Hi Ben! Love your videos. I applied for an L1A which was approved by the USCIS. I had the interview and that day the CO told me that the information was not on the PIMS system. At the end of the interview, they gave me a 221(g) white slip and the current status of the visa is "Administrative Processing" but the CO kept the original I-797 and my passport. They did not ask me for more documentation. In this case, out of the top of your mind, is there an avg waiting time? In this particular case, if you have had it in Argo, this is a good sign? That they kept the passport and I just need to wait to verify the information submitted on PIMS?
Hi sir, dv23 after my interview on the 31st of July ,the consular officer said he has gotten all what he need and then he return my original documents and passport,he said to me has to do some check and issued a blue paper with no documents requested and I was placed under 221g refusal.

I had interview on 28/07/2023 for b1 b2 visa at Johannesburg consulate. The consular took my passport and gave me 221g green paper but he didn't ask me anything he just say he will contact me until now they didn't even ask or requeste any document from me my question is why he didn't ask or check any of documents and how long is going to take for me to get response from them
If someone has a staff contact in the embassy, can he ask that person to remind the consulate officer to look at the case if it has been months into AP? Thankss

Recent visa interview for our e3 visa the office said I can approve yours and wife visa but you need to send us the updated medical records for your kids. And sent the updated medical records and the case went to AP process . Kinda confused.

Ben i and my twin sister went to the embassy on the 21st of March and we were given a pink paper that said we should provide some proof of relationship with our mum like calls logs, and pictures then our passports were included in the documents as well but since we sent them up till date we haven't received a ward from the embassy and our visa status still shoes refused. Please what can be the problem and what should we do because we have been waiting for like 3 months now.?
We waited 2.5 months in administrative processing, then the status on CEAC changed to Ready, for a a week or so and then Issued! FINALLY!

I couldn't find "Status" on the CEAC site, as you mentioned. It only says case location. Our 221(g) required us to send divorce doc for spouse petitioner following our IR1 interview. Which we did promptly. How long might we expect this to take?

Hi Ben, love your videos.....very informative. My wife and I just finished our interview in Montreal for a family sponsored Green Card (F31). We were given the form 221-G in white and VO told us no additional documentation is needed. On the 221-G, the VO checked the box saying "additional processing is required" and they kept our passports. We have a long history of residing in the US via E2 Visa status. What is your interpretation at this point?

As on April,13,2022.
I had my appointment in Tronto for B1B2.
So everything went good and officer took my passport and told me you are good to go.
But unfortunately i got email after 6-7 hour that your visa is refused under 221g.
And asked me to complete Department of State Supplemental Questions for Visa Application which i completed.
And i got my passpotr at my home without any visa stamp.
So my question is what i have to do next i have to wait for there reply or i have file some more documents.

Can someone give me some information on this: my K1 visa is pending, I went yesterday to my intervie, as part of the documents my fiancé had given me a copy of his divorce statement from back in 2012 and the office told me if I could get the original one which we got also yesterday after the interview and I delivered it to the appropriate facility for them to receive it, if he was so specific in just bringing that particular document does that mean once they get it , like I said, I already submitted it, will it be approved? Hi Ben, great video. However, for my case I was told that my tourist Visa was approved right after the interview and the officer even said “have fun in SF it’s a great place”. But when I collected my passport, I received the 221g notice while my colleagues all received their visa. I’ve emailed them the additional details that was asked like previous passport for the past 15 years and etc. is this a common thing where the visa was already approved but then goes into 221g?

Hi. I just watched this video, very informative. I got a 221G form after my EB5 interview last year during the lapse. I have reached out to the embassy since the reauthorization but no response yet. Sometimes feel like the EB5 applicants are treated like the step kids. We paid a lot of money that created jobs and helped the economy and yet we are not given the same time of day other visas are. I've been waiting 3 years for an interview. Had it on Wednesday last week, got a pink 221G letter...... don't have a clue why. My whole world exploded as my family and I walked out. So heartbroken. hello!! i recently attended a B1/B2 visa and got a 221g adminitrative processing. my interviewer asked me just two questions. one was my purpose of visit and my daily duties.
my purpose of travel was for a training and the training center sent my company just an invoice without an invitation or schedule.
so my answer to the first question was that i didn't have an invitation but just the invoice that was sent to my company. He then took like 30secs to explain to me that the invoice didn't represent the fact that the training center had accepted to train me or had invited me to the US to undergo the training.
To the second question, i stated my company, and elaborated on my daily duties.
What followed was that he left his post with my passport, the invoice and the travel request form from my company. when he returned he just filled out the 221g form and told me that they would contact me.
How would you access my sutuation?
Well ,during Interview....Our visa officer told us that they dont need further documentation from us .They just want to review our case.They asked us to send them Passports through courier after we receive an email from them.....But i don't know how long we have to wait for the email.....
And don't even know what to do during the waiting period .

Hi, My husband appeared for an interview of J1 visa (postdoc in Nuclear Engineering) at US Consulate, Frankfurt in January 22. He received 221G form but no proper information about the required documents was given. After writing to the consulate, he received an email specifying the required documents. He replied in the same thread providing all the documents. Surprisingly he received no auto generated response from the embassy side. Its been exactly one month after this and still no update. Yesterday he again send all the documents in a fresh email. My query is, did the consulate at all received the documents when he sent them as a reply email to the mail sent by the consulate? How long should we wait as it is already more than 4 weeks after he sent all the documents for the first time. I moved to USA 3 months back and every passing day is becoming harder. Any suggestion is appreciated.
You should contact the consulate and ask them if they've received your documents.
Well I emailed my documents again and again mean almost every single day and asked them that I am sending my documents daily because unfortunately I am not getting any acknowledgement as if have received my documents or not.
They replied and sent me an email that ur case is under administrative process and it will take 60-90 days.... Etc etc so it's been a week now and I am silent....

I had my interview and consular asked to wait in lobby and other consular asked to come in a room for more questions, after that they took my passport and exp certificate along with bank statement. Very next day i got an email to collect your passport i visited and pickup the passport when i checked all the pages i could not found anything. Hello how like my case i am applying fir C1/D visa or just transit , i get ds5535 and i went for interviewed only two question he ask when did your sign off and where you.goin to join so i answer it unfornately after interview he gave a paper again tick box is my case under administrative processing and he told that it will not take too long... and thats actually 2nd renewal , is theres any piece of advise as a seafarer thats our source of butter and bread..
The DS-5535 can take a long time, sometimes even more than 6 months

You would still need to report the arrest, even if it was dismissed or expunged.
The Officer approved my C1D visa but I recieved my passport after 6 days with the letter with 221 (g).

I had my k1 visa interview in Beirut on Aug 31st 2023.
I was given my passport back with a paper of refusal under administrative procedures, but there was no document missing , they didn’t ask me for anything, she even refused to see the proof I brought and said “ I have everything I need” .
We don’t understand why! No document missing and I answered all her questions honestly! Could it be because I’m Syrian and it’s just security check ?

If three years have passed, you case is not being processed. It's been forgotten. You need to contact the embassy immediately.

Hi Madam/Sir, my brother H1B visa status is refused and he attended in person interview. visa officer has asked generic questions and later handed over passport with white slip 221g and asked to respond the email with certain general questions. Hi. I have applied for C1D visa renewal in Azerbaijan Baku. I got my previous and first one Ukraine Kyiv last year. Was in administrative process. but it took only 2 weeks. Now this new application goes more than 2 month already. I have presented all the documents, my travel history, cv, my cover letters, appraisals from my employers, police clearance from all places i have been. I even did already 1 contract on board of cruise line. But it still pending administrative process and i can lose the job because of this. Can i apply again for the same type of visa at the same consulate just refresh their mind about my case?

I did my interview in the start of December 2021 and my visa was refused under 221 g. Additional information was asked which I provided on the same day of interview. Now its almost 9 x months and no update. My visa status was updated as refused on the day of interview since then no further update on visa status.

At the end of my immigration visa interview I was congratulated by visa officer who approved the visa application at window. He also gave a paper, in that again there was congratulation for visa approval....also guidance that how I can get my passport & visa in smooth manner.

My husband was given a 221g at the embassey in Lagos Nigeria stating that the following is needed to submit (1) Future visit, (2) Relationship statement and (3) ticket stubs. We inquired about the "future visit" and the "ticket stubs". My husband asked could they explain. The officer told him to give it to his wife that she would know what to do. HI!.... I applied for an F1 visa to go for my Master's as a third country national in Beijing , The officer asked for my study plan during my visa interview which i didn't have with me. After the interview, my passport was returned to me and i was given a green 221g slip requesting for my study plan and other documents. It has been 2 weeks since i submitted the required documents to the given email address but still no response. Any suggestions??

Received 221g for my recent interview for h1b visa,for the reason that my petition cannot be found in the system. consul did not require me for any other docs,told me to wait for them to contact me. They also took my passport and the slip for reciprocity fee. I am lost since the situation is kind of vague
That's normal. It takes time for their systems to update with your petition.

I interviewed on 3 March this month. I got 221g refused. I was emailed and asked to fill in the ds 5535 form. It is for h2b visa.
Visa officer kept my passport and ds160 confirmation page.

Hi Ben, As per the new USCIS interview waiver, I'm eligible for dropbox appointment and I dropped all my documents on April 6th at Hyderabad Consulate. After 10 business days my visa status on CEAC website was changed to administrative processing and then to refused. Soon later the same day I received and email from the consulate to attend for fingerprints verification on April 26th. At the time of interview the officer did not ask any questions or documents, just took my fingerprints and said "your visa is approved" and kept my passport. The same day the status on the CEAC website changed from refused to administrative processing. Till today(May 23rd - 18 days from the day of interview/verification) it is the same status. I contacted them through email and call but I got a standard answer to wait until the processing is complete. As they have my passport with them I'm patiently waiting for their response, but I'm just not getting how long can they hold my passport with them without any update? Also what could be the reason to take this long for processing even after being said visa is approved at the time of fingerprint verification. Please let me know any inputs would be helpful.

The reason I am asking this is to get insight into my son's F-1 visa where the status changed from "application received" to "refused" and wondering what happens next? I watched ur vedios regarding 221g processing because iam also falling into same case from past 2years.i had applied for C1D visa in the year of 2020.i had my Interview on 7feb 2020 and my case was held under 221g for Addmistrive Processing. All the way after waiting for 2years.i got an interview Appointment on 11th April 2022.i went for the interview after interview the consular office agin gave me the same slip with Addmistrive Processing held my passport and said we will Notifi u About ur case soon..but till now I didn't got any response from them..please tell me how long will it going take for my case....do I have to wait agin for years....sir...

Yes embassy asked additional documents 3 months after interview interview I was send on 28 March case updated 29,31,1,11,19,20 status still show refused ,my son passport VO saved but return back my daughter passport

I have a L1B approved petition and I received 221g in Visa interview. Asking for some additional documents, to be sent only on Email at consulates email address.
I am going on an Appointment Intra company transfer and would be working on Companies proprietary tools and technologies. During the interview VO asked me on client details. I replied it is a intra company transfer.
Additional documents which are requested are mostly on client details and end product market analysis. Most of this scenarios are not applicable in my case. How should we respond.
What is the chance of getting Visa in such case.

Ben, I need your help!! My fiance got a 221g for our K1 because they needed more chats from the beginning of our relationship. We have 6,000! So they expect us to print all pages and send them?! We're so confused. The officer was rushing him and didn't give him any chances to explain anything. She interrupted him when he'd try to explain further as you've suggested in your videos. She was drinking her coffee and licked the side of her cup as coffee ran down it. Very upsetting and very unprofessional. Our case will be 2 years in December. She also asked for marriage plans and when he told her, she disregarded everything😭😭😭😭

I am on a L1A visa. I am put in 221g. The officer told me to fill the form DS-5535. Can I send additional information to support my case(the officer asked about the company if it is old or new and she never told me to hand her the I797)? Or just send the DS-5535 only?
Just send the DS-5535. If they didn't ask for more information, that's all you should send in this situation.

I have got a refusal with 221g letter to submit additional documents after the interview for IR1 category ,and I submitted those it’s been more than three weeks. Really painful to be in this situation.I’m not really sure what needs to be done now. It’s more than 4 years i am missing my wife.In visa status it still shows refused.

Besides asking for consultation, all participants should have shed a light on Administrative Process step by step. What happenes after getting 221g? What visa officer check? Why it takes too long? What steps they take after compliance of 221g? Does only visa officer works on 221g or any other officer or staff also involved in the whole process?
These point still need to be clarified/explained for both NIV/IV. Only H1B visa topic was covered. No information about immigrant Visa.

Hello! the L-1A applicant's spouse and their common children applied to the embassy for an L-2 Visa - family members of the L-1A applicant. The I-797 notice has been approved by USCIS for main L-1holder earlier, the spouse and a child over 14 came to the Consul, the rest under 14 was told not necessarily. The consul's questions focused on how and when the principal L-1A applicant received his first L-A visa in other third Country, couple years earlier. At the end of the interview on the L-2 Visa for the spouse and eldest child of the L-1Aapplicant, the Consul said that "I don't see an approved L-1A petition in the system" and put L-2 Applicants into 221 (g) status. When L-2 applicants asked Consul "How long will it take?", the Consul replied "About a week". they then asked, "How Consul will contact?". to which the Consul replied that he would call the L-2 applicant's work phone number. Finally, the Consul gave a copy of the 221(g) waiver, which had a cross marked against the text "Additional Administrative Review Required. "For frequent appeals to the Consulate and appeals from the USA Congressman's office - there were a duty reply from US Consulate: -
"An administrative procedure is being considered, we will inform you." History: The first time an L-1Aapplicant received a multi-tour visa for a year in 2015 without problems ,stayed in the United States with repatriation for more than the period specified in the tourist visa, changed his status in USCIS to F-1 within 3years, returned to Motherland, and applied for an F-1 Visa at the American Embassy in the Motherland, which was denied twice in 2018. For the third time in 2020, due to the fact that the Embassy did not work in the Motherland based on COVID-19, after the USCIS approval notice L1A Visa Applicant applied from third foreign Country and obtained that Visa at another Country. In this regard, questions:
#1. Officially on the ceac.state.gov website - when checking the status of the DS-160 applicant for an L-2 Visa - it is indicated in bold -"REFUSED" - but further in smaller print it is written if the Consul told that the case was denied due to administrative procedures - you have to wait. - a) In this case, is it possible to apply to the embassy of another country and ask for the same Visa? - b) How successful will there be a chance that the Consul of another country will give a visa?#2. If the Consul who told the L-2 to the applicant that he does not see the approval notice in the PIMS (Petition Information Management Service) system, it is well known that the case is sent to the US State Department.- c) is it worth calling/emailing the US State Department and asking: to speed up, approve and return the case to the original Embassy for issuing a Visa? - d) is it worth calling / emailing USCIS and asking for their help, that they say the Consul at the embassy that petition really approved and it's updated in the PIMS system. And after all Consul finally see the approval notice and approve the Visa for L-2 applicant. Thank you,
