    Having done this hike twice, the first time was sleeping in the huts and no sleep, why do people need to go through their backpack in the middle of the night!?!And people need to learn "headtorch etiquette" The second time was all tented...so much better! Thanks for the video, some great tips for people going on the OL. And don't catch the ferry, that last section is a little more challenging but our "rule" was that "keep the lake on the left and your going in the right direction". It makes the beer and burger at the end all the better!! Thanks guys.

      We completely agree, did not sleep at all while in the hut 😂 nobody seems to consider the fact that everyone else is trying to sleep! Definitely, walking the last section from Narcissus was beautiful. I don't understand why everyone takes the ferry but each to their own.

    Helpful tips. Thanks for sharing. I haven’t walked the overland for many years, but would love to get back soon. It’s good to know what has changed and what hasn’t (e.g. the possums).

    • @AdventuresofKatelyn
      @AdventuresofKatelyn  2 роки тому +1

      I think the possums will always be there! Thanks for the positive feedback and I hope you get out there and do it again some time soon!

    • @fionaludbrook8193

      Possums were only a problem at Lake St Claire itself back in 1988. I wonder that the lack of quolls and Tassie Devils has allowed them to get to packs, where once these predators would have had themon their menus. Ditto the rats at Echo Point hut!

    Narcissus to Cynthia Bay is nowhere near 30kms!

    • @AdventuresofKatelyn
      @AdventuresofKatelyn  3 роки тому

      Sorry that was just a guess, I just checked and it's 17.5km. Still a lot that you miss out on by catching the ferry!

    highly recommended NOT to stay at echo point hut...listen to a local born has been the rat king's family's house for years...yeah the beach is fine but he still comes out there too and munches through ya tent letalone ya food bags that's why there is those big steel bins out the front....I walked in and back out from the bottom it's 17kms each way.....and climbed Gould's plataue.....🎉

    • @AdventuresofKatelyn
      @AdventuresofKatelyn  2 роки тому

      Each to their own, us and two other campers there that night were all fine camping on the beach. Sometimes the adventure is worth the risk 😀 well done on your climb!

      @@AdventuresofKatelyn when I was walking back out we had two tourists packing up saying that the rat king came over to the beach and raided the tent and there food too...I hear the snakes are well fed on them out there so maybe he got eaten up since my climb...yeah cheers was just giving a heads up that's all so many entry notes in the echo point hut saying don't leave gear or sleep in here 🤣🤣🤣

      @@AdventuresofKatelyn was at echo point hut yesterday and two days ago journal says black king rat is still about lol 😂🤣👍
      People just camp on beach and leave bags in the steel bins 😌

    How bad is it that wildlife are pestering for food in these remote areas. Too many people are lazy and leave food around or feed wildlife.

    • @AdventuresofKatelyn
      @AdventuresofKatelyn  Рік тому

      Agreed, it's so bad that they know how to open zips and find our food. Not natural at all
