    Great video! Nice and relaxed explanation of what you’re doing and why. Easily brush the o rings with vaseline, nice work! Exactly the way i would like to work. 👍
    Was wondering if you tested the spraypattern, and if they leak, i think common problem on these injectors.

      I don't have a flow bench, that would be nice. This vehicle was in for a walnut blast and ran like a top after. I have seen two of these engines come in with injector pintles sticking open and heavy misfires before so you are correct.

    There are some up there but not very detail. Specifically showing the position of the valve before starting cleaning process

    How can one tell if the injectors simply need a cleaning as you have done or need to be replaced? We are getting a misfire code on cylinder 2 on our VW. We replaced the spark plugs and it still shows on that same cylinder and the power is down. It’s a 2009 Passat. Thanks for the info and sharing!!

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  4 роки тому +5

      The first thing I would do is swap #2 ignition coil with another. If the misfire moves cylinders then you know it needs a coil, which are very common. If no change, then run a compression test. All cylinders should be equal. If coils and compression are ruled out then suspect dirty valves are injectors. If engine has higher mileage then I would almost all but guarantee dirty valves. One common symptom of dirty valves is heavy misfires cold that get better warming up.

    Great Content!! What about a VW passat b6 (model 2008- 265000 km)?
    I bought it in 10/2018 with Siemens Injectors..used it for 10 months
    then started to break down..(start, power, ..). I changed the Siemens injectors (which VW don't use anymore) with Continental ones. They work well except for the Number 2.. eeven if i replaced it twice, the car still starts with difficulty and "vibrates'' when changing gear..i.e when about to reach 20000 turns/min..
    Could this be anything else than the injector itself?
    Thank you a lot
    And Cheers from Morocco

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  3 роки тому +1

      It could be a number of things. I would start off with the basics & check engine compression. All cylinders should be very close to each other, if not then you need to address that issue before anything else.
      I've started many 1.8 & 2.0 liters that misfired for the first few seconds and then smoothed out because of heavy carbon buildup on the valves. I have a walnut blasting video showing how to clean valves. It's a vr6 style engine but same principal applies. ua-cam.com/video/TgOopW8hfuQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=RainCityWrenchRainCityWrench
      A scanner would also come in real handy. Hope you get the problem solved.

    Greetings!! I run a 1.8tsi stock fuelling and its time to replace the injectors. Do you have any recommendations for upgraded plug and play injectors with the prospect later to upgrade turbo etc ? I have heard about Audi s3 8v gen 3 engine injectors that works on gen2...

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  3 роки тому +1

      I have no experience in that department. It will boil down to injector flow rates which will be listed by how many cc's the injectors flow. I would look at the available high performance kit options like some of these:www.urotuning.com/products/unitronic-mk1-tt-1-8t-big-turbo-performance-software-440cc-injectors-1?variant=12302758346807&Google%20Shopping&gclid=CjwKCAiApNSABhAlEiwANuR9YKc6q9Y2z7LRzMm4Y3CxuFw8MKncnsJR8G2sX0-BMRwthc-LDybEXhoCFZoQAvD_BwE
      If you run higher flow injectors you will need the ecu software upgrade to drive them otherwise the whole fuel curve will be messed up. Then there's the question of turbo, fuel rail, throttle body, exhaust upgrades, etc. If it were me, I would figure what performance level you want to go and make the change all at one. I would search the vw performance forums to get an idea of what to do and not to do. Cheers!

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  5 років тому

      Our shop has almost any make and model come in and yes we do a bunch of european vehicles. Before I bought my injector set, I used a coworkers tool to install the teflon seals. His tool kit is a plastic packet with just the install cones and sizer made for GM. It worked fine for the volkswagen I was working on. The set I own is for VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes? I would be willing to bet it removes, replaces seals, & installs almost any automotive direct injector. It was like $100 bucks. If you want the hotdog set, check out richv5721's comment.

    • @raincitywrench117

      I have been recommending walnut blasts on just about any direct injected engine with over 80,000 miles. Have done a couple cadillacs, two equinoxes, bunch of vw's, audi's. They pay excellent and the customers are so happy afterwards. Owners don't even know the valves will build deposits, lose power, random misfires, poor fuel mileage. I work with a guy from a ford dealer. He said half the shop tools are missing and some are misused. Good luck in your new job Kevin Avery.

    What was the reason for pulling these injectors?

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  5 років тому

      I had to remove the intake manifold to clean the valves and sometimes the injectors will stick in the fuel rail and pull loose from the cylinder head. Once that happens, the teflon seals need to be replaced before reinstalling so there is not a combustion leak.

    • @ClaudiuB
      @ClaudiuB 4 роки тому

      When you clean the valves is recommended to also check the injectors, and if you have a tool you can check also how they spray. It worth, at least for the effort of taking everything apart just to get access to the valves.

      I agree somewhat although these injectors can't be stripped and rebuilt. I believe only the factory has the correct equipment to do this and reset calibration.
