Rat Race Sea To Summit Scafell Pike 2024

Video from the second of the Rat Race Sea To Summit Ultra’s, Scafell Pike. 33 Miles + 5,600ft Elevation! Along with 600 others, we left the start line on Seascale Beach in wave 2 and ran for the first mile on the sand, before running though villages and joining a stunning trail. We then ran 14 beautiful miles to the foot of Scafell Pike, where we were then treated to heavy rain, strong wind, thick fog, and freezing conditions… it was -2° at the top! Mid way up, who did we see? Our good friend Jon, who had come to cheer us on and was totally drenched, what a legend, this properly lifted the spirits! After chatting, we continued on our way up Scafell Pike, to the summit.
We then dropped back down and climbed a steep, rocky gully before making a second summit, this time to the top of Scafell Mountain. After eventually getting down, we then summited a 3rd mountain, which went on forever! We eventually got to the finish line near where we began, back in Seascale.
It was an absolutely brutal route but we made the most of it, and it was a total treat for the eyes! All of the thanks as always go to Rat Race, the Staff, Marshall’s and Medics. Next up is the final in this Sea To Summit Trilogy, Snowdon. This will be our 23rd Rat Race event!
