This 30-minute video is far easier to watch than the actual broadcast. The amount of commercials is completely unacceptable. It broke down to 59% race coverage to 41% commercials. It needs to be 70/30 minimum.

No, it needs to be 100/0. Having ads stop the race coverage would be unnaceptable in every country except the U.S. Just put ads on the barriers and next to the screen.

Unless you have Mercedes Benz level money and buy all the national and local advertisement spots, there's no way that will happen on Free NBC. Peacock, on the other hand, it complete trash. I know you can't do Side by Side when you turn it over to the local affiliates for local commercials, but on a streaming service with an ad-free tier, there's no excuse. You don't even side Side By Side watching it live. That is unacceptable.

It's horrible. It's beyond belief they'd purchase these rights and then literally ruin the race, ditto that IndyCar allows it. F1 forbids broadcast rights holders even one ad break during the race-which is how it should be-and trust me Sky etc. are making plenty of money from it. Racing isn't football or baseball etc with natural breaks for ads (which of course they make even longer to accommodate all the ads they stuff in.)

Great post, 30 minutes of emotional racing, some crashes that were messy but not injuring and the final struggle for the finish line. Until Newgarden did his thing and collected his first- I bet not his last- Indy 500 win over two extremely exciting laps. Props to the announcing team, their obvious passion and knowledge of the race takes an already thrilling race to another level. Superb execution from the race teams to the production team, kudos to you all.

Thanks. I think I saw more of the race in this recap than the 4 hours yesterday. For all the pushing of peacock, they don’t have side by side coverage unless you pay double. I figured paying double would mean literally no commercials like advertised. I get streaming is the way of the future but in this instance cable/satellite coverage on nbc would be far superior.

Watching IndyCar races live on Peacock is horrific. I understand that on Free TV there's only so much you can do before you have to turn over control to local affiliates for commercials (unless you have a sugar daddy like Mercedes Benz buying all the national and local advertising), but no side by side is the absolute worst thing to do. Peacock should have no commercials if you pay for the ad free tier. Period.

Marshall Pruett over on Racer interviewed a couple of race engineers about tire temps and pressures on the last restart and found they were nearly identical to the start of the Indy 500. While the "cold tire" criticism could hold water at a place like Iowa or Gateway, they had 2 miles to get their car ready. At that point, it's a driver issue and not a series issue.

NO, for Ericsson, the draft from behind him was WAY more advantegous after just one yellow flag without safety car directly from the pit, then it was for him when he was after Pato for 5 yellow flag laps before first restart and when he was behind Newgarden for the 2nd restart that was after at least 3 yellow flags, both of those restarts where behind the safety car, which it must be according to the rules! Penske gave Newgarden the win. Ericsson should have won it, he should be an indy500 back-to-back champion, but ofc americans and especially Penske fans couldn't stand that a swedish driver would have done that achievement! I don't think is fair to say that Ericsson was a chicken or sore loser, he had every right to complain that. They had exactly an Indy500 on hand and then the official thought that Abu Dhabi 2021 was the greatest race ever so they went on to finish under green with only 1 LAP to spare. If the role was switch, i would've guess Newgarden saying similar things. As for the best driver won, Ericsson prove he's the best driver of that race until that final red flag comes out, and remember the situation is similar to the ones last year. Last year he almost got "robbed", this year he did got "robbed".

@@homeperson11244 All of Ericcson's wins in IndyCar were the result of the red flag. Marshall Pruett is also reporting on Racer that he talked to several engineers that the tires were back to the same temp and pressures as the start of the Indy 500. If this was Iowa or Gateway, that would be a good point, but if you can't get your car squared away and ready after a 2 mile pace lap, that's a driver issue and not a series issue.
After all the above, it really comes out like sour grapes whine and cheese.

I wonder why Indy 500 interrupted many times in 200 laps, while Grand Prix De Monaco never wave a red flag during the race.😒😒😒 I love both these singleseater championchips (watch F1 since 1997 and supporting Ferrari) but I watch Indycar since 2018. Better F1 because is a global championchip than Indycar which is a clear United States championchip.😉😉😉😉

I counted fifteen different nationalities starting the Indy 500 this year. 15 different nationalities started the Monaco Grand Prix this year as well.

@@barnigranero5882 that does means nothing. Watch Grand Prix De Monaco and compare it with this year's Indy 500. How do you explane the interruption from lap 92 to lap to lap 156? And Ericsson lose unfairly, what do you think about passing a bit from the pit lane (turning from left) area in final laps?🤔🤔🤔
