christopher draper One of the broadcasters first called it a breaking ball and then corrected himself after another broadcaster said it was a curve ball.
I love how the one that get's the most time here is the most unreasonable one. Maybe it's just because I know the context, but that Marisnick play was unfortunate, not dirty. If you watch a replay from the first base side, you see that both Lucroy and Marisnick step in the same direction at the same time. It was just a shitty misfortune. The HBP was unwarranted, and certainly that high.
@@txbill2512 It actually does because you're wrong. I have broken this clip down multiple times across multiple videos. It is 100% without a doubt intentional. Yeah, I agree, throwing his bat was bad, but it doesn't matter if it was a breaking ball. In fact, that is the perfect excuse in that instance. He throws it in TWICE to begin the bat, followed by one over the plate, then hits him... Of course Pedro should be upset at it. I don't blame him, though he probably shouldn't have thrown the bat like that. And I don't understand what the announcers were getting at. "Leaning into it"... WHAT?!?!? HE DUCKED!!!!! You see a ball flying at your head, not knowing rather it is a fastball or breaking ball is a moot point, what is your instinct? To DUCK!!!!!

Another unwritten rule is having a hometown player in the home run derby. In 2012, there was no royal in the derby, and the crowd kept chanting butler, while others were batting because he was having a good year. Think you could include this if you did a part 6?
the one on Lucroy, he clearly tried to avoid him. he say lucroy line up on the outside, and 100% took the inside, but the throw then brought lucroy inside. im a phillies fan, but was at the first game after this that marasick played at angel stadium. booooed him like crazy. hes a good dude
Joe The Truck Guy exactly like anyone who watches the replay can obviously tell he wasn’t trying to deck into him. Lucroy got taken directly into jakes path and it was too late for him to do anything. Just an unfortunate situation

That clip where marisnick (however you spell his name) runs into Lucroy was not intentional, he said it was a split decision to try and deke lucroy but the catcher stayed with him and boom collision.
Scuzzithree he went inside because almost all the time the play at home is outside on the foul side of the line, he went inside to try to avoid the tag but the catcher stayed inside too. The guy wanted to go inside because he thought, and fairly so that the catcher was gonna go outside where that play is made most of the time. It was a bad call.
As he says there is a lane outside and the catcher knew that the runner was running on the outside so he was on the inside, but was also in front of the plate which is where all the catchers should be on a play like this
Imagine the terrible situation we would be in if Marisnick got hit in the head by that ball and it broke his face. That was stupid by the Angles. Hit him low.

@@cadekuster1301 ua-cam.com/video/qe3qCWHVh68/v-deo.html Oh ... the inhumanity of playing catcher. Lucroy was on the line, appearing to be setting up outside. Both the runner and the catcher go inside, which the angles shown here do not show. Marisnick lifted his arm in defense of the collision. It was not malicious. It was an unfortunate happening. No way is it meant to intentionally hurt the catcher as many of the collisions in that video I am using as an example. I'm guessing you are just a Angels or Cardinals fan. The only 2 teams or people affiliated with them, that think this is an absolute horrible act of intent. If Marisnick isnt a class act, I guess he was telling his teammates to get back in the dugout so he can wipe out the catcher again if the opportunity presents himself after being hit by a pitch. 4:48 if you pause, is the moment both Lucroy and Marisnick shifted their momentum from outside to inside of the line. The replay where it shows Marisnick running from 3rd to home, which is hardly shown anywhere, you can see the decisions made, that led up to the collision. According to the new rules by the letter, he is out, however there should be consideration when a catcher also changes his positioning in order to get the runner to deviate from his running path. I don't believe Lucroy was trying to do that, I think he was setting up for his glove hand to sweep Marisnick but the ball was coming to his right shoulder and he turned inside to catch it at the same moment Marisnick also decided to go inside and it was too late to alter back. It should be a judgement call on whether there is intent. I bet you if it were Boston or New York, there would be more discussion about whether the rule needs to be amended or even if their players would be out.
Fuck that if the runner thinks his best chance at scoring is going inside and the catcher takes that lane away (which he should) the catcher should be prepared to accept the consequences

The part that always cracks me up, other than the loose interpretation of the term fight, is when the bullpens jog out, most of the time literally right next to each other, but don't start jawing until they're in the infield
“Hitters with big upper bodies can’t hit pitches high and tight.” Who was this announcer?
More mass higher up means it takes longer to lean back to hit an inside pitch. His arms are long enough to reach for a pitch on the outside corner.
That upper body caused him to lean in quite a bit on the high inside which pitchers dont like which demonstrated here they like to have the entire strike zone open so I guess step back some if you're gonna lean in that much
Chris Rozens have u not played a game of baseball in ur life?
It’s called jamming up the batter.
His bat will break or he will hit a full pop fly. Ur have a damn low baseball IQ
@@christopherdraper5815 I've never played though done batting in the nets here in the UK and pitched a few as I played cricket and even I could grasp why it's much more difficult for a larger player to get any/good contact when the ball is thrown closer to the body, it's not much different in cricket tbh.
As Cap Fantastic explained, the announcer was Ralph Kiner, who hit over150 more home runs in a 10 year career than Pedro Guerrero hit in his 15 year career. Ralph was an early proponent of weightlifing in baseball. He knows exactly what he's talking about.

As long as MLB doesn’t just tank there will be many more episodes.
Yea
Just once I want the Bullpens to start brawling in the outfield before they even make it to the baseline
5:10 what people might not see cuz the frame isnt shown is that the runner tried to avoid the catcher. The announcers mention it too. The catcher was outside but the throw took him inside, but by that point the runner was already trying to go inside to avoid him, hence the collision at full speed
The announcers were so damned biased on the second vid

christopher draper One of the broadcasters first called it a breaking ball and then corrected himself after another broadcaster said it was a curve ball.
Why did you replay the same clip
It's the same clip but different commentary from different broadcasts.

Curveball or not, it hit him. He didnt lean, he ducked which is what anyone’s instincts will tell you to do. Plus the heater that WAS INSIDE and would of gave him free facial reconstruction surgery if it hit him.

I've been on this baseball anomaly *binge watch* lately. So cool. By the way, I never watch Baseball.
Is it just me or does anyone else that it’s a beautiful sight to see the bullpens run all the way in to support their respective players?
Here's an idea, padlock both bullpens & only unlock them when a reliever is activated & then lock it back up. We don't need them in bench clearing brawls! The dugouts provide ample excitement for the fans! 😂😂😂👍👍👍
That clip where marisnick (however you spell his name) runs into Lucroy was not intentional, he said it was a split decision to try and deke lucroy but the catcher stayed with him and boom collision.
UnfairTomb0556 Gaming it doesn’t matter he puts his shoulder into his face and he went inside instead he went towards him
Scuzzithree he went inside because almost all the time the play at home is outside on the foul side of the line, he went inside to try to avoid the tag but the catcher stayed inside too. Marisnik was trying to avoid a tag by not being where the catcher thought he would be but it didnt work. The dude felt terrible about it, its not like he wanted to hurt him. Of course hes going to he low, hes diving for the plate, he didnt “lower his shoulder” into him to hurt him.

The guy wanted to go inside because he thought, and fairly so that the catcher was gonna go outside where that play is made most of the time. It was a bad call.
As he says there is a lane outside and the catcher knew that the runner was running on the outside so he was on the inside, but was also in front of the plate which is where all the catchers should be on a play like this
Make sure you know your facts before commenting on this stuff

Agreed. There’s a clear lane to the outside of the plate, that’s the lane you use with a ball coming from right field for sure. Lucroy didn’t step on inside, and the guy fucking lowered his shoulder and just laid him out
@@cadekuster1301 ua-cam.com/video/qe3qCWHVh68/v-deo.html Oh ... the inhumanity of playing catcher.
The bullpens running out onto the field during fights has to be one of the most ridiculous things in sports lmao
