was kind of manipulated by Cid / Venat / Vayne - who probably DID have a good idea of what would happen, but never let him in on the full details. This made his regret all the more poignant, in the years to follow.
It's like a little joke they do. Like Biggs and Wedge are in most as well. I think they are even called Wiggs and Bedge in one. Might be this one, can't remember.
@LionLostInTime I KNOW! Helps that they weren't just card-carrying-villains, of course. FFXII is - I will admit - probably my favourite FF to date. I just love the world of Ivalice.
it was explained. The Occuria were using the visions to manipulate Ashe (and Vaan) as they were desperate to maintain control over mankind. They chose to use Rassler because of his obvious emotional connection to Ashe. They tell her this when she meets the Occuria (just before this scene). The Occuria wanted her to take up the Stones to become a new Dynast Queen, beholden to them and dependent on their control. They give her the special sword she is seen wielding in this scene so she could cut off a new shard off the Sun Cryst (deifacted nethecite) and use it to destroy Archdia (and anyone else for that matter) because Venat, the outcast Occuria, had taught Cid to create manufacted nethecite. The Occuria had long since decided not to give humanoids any more nethecite, but Venat went against them and gave it to them on his own so they could become Gods and write their own history just as the Occuria had, so the remaining occuria had to give it to Ashe to try to maintain their position as 'true gods'. But rather to die then be a puppet, Ashe decided to use the Sword to actually destroy the Sun Cryst, but she couldn't. So Reddas did. That's the craziest part of the story, both Ashe and Cid and Venat all agreed that the Occuria and their nethecite had to be neutralized, it's just that Ashe didn't want to replace it with manufacted nethecite and god powers, while Cid was living his best life.
Even if this game was basically Ye Olde Star Wars, I loved playing it. Not so much for the story, not so much for the music, not so much for the gameplay, but just to hear them talk. The VA's were excellent, even if the story wasn't. Like this scene, the acting is superb.
Well, in FFXII there were 2 Cids, the "evil Cid"(Balthier's dad) and the "good Cid"(Al-Cid). Bahamut's so badass that even in a game that doesn't even feature him, he manages to get invoked as a God.
Ooh I havent seen this scene yet I just got to Giruvegan and faught the guardian near the waystone.. my guys are like 40+ and Im somehow getting owned when I use that waystone, so I stopped for awhile..
Um okay...there are two people in this game called cid...? I know the one with the blonde hair (bad one) is called cid, but there is another one with black hair hair (good one) called cid too. Hey isnt that the thing that took over fran and frans sister mind.
What a shitty day Gabranth had, the one day where he actually says something (That was longer than two sentences), he gets his ass kicked, then gets fired and smashed into a pillar xD
I thought everyone was being too harsh when I first read all the comments bashing Vaan's voice actor, but damn, everyone else is FLAWLESS and he just sounds like a whiny child. Case in point: 6:33 Talk about ruining a dramatic moment....
John Lee (the voice of Cid, I believe), is just amazing. He's just one of those people where you can tell that they put everything into the roles they're given.
I love how Vaan always has lines that basically sum up to "I'm part of this game too, I swear!"
Whenever you see Cid you can tell immediately where Balthier got that suave and charm of his :)
"Enough of this! I can bear no more!"
Even Cid's entrance is epic....
"...Fool of a pirate."
This is my favourite ff. I remember when i read a preview of this game on a magazine. Then i realized that the creators of ff tactics and vagrant story were behind this game and i got my ps2 especially for this masterpiece.
this fits much better as the final boss
Btw about Shakespeare.
have any one else noticed that square have suddenly been massing Shakespeare styled character and quotes?
This is my favorite scene in the entire game! I love it because of Cid's at his nuttiest and Reddas was so heroic... (cries for Reddas)
Cid, I think, is in all of them. Biggs and Wedge? I'm not sure, but I think at least most of them.
This is one of the best games I've ever played...
Love mad scientists so much :D
The last words of his Own Father
I don't know why but i found Cid to be the most awesome character in this game.
To bad he got so little screen time.
Cause his Voice Actor is so fking amazing and nailed it 🔥🔥🔥
Cid pretty much has become something like a FF mascot (next to the chocobo, of course)...or better the name has anyway. This is the first time I can think of that Cid was a bad-guy though. 11 good Cid's and then 2 evil Cid's, and the 2 evil Cid's are so much more awesome xD
13 was such a step down from this.
suuuuuuuuch good voice acting and writing
"how could you do this....how could you fall this far?
I just bought the game.. oh well.. I'll see this scene soon.
If this scene doesn't get you pumped for the battle then there is something wrong with you
theres another guy in this game named Cid to if i recall, or was it Sid, he had black hair and it was long and he wore shades when you first met him, he was supposed to be super charming or something.
is cid like a final fantasy icon cuz he appears in evrey single final fantasy in dis one he was a very good boss
@danny32602 they put him in the the dawn of souls remake. A Lufien mentions him. It's also implied that the Cid who narrates Dissidia IS the same Cid from 1.
0:00-0:08 See kids, this is why you shouldn't smoke. (I kid, Gabranth is pretty cool)
Redas had one of the most badass deaths in the entire game
I also find his backstory to be very moving. I’m sorry balthier..
Cid's voice actor did a really good job.
Out of all FF games that had voice-overs, FFXII is undoubtedly the best - the quality of voice acting is just phenominal.
It's like a little joke they do. Like Biggs and Wedge are in most as well. I think they are even called Wiggs and Bedge in one. Might be this one, can't remember.
voice acting suprised me...I actually enjoyed it, no annoying voices except the main character
@LionLostInTime I KNOW! Helps that they weren't just card-carrying-villains, of course.
FFXII is - I will admit - probably my favourite FF to date. I just love the world of Ivalice.
Damn you, Venat. They say they want to be free from the gods, but there is a god right there controlling them still.
I hope the next cids don't be evil anymore
Was. He used to be a judge magister. Judge Zecht.
Holy shit Gabranth. Sounds like he was an ashmatic who smoked 4 cigars a day and just won a marathon.
My favorite part of this phenomenal game.
@mooganify i know right!? The game is incredibly well written - it's like a dramatic Shakepearean saga, minus the farce.
Cids voice actor seems to be channeling his inner Connery x3
@AvatarWho He was retconned (as a mention) into FFI after the fact, but he wasn't in the original game.
vaan had a subplot with both him and ashe seeing raslas or whatever the name of ashes dead husband was. that was never fucking explained.

Well no, it plainly says in the English version that what Vaan had seen was his brother's image, while Ashe saw Rasler.
Cid was introduced in FFII, Biggs and Wedge were introduced in VI I think... not sure though...
painful for gabranth
@Shikomaru136 I think that FFI - or at least one of the remakes/re-releases - at least mentions that Cid BUILT the airship the party uses though.
He wanted the Occuria to tell her the whereabouts of the Sun-cryst.
Well, in FFXII there were 2 Cids, the "evil Cid"(Balthier's dad) and the "good Cid"(Al-Cid).
Bahamut's so badass that even in a game that doesn't even feature him, he manages to get invoked as a God.
aww fran and balthier. she seriously does need to shut up about that suncryst tho.. "it burns" yehh we get it
I Judge Magister Condemn You To Oblivion!
how awesome line... :)

@RebGenesis
The first pure evil Cid!

@sevenfootsativa
Well, some of them are Lucavi in FFt and boss in FFt adv 1
It's Al-Cid, the guy with the black hair. The spanishy guy. xD I admit, it is a bit confusing. O.o;

And 6, with Celes.
cool i am now by the great crystal and i hope i see this to soon!
the mist burns pff
wait a second! how is it in English? it hasn't even been released in English.
@scarecrow719 if FFXII was on the PS3, it would be so much more grand than how it is still on the ps2.
Ooh I havent seen this scene yet I just got to Giruvegan and faught the guardian near the waystone.. my guys are like 40+ and Im somehow getting owned when I use that waystone, so I stopped for awhile..
ok for people who didnt know cid is balthier father
Um okay...there are two people in this game called cid...? I know the one with the blonde hair (bad one) is called cid, but there is another one with black hair hair (good one) called cid too. Hey isnt that the thing that took over fran and frans sister mind.
Inspiring!
do the subtitles just a simplified version of what they are saying or are the voice actors improvising?
Cid see's the world on LSD lol *through Cid's eyes hes talking to sword carrying fruit lol*
bjork is a swedish singer.
all hail the "Cid's"!
theres a cid in every FF always diffrent.
Dr. Cid...he teleports? 0:50.
Dude, what's with the spoiler in the description :(
Epic game, even though it does have it's problems.
What a shitty day Gabranth had, the one day where he actually says something (That was longer than two sentences), he gets his ass kicked, then gets fired and smashed into a pillar xD
hmm docter cid has to be the best villain next to the bangaa group
cid was smart had an esper AND HE HELP MAKE BALTHIER lol well half

I thought everyone was being too harsh when I first read all the comments bashing Vaan's voice actor, but damn, everyone else is FLAWLESS and he just sounds like a whiny child. Case in point:
6:33 Talk about ruining a dramatic moment....
epic scene!
@Selvokaz
Well i was talkin about the facts that, in all final fantasy, there is only in ff12 Cid is a bad guy.
first time that cid is a bad guy.
Fran. Such a hypochondriac. o_o
I want a transcript of this game.
@Selvokaz Al-Cid Margrace, royal of Rozzaria. And I didn't even play the game!
Speeennnnnnnnnnd your pity elsewhere
So sad
The last words of his own father
@AdanRules66 it was around that time
@ykcamseyer unfortunately for you, he is
Fuck. Every voice actor in this game brought their A-game. Except Vaan's.
John Lee (the voice of Cid, I believe), is just amazing. He's just one of those people where you can tell that they put everything into the roles they're given.
I thought she was from Iceland...
Like, me too.
@thedementedkid64 Xept for Part one I thinks.

Funny cause I think 8 was the biggest load of shit i've ever seen.
as much as a i love final fantasy the ruined this one
big time
From 7 to 13-2, 12 was the worst in my opinion. Dislike me all you want.
