You have created a nice channel on UA-cam. I may get some technical ideas from it. I think a DJI drone would be a good added value to your creative work :)
Absolutely STELLAR video mate. Brings it all back in an instant. How you make such quality videos on the hoof is beyond me. It was a grand day out. See you at Three Shires 😉👍
The Borrowdale Fell Race is one I've really wanted to do since I took up running as my best mate's parents live in the valley and I know the area very well, having a spent a couple of weeks there every summer while I was a kid. One day I'll get back to the UK at the right time of year to run it. Fantastic vid of an amazing race, keep it up!
Great video, I’m the guy in the yellow/green coat on top of Bessy. By the time the runners came through and we checked the numbers, We only had time to get back down and grab a pint before they started coming through the finish. In which time you lot had ran the entire thing and got there at the same time, Beasts!
Ah thanks glad you liked the vid. And thanks for marshalling it was an awesomely run event! Really enjoyed it. That first ascent up Bessy was a killer too. I’ll be coming back next year to improve on my time 🤘🏻🙂
Well done John. As a road runner I was wishing for a stretch where you could get into your stride, but it seems that's not what fell running is about. See the girls and guys slipping in the scree. OMG my legs would be jelly 🙂
I know what you mean ‘getting into your flow state’ seems impossible however, the flow is that there is no flow. You zone in and switch off and your legs do the rest. A totally different experience to road running. 😉
I came to fell racing late, and often looked at the Borrowdale! I think you needed some solid experience to qualify for entry? I remember it said don’t rely on following the runner in front of you😏
Hey man thanks for watching. 100% you need experience but I’d say it’s experience of being in the fells and moving fast over the ground, not necessarily from races. Additionally, knowing your limitations and being honest about that. Be comfortable with being in the fells in adverse conditions solo and skilled in navigating yourself to safety if needed and navigating in general. Yes you’re right you shouldn’t rely on following the runner in front, the reality though is when there’s 300+ runners there’ll be one or two within sight. However, I’ve found myself surrounded in clag totally in my own in numerous occasions during races compass and map in hand. If you’re happy with all that you should defiantly go for the Borrowdale next year. Hope to see you there 🤘🏻🙂
@@lakelandtrailrunner I loved my short spell of fell running. Travelling up from London. ‘Feet in the Clouds’ got me started. I did Helvelyn across the Dodds! Fairfield horseshoe! Tinto hill in Scotland. Isle of White fell series. Also ran up and down Ben Nevis, and all around Glencoe in Scotland… Beachy head marathon… Two new hips later, and stem cell transplant for blood cancer. Am now running again. 66 now, and 10k race across Exmoor in May 2024👍🏽
Thanks Mark. Had the day off work hence the quick turn around 😉 I actually made the cut off with more time than I originally thought I had 36 minutes. 👌🏻
Love the rawness to your race videos, class!

Snappy bit of editing to get it out so quickly and good going on the race. How close were you to the Honister cut-off?
