Ericsson’s talent finally vindicated but won’t be long before O’Ward tastes INDY 500 victory. McLaughlin’s “wicked wiggle” granted him two massive impacts for the price of one. This race never disappoints.

6th in 2020, 4th in 2021 and 2nd in 2022. Pato has the talent, today had the car, hopefully the next year the luck to win the race.
Yeah and passed by Simon to be denied of a podium on the final lap last year as well.
would've been great to see Pato win Indy 500 immediately after seeing Checo win Monaco today
My thoughts also - I was living in Monterrey for 3yrs about the time that O'Ward was starting out in carts several years later I was in Texas when he moved to San Antonio - I hopefully will have a lot more years to cheer for him (rumor is he might replace poor Daniel Ricardo from McLaren F1 if Daniel doesn't start doing better - another Red Bull$#!t casualty in their efforts to promote a spoiled whiney arrogant snot nosed brat - hopefully Checo fairs better than his 3 predecessors)
maybe next year will be the one
@@etimc Indycar is better. Formula 1 has lost credibility. Going to Formula 1 would be a mistake because only a couple of drivers can win. This race showed what can be achieved with hard work and skill. Ericsson had no chance in F1 because he couldn't get into a competitive car. In Indycar the driver can make the car competitive and go down in history. Now Checo has won Monaco, I'd like to see him come over to Indycar and have a go at the 500. He has the ability.

It’s funny that f1 fans come and comment for the sole purpose to hate on Indycar because they know deep down it produces better racing
Half the incidents happened during commercials but that was only because half the race was run during commercials.
Unfortunately that's what Indycar needs to survive.
No commercials on sky sports F1 channel got too watch the whole race .
@@markmurphy8303 That's a paid subscription correct? (Like $12 per month) Most Americans won't even spend $5 per month for Peacock.
I don’t understand how people in the USA withstand that kind of treatment! Watching it in Europe, it’s literally half the race without commentators because of the commercial brakes. It’s insane!
WORD. The TV coverage from NBC was nothing short of a disgrace. 22 laps to go, commercial break of like 5 moronic ads (the usual break) return and it's FOUR LAPS TO GO. 18 of the last 22 laps were during ads. Then they'd cut to that stupid EDM stage or that idiot in a swan paddle boat like they think their audience is made up of utter morons that care nothing about racing. F1 being covered in this shoddy disrespecful way-to the race, the drivers, the teams, and the fans-would be unthinkable. This HAS to change. Let a streaming service have the rights.

@@tomt9543 Oval racing is all about slipstream. The leader usually shift to one side to try to break the slipstream and everyone just follows.
@@tomt9543 It's to break the draft and disrupt the air in the back. It only works well with fast cars like these. Other racing series' youll lose time because of the power difference
What skillful driving to defend his lead at the end!
Listen to his post win interview or the bit from Racer. He put into practice the advice he got from Franchitti the night before. The bobbing and weaving he did prevented Pato from getting slip stream that would have allowed a pass.
So happy to see Marcus thriving in IndyCar. He never really got the recognition he deserved in F1.
No, he got smacked by a rookie Leclerc and was beaten by Pascal Wehrlein, he wasn’t anywhere close to this good in F1, in Indy he’s been great tho

Congratulations to O'Ward - I was really pulling for him to win, but 2nd is no shame (I lived in Monterrey Mexico for 3 yrs about the time he started racing carts when the Indy\Kart cars still raced at fundidora and GA Tickets were only 35 dollars ) also congrats to another Mexican who a few hours earlier won F1 GP at another legendary track in Monaco - a good day for Mexican Racing

That was my first Indy 500, and I must say, it was fricking awesome
Would have been amazing if Mexico (Pato and Checo) did a repeat of what Australia did in 2018 with Daniel Ricciardo and Will Power winning 2 crown jewels on the same day. But what Pato has accomplished is nothing short of awesome, in that car he's fighting the Andretti, Ganassi and Penske guys.
still got a chance for checo and pato to win a double wdc for Mexico in F1 and indycar this season. they are currently P3 and P2 in the championship
@@Joshayne i love Palou and McLaughlin but if Pato wins this year, that means superlicense will be unlocked = arrivederci Ricciardo
Meanwhile Ferrari is doing what they've done when Alonso and Vettel were title contenders = sabotaging themselves, feel bad for Leclerc and Sainz because they don't deserve that treatment, specially in a so called top championship team. If they remove themselves from the championship fight it might turn into a Vettel vs Webber 2010 battle and I'd love to see that happen, unless RB does something otherwise
I am genuinely super pumped for Ericsson.
I grew up in Kokomo. listening to the race on my transistor radio. Back when I first got intrested in the race it took four hours to complete the race. Attended the race in 1977. Fourth turn six rows up.
Great to see Marcus on the top step. Brilliant job.
I wanna see O'Ward in an F1 race and see what he can do,what a talent
But he just signed contract with AMSP until 2025
If Daniel Ricciardo loses his seat at the end of this year, he could make the switch to F1. He's recently signed up for the next few years with the McLaren SP Indycar team so they were obviously keen to keep him in the McLaren family.

What an epic fail by NBC/Indycar. The coverage I got to see was about the size of my laptop with the other 2/3rds of the TV screen commercials-as many as 8 in a row-I counted them and what I saw mostly was the rear wing of the leader. When they came back to full screen they showed some jagoff peddling a swan and covered him more fully than the race-I turned the channel. Later I watched the ABC/ESPN coverage of Monaco. Excellent camera work and race analysis. Indy made me appreciate DIRTVison and Floracing even more.
Totally need to start a petition to get IndyCar on FloRacing for their next contract 👍
The 2 final laps were amazing
Scott Dixon: "I think I'm cursed at Indy."
Andretti family: "First time, huh?"
Nice work
Good job
Solid defending and racing at the end
I'm a UK formula one fan and an American friend told me to check out Indy car a formula I've often dismissed in the past firstly I can't get over the size of the crowd at Indy 500 and now after watching a good few race videos I have to say I'm a convert the racing is great with cars able to follow each other closely and seeing them on the ovals is awesome that takes some balls to race an open wheel, open cockpit car on an oval. I did see the CART version on Indy car when they came and raced here in the UK and both meetings were proper processional snoozefest with no overtaking at all but this is awesome racing cars look great and loads of action. 👍🏻
as an f1 fan i am so happy for Marcus!
I have to say, Indycar is better than f1 in ways and I'm not even an American, I'm aussie and I absolutely love it from a driving perspective. This race was epic.
Been a fan of both series since the days of the Tyrrell P34. They are very different, but each is great in their own way. Hope, you stick around IndyCar needs all the fans it can get!
@@HODIUSDUDE If they keep giving us amazing spectacles and hard to drive cars like this, i won't be going anywhere in a hurry.
Another amazing Indy 500 and race, guys!
Have low expectations then.
Can you actually explain what’s so exciting about indycar? As an f1 fan I’ll never understand when every race is literally driving in a circle 200 times there’s no heavy braking for exciting overtakes , no interesting racing lines to require that require as much precision where skilled drivers can make up time by taking more risks and just no deviation at all ever. Would love to be enlightened but it just seem like the dullest race possible
@@Francadam well 1 thing you could like is not seeing as many gimmicks like in f1 or you know breaking the rules like what f1 did. i believe indycar only has like 1 or 2 things that would count as gimmicks and that's Push 2 Pass and Double Points but double points isn't every week just at certain races like the 500. another reason to at least respect indycar a lot is its history i don't gotta explain the history of the 500 everyone knows already but indycar itself has been around just as long as the 500 1909 and indycar's 1st race was in Portland as a Street race and well they still race at portland today but not a street race. here's a good video on indycar by SlapShoes. ua-cam.com/video/mt7MQD0cmks/v-deo.html
@@Francadam
1.) An oval is not a circle. Get rid off that weird thought. Also, ovals are about slipstream.
2.) The IndyCar series is not only racing on ovals. In fact, they're mostly racing on "normal" tracks as F1 fans would call it. They're racing e.g. on a street circuit this sunday
3.) Idk if you're into cycling but see ovals as mountain stages - they're requie a total different skillset. And in terms of skills, Indy drivers are the most diverse as they have to prepare for 3 kind of tracks: permanent circuits, street circuits and ovals.
Would have been amazing if Pato won here, on the same day as Checo winning Monaco but really happy for Ericcson, always there or thereabouts near the front and took advantage of others' mistakes / misfortune
now wait till glickenhaus wins Le Mans in 2 weeks 😆😆

Let’s goooooo Marcus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So goddamn exciting!!!!!!!
WHAT A RACEEE 🙌
Great race and congrats to Marcus! But I have to say, I'm not a fan of these red flags at the end of the race to try to manufacture an exciting finish. Glad Marcus didn't get robbed of his deserved win by that.
I thought it would have been fitting if his car had not re-started after the red flag. This seems to be the current direction the series is headed. With all the NASCAR fans tuned in for Jimmie, they are doing what they can to retain some after he is gone. I like Ericsson and it worked out in the end, but I'm with you, mixed feelings.
Better than finishing the last 5:laps under caution
Hey no matter what you think about it at least its not Abu Dhabi 2021 lol

It would be really nice to have an indycar history channel where all races would be uploaded in chronological order. Upload one race per week and you have great content for 2 years!
Check this channel's playlists, they have full races for the entire 2015-2019 seasons, they're working on 2020, and they'll occasionally put up a "classic" video.
