I dont know what racket he is using. But it looks as he is putting way too much effort for a medium speed ball. I mean the swing speed vs ball flight speed afterwards. As if the racket is too light or something. Not sure tho

Rublev's backhand is so underrated
now yes, but it used to be his weakness.
It seems to me that Andrey's feet are very still and rooted during the ball strike, whereas Carlos is more often on his toes/heels slightly raised. I don't know whether this is always the way they play or if they were trying out some variations. Carlos looks very fluid and has a Federer-like balance. Andrey's forehand racket head speed is astonishing. Excellent video of 2 top 10 players.
They’ve both been like this for a while. There isn’t one that’s better than the other. Arguably for less talented players less movement of the body during the ball will help timing but not show power or efficiency.

Love the ATP flip on the groundies. Carlitos has such a cool and efficient fearhand. Nice footage!
Efficient? What does it mean for a forehand? Usually we talk about power (pace), spin, consistency (error rate), and placement. Consistency is his weakness. He tends to errors (long balls) on his FH because to me his racket face at the ball contact is too vertical and sometimes it opens up a little bit especially when his body falls backward that makes the ball go too much upward. I think when they both hit the FH hard on the ball Rublev is more consistent.

@@tehatte Carlitos is at 8.69 for best forehands in 2023 at 2nd place just behind Novak at 9.1. The kid is still only 20 years old.
@@ToiletTennis At the start of the video when they are hitting slow you can see the racquet head go up, then down then up and through the ball. They still do it when they’re rallying fast but you have to slow it down to 0.5 speed to see it. That flip is why the pros can hit 90 mph forehands and the ball still lands in. It’s crazy but I’m trying to work the technique into my own amateur swing.
@@tehatte By efficient, I mean on take back and he has more shape on the ball to bring the ball up and down than Rublev who appears to hit a flatter ball. Rublev is consistent because he put in the reps to get that good hitting with less spin a la Jimmy Connors. When I’ve seen Carlos move backwards it’s to track the ball but he almost always ends up transfering his weight foreward into the upper body which is why he can produce spectacular defense to offense highlight reels. He’s also very strong which helps.
Does anyone have a quicker racket on the forehand than Rublev? That thing is a blur.
To analyze the strokes frame by frame, hit the pause button, then, use the comma "," and period "." keys on your keyboard to play the video frame by frame. Check how steady is Alcaraz's head during the stroke, how the non-dominant arm is raised and tucked against his body. Also the insane racket lag just before ball contact. Pure beauty!

Carlos’s forehand looks a little like Federer’s with the same straight arm swing. You can see the shape on the ball going over the net even with the pace.

As a player I would prefer having a grunt that represents force, power, like Andrey's, Sabalenka's, etc., not like Carlos' which are a defensive, struggling type.
Andrey picked a good grunt because such grunts make other players think, or can throw them off.
Carlos sometimes changes the grunt to a forceful one, but he should do them regularly.
Who's got the grandslams though😂
