@MLanning Yes, but the technique they taught at the audition does it more so in that they use their wrist for everything except forte/fortissimo strokes. If you utilize gravity and let your arm fall to the side, it takes less effort on the up stroke to produce the same sound. Having said that, I'm just a high school bass drummer. There is probably a reason Pulse uses the technique they do. They probably even talked about it at the audition, I just don't really remember.
@cheeseman4444 Playing with a more flat technique with mostly wrist closely emulates a lot of what you do on a flat drum, which would create a more natural feel to drumming. I personally don't teach that technique, because it's not the way I was taught, but it makes a lot of sense. I've been thinking I might switch, but I'm just too damn stubborn.
@MLanning I dunno, it feels weird to me because the technique I've been taught is more about letting your arm fall and bringing it back up. Pulse uses a break of the wrist, so it feels like you're fighting gravity rather than working with it.
bass 4: fuck yea, new mallets
bass 4 "yea. fuck your new mallets"
My instructor on bass 5 😤
@BSBINC1 Yes. I prefer to remember her as the top bass from Black Knights 2007, but I might be biased.
And for the record, there are plenty of videos on youtube that prove you wrong.

@cheeseman4444 Its looks pretty comfortable.
what kind of camera is this?
@cheeseman4444 I'm not sure I get what you are saying. I have never seen any bass technique that isn't fighting gravity. Its the nature of the drum.
Does anyone have the music for this?
@snarerator I didn't get the memo :x
making an observation is not being an ass...even if he is wrong
i auditioned for pulse this year. their technique is really weird.
I like how you try to sandwich your insult with a couple compliments. News flash! You are still being an ass.
