This episode was amazing. The show was always finding new ways to show how, with different circumstances and experiences, how differently people's lives can turn out.

This scene is an excellent performance of John Pyper-Ferguson. There's nothing to improve in his script and actuation. Just excellent.

I like how he just trails off when he talks about how his Dad tried to "fix" him and toughen him up. You really don't have to fill in the rest. And yet despite all of this, it was the unconditional love of just one person that set him right.

    The saddest scene:
Peter: Thank god you're here, Olivia.
    Olivia: ......who are you?

No, shut up. Walter's death scene / deleted from existence scene. All of you can be quiet because all your sad scenes got happy again. The last scene of the last episode KILLED ME.

This was my favourite episode of this season. Maybe my favourite of the last two seasons.... I often have reservations about Fringe, but this episode was beautiful. Like Season 6's "Milagro" in the X-Files, it reminds us that there really are good writers, great actors and spark of genuine creativity within all the corporate crap, pandering to demographics and losing track of their own plots.

That was fairly depressing... but the saddest scene in Fringe (in my opinion) was from the episode "Peter." Elizabeth begging Walter to turn the window on again so that she can see Peter on the other side. That made me cry like a bitch.

Yes. Walter thought he had the right idea by showing how happy Peter was somewhere, but instead it just tortured her..

Very good episode. John Pyper-Ferguson is one of the best "That Guy" actors.

I agree, I loved him in the Last Ship and then several months ago I came across Brothers and Sisters and it took me awhile to realize it was him in the show.

@@sarahswomley2580 He has a way of disappearing into a role...more so than a lot of actors, I think. His two roles in The X-Files couldn't have been more different: long-haired, bearded prison escapee and buttoned-down detective. You need the credits to realize it's the same guy.

Even sadder than this, was that his alt-counterpart, having finally found the peace and conscience he'd been looking for all his life, was so distraught by the things he'd done, killed himself.

I'm not American (the shot of the alternate Two Towers didn't even occur to me) but I can see why that would have had such an impact with you guys.
Someone with editing skills needs to make a top ten list of emotional Fringe scenes...with voting. We'd all find some fault with it. They'd be lively debates in the comments. But it'd be a great video.

Ahhh I remember this, I found lots of it oddly relatable, which was kind of depressing... So is the fact this was already a year ago!!.. omg... :(

*shrug* Like I said, "in my opinion". A lot of it depends on circumstance I think. My response to the Two Towers scene was "cool" while many New Yorkers found it to be one of the most powerful scenes. I found the scene with Marilyn Dunham in 3x01 really depressing because I could relate to it. I found "Peter" really depressing because the acting was so damn good. I didn't find Olivia dying particularly sad because my reaction was along the lines of "as if you'd really do it."
