I live here and my neighbour was the farmer of that land and the surrounding 1000acres. He was 4 when it was all kicking off but his parents and family were the farmers of the land at the time. Some of the stories he’s got are amazing. In those 1000acres after the war there was 1000 bomb craters that were so big they had to be filled in with bulldozers. That crater you see there is probably one of the smaller ones deemed unnesesery to fill in. Literaly half a mile up the road there’s a Messerschmitt 109 with the pilot still inside it un retrieved. RAF tried to recovery it twice but it had gone too deep. We know exactly were it is. My neighbour saw it nose dive straight vertically down and it literally disappeared into the marsh. He says the raf tried recovering it twice but it’s gone so deep down through the clay and into an apparent jelly like substance? Apparently it should be well preserved. I could share multiple stories if you’d like of downed planes and were some of the remains sit rotting. One time a hurricane crash landed in the field further up now called the airstrip by locals for certain reasons…. All the village kids ran over and started exploring as kids do. One kid climbed in started pressing buttons and managed to shoot the front facing machine guns were the rest of his friends were standing, luckily none of them caught!
Channel 4 will be calling you up for a presenting job before for you know it! honestly this video is a prime example of why you became our favourite youtube channel.. So professionally done, a big well done to you both, from a slightly envious Em and Stu 👏👍😆
Thanks for another great video guys! it looks much much accessable than the Fobbing one, we have a list of Kent locations we'll be visiting in the new year and I'll add this to the list!
Thanks! Ahh cool, I don’t think we’ve been to that but we have a few more sites mapped in that area. Unless it’s the air raid shelters at salt lane. We know there’s also an overgrown decoy bunker for RAF Gravesend at Cliffe so maybe that’s it? (We still haven’t been!). We have a video of Cliffe Fort and more bits coming next week :)
That was bloody good mate nice one. I've been mean to try and get to this one for a while now, done fobbing ages ago. This one's in great condition probably because it's hard to get to lol. You've got Slough Fort nearby too. I thought there were more than just this one and fobbing left in existence, pretty sure there are others left, just not in as good condition.
Cheers Tom, cool yeah I’ve seen your Fobbing video with the ration review 👌. It is in nice condition, a lot less overgrown to better see the shape of it. I still (Liam) haven’t done Slough Fort but Joe has! Yeah there’s a lot more decoys around, but I think these might be the only QF oil decoys left
@@BeyondthePoint ahh I see, didn't know there were different types lol I shouldn't be questioning your knowledge on these things! I stand corrected, said the man in the orthopaedic shoes!
@@TOM_OUTDOORS Haha to be honest I only really learnt about this for the video 😂 it seems like they were used for all sorts of things, probably most are for airfields but there were also ones for cities and naval bases etc

Cheers! Definitely a good one to see for yourself
Good video lads. Keep the enthusiasm up!
I think i've seen a bunker like this tucked away in some trees at RSPB Cliffe Pools?
