We're Eamon and Bec, a Canadian couple who previously lived and traveled full-time in our self converted Sprinter Van!! When the pandemic hit in 2020 we made the difficult decision to abandon our van in Africa and fly home to Canada. Now we're here... living at a cabin in the Canadian wilderness! Things are coming to a close after nearly 1 year of cabin renovations. As we prepare to head back to Morocco to rescue our van, we are making the most of our time left with family and friends including hosting a bachelorette party for my (Bec) sister 💜. Sooo, with 12 ladies headed to the cabin we need to kick Eamon out of the house and challenge him to 24 hours alone in the wilderness.

We've always envisioned moving into the woods by the lake and building our dream tiny cabin as a home base for us to come back to in between our international van life travels. I have a boat and we can do plenty of things out of the water or go to the parks because they are beautiful hit the boardwalk and see king Neptune or do a little trip up to the mountains it would be awesome and I would love to hang with y’all!

@@1771bubba feeling you and your heart. My best buddy passed away 8 years ago. We did the road trips, the camping, the hiking. I think that is why Eamon and Bec appeal to me so much. They remind me of "us" many years ago.
I too enjoyed Eamon's solo trip. His comments that the adventures are better with his buddy is so true. My buddy was killed 16 years ago. I try to make all my adventures count for two. Be safe and cherish.

We call it "Leave No Trace" in the US and yes, very good words to live by.
@@Amy-yr2bg I was always taught leave no trace and leave it better than you found it are different. LNT is for nature, it should literally appear you weren't there...so it can't be better. At campsites it should be better, you should clean up and fix if you can.

Note to Eamon: there are certain things you should keep ready to go for such spontaneous trips. I have a small “chuck box” that has dedicated camp kitchen gear, including a can opener, a single burner propane stove and a pocket rocket, as well as cooking/eating utensils, a collapsible wash sink, paper towels, pot holders, etc. I also have a vanity bag that has tooth brush, tooth paste, razor, shampoo, soap, etc. in it. It’s SO much easier to remember 2 things than 20. FYI: I also use a cheap mesh laundry bag to store my kayak paraphernalia in. Again, easier to remember 3 things (boat, paddle, and “boat bag”) than many.

I really felt Eamon when he missed Bec. For over a decade I use to take my annual 3 weeks of travel to China to recharge; When my husband didn’t go I would put off new adventures because I wanted to experience them with him.
You and Bec should do an off camera staycation on ‘No Bear Island’.

I loved this! My mother-in-law is an avid kayaker...she does these kinds of camping trips with her friends a few times a year, not only in lakes, but ocean kayaking as well. It looked like so much fun. I'd be talking to myself too. 100% 😊

I rolled my eyes at the title of this episode, but was pleasantly surprised by the compact storytelling and sweetness of it. I am an “Alone” addict, too, so the references were fun but not overdone. The contrast between the gals/guy was nicely balanced. See you next Sunday.
Eamon did a wonderful job finding a hidden gem and making the most out of what he had! Hope you had a fun Bachelorette weekend too with the girls. Maybe next weekend you both back a bag for each other and then you have to survive off of only what the other person backs for the other!
Just a suggestion for future camping expeditions; buy a cast iron skillet versus using chemically coated Teflon pan, plus it will last a lifetime when kept seasoned. Look up Lodge or Smithey. Bonus: the food tastes incredible in cast iron.

Maybe you can get there all together on the pontoon. If you can't dock the pontoon at the shore of the island, You can drag the canoes behind the pontoon, to use them to get to the island from the boat. That would be an adventure to show us!
