Im 30 years old and ive developed numbess in my fingers and toes 100% of the time from chemotherapy. My oncologist prescribed me gaba. No relief yet, I'm wondering if i need to switch medicine or take supplements. This is so frustrating.
It can help some people. I take it and it helps a little,.. but the problem is that I never could take more than 600 milligrams a day ,.. which really is to much because I can’t function properly and my mind gets very disoriented,…”why is this, do you know? Some people can take very high doses and do well with it. I feel that if I took those very high doses,.. I probably wouldn’t feel any pain at all,.. but then I wouldn’t even know if I was on planet Earth!!!..lol
I've been prescribed 8 600 mgs of gabapentin since 2004 for plp from auto accident aka right leg. Was separated from gab for several days one time since prescribed. Withdrawal was horrendous. Not really sure if or how much it helps. Also have been taking methadone and know for certain it helps.
I've been on Gabapentin for approx. 2 mths., have had my dosage increased to 900 mg. per day and it barely touches the severe, chronic pain from a pinched nerve caused by a disc bulge (not confirmed yet, MRI's in March). I get more relief from laying over two pillows and doing exercises but I don't think they're helping too much. Now I can't sit down for more than 5 min. without excruciating pain where the pinched nerve is, I always have a lumbar cushion behind me and a heating pad and have been using ice packs too. I hope there's an end in sight soon!!!😢
Personal experience had t I move to Lyrica which I higher gabapine med. It is imperative to move your body to keep blood circulation forgeries prepare. Many utube videos on vitamins. Ck for any deficiencies.
BULLSHIT... I have been in pain and had numbness in my arm from a pinched nerve in my neck after a injury and it worked. I'm just concerned about the fluid that I feel after since it has released the inflammation...
Put me in the ER. I have a cervical radiculopathy Dr. Ordered it, couldn’t walk, broke out in lesions. Not for me. Neurologist ,have an easy job, just pretend you know what you are talking about. NP, and PA are useless, not qualified to practice
It's interesting because they keep upping my gabapentin dose over the years but I think it does nothing, now tramadol seems to help but it just dulls the pain i still feel it and the pain still intense...I wish there was a way to resolve this
Always work with your doctors about something like this. I take up to 300 mg per day for nerve pain caused by having had 12 debridement surgeries due to contracting necrotizing fasciitis. Before gabapententin my leg felt like it was literally on fire. My doc prescribed gabapentin with the clear understanding it may not work and that he wanted me to keep him aware of any or all side effects. Gabapentin literally has saved me from a life of deranged pain. I can always tell when I have forgotten to take a dosage because my leg literally feels like popcorn of little firecrackers going off constantly wearing me down with fatigue and pain. I don't know why some people gain no relief and some do. I am for one am grateful for it... Wish every one well here searching for relief.
I am convinced that I have sciatica it just comes on and every time I stand up it’s exactly as it is described and I am in complete agony and I am going to my brother to get some. I can’t take this any freaking more because they’ll be like oh she’s drug seeking because all these jerks take it to get high.
Glad you found relief! Your Doctor sounds awesome, he’s a keeper. Most don’t mention side effects or monitor it that closely. It can definitely be helpful but I hate to see people suffer from the side effects without the benefits.
I have been on Pregabalin 75mg. for 8 years for my Neuropathy in my hands and legs and feet for the last 8 years from Cancer treatment . Lately I have noticed I am starting to have a problem walking straight. I walk like I am drink. Is their anything else I can take. I have tried Gabapenetin it just makes me dizzy all the time.
I’m very happy that it worked for you. However; I developed CRPS due to a routine ankle surgery. I was prescribed Gabapentin. It didn’t work and I was taking close to 5000 mg a day. I also agreed to a ketamine treatment, as well as a lumbar sympathetic nerve block. Nothing has helped. It is so frustrating. I have been in constant extreme pain since January 16 when I had the ankle surgery.
@@tinanickerson1006 lumbar stenosis server L4 l5-s1, chronic pain, before I get surgery I have to try gabapentin and PT. I take 1600 mg of Gabapentin a day. It helps with the pain during the day but at night is a different story. Thanks for sharing this information. Stay safe and God Bless.
Thanks for sharing! Glad it at least provides some relief during the day. Alpha lipoic acid and benfotiamine are some good supplement that can help as well as the other options listed at the end of the video.

Wow, I take 600mg time release Gabapentin at night, just was upped to 2 (1200mg) and I was so loopy I rolled out of bed on to the floor trying to turn my morning alarm off!😲😲😲
I agree. Neither Gabapentin or Pregabalin helps at all!! In fact it encouraged weight gain. Back in 2003 following emergency removal of my gall bladder l took Gabapentin and it did help. However in the last three years neither drug helped at all for pain .
I take 500 mg of B1 600 mg of alpha lipoic acid every single day sometimes I need to take it twice if the pain gets that bad it usually gets aggravated when I eat carbs or sugar. This is kept my diabetic and neuropathy at Bay for years.
Well I’ve been on it less than 2 weeks now. Even at a low dose of 100mg I felt relief after the first dose. I’m dealing with herniated disc/ degenerative disc disease / sciatica. So idk how that fits into your information, but it does work.
I've been taking Gabapentin for three years for my Neuropathic Itching which happens a lot from my scalp to my feet.A few weeks ago,I was told by a neighbor who has that same problem that he took Gabapentin and it didn't do anything, but when he switched to Pregabalin, his Itching went away.Would you or anyone else here, please share your thoughts and suggestions on this?It would be greatly appreciated
I don’t know a lot about pregabalin, it may be worth talking to your prescribing physician about giving it a try especially if gabapentin isn’t doing much for you.
I found Pregabalin was no use either. Convinced though l gained weight but no pain relief on my Peripheral Neuropathy. Gabapentin was hopeless too.. Sorry..😊
Not so for everyone....I take up to 3 doses of Gabapentin equalling 300 mg a day. It was and continues to be an absolute life safer for me. Before taking gabapentin I suffered angry nerve pain from 12 debridement operations. I almost lost my life and limb to necrotizing fasciitis. I remember my doctor telling me it's not for everyone so keep me aware of things. Not sure why it works for some people and not others...but to make blanketed statements saying people should stay away from treatment with gabapentin is the wrong advice. Always work with your docs to find out what's is best for your particular issue.
I’m among me 20%, and I am so grateful. It took me a little while to get over the drowsiness of gabapentin, but now my life is quite different because of it. No longer feels like my feet and calves are sizzling in hot oil. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater… gabapentin apparently has very good results for some people.
I have sensory motor polyneuropathy. I’ve taken up to 1800 of gabapentin and it did nothing for me. I believe my neuropathy is from vitamin deficiencies.
It's definitely worth optimizing your vitamin and mineral status. There's no such thing as a drug deficiency but vitamin and mineral deficiencies are real and quite common. a good place to start could be a methylated B-complex
WOAH! I am in the hospital following above the knee amputation. My phantom pain is crippling, Ive been on Gabapentin at my request because before nothing was being done about the neuropathy.
What’s the fix for numb foot from back surgery? Sciatic nerve compressed bad and too long still numb after revision fusion? Should I worry about it or just deal?
You’re welcome! Definitely work with your Doctor. It may be worth a trial, but if it’s not working (common) move on to something else. Hope you get relief!
I'm glad it has helped some people, gabopentin was an AWFUL experience for me...I through it down my sink after 2 weeks...won't ever have that in my household again.
I know what you mean I developed bad withdrawal symptoms when I stop taking did not know to tapper off it got a bad case of vertigo and other symptoms it a bad drug I would never touch it again
I always tell myself i still dont know whats wrong with me. Doc says tale the Gabbies. I dint like those but i thought i was the only one that felt it doesnt work. I need something for my severe swelling. There are a million things going on with me, ill never wish this on anyone.
I have idiopathic neuropathy in both feet. 600mg gabapentin at night provides SIGNIFICANT relief for me. I have tried and used or use most of the drug alternative recommendations. The relief usually lasts until mid day.
I have had peripheral Neuropathy caused by diabetes. Gabapentin did work great, but the side effects are considerable. In 2022 I got a pancreas transplant and am no longer diabetic, the neuropathy does not go away once you have it. I take Pregablin now, but, it too, has a plethora of side effects. Now I am looking into getting something to replace this.
Gabupentin did absolutely nothing for me beyond making me lose respect for my doctor for just wanting throw pharmaceuticals at symptoms.
Magnesium Glycinate has helped tremendously.

I'm on 900mg per day. Have been on it for several months. It isn't doing anything to reduce my pain.
