Totally agree with you on the wheels. I got a set for my c10 and Deadbolt and they were such a pain in the ass to get right. In my opinion, you're better off getting a set of Machete rims (the rims from the Deadbolt) from axial, a set of Axial BFG Krawlers (the tires from the c10), tire glue, and the wheel weights for the Machete rims. They perform well, don't cost much more and are way easier to set up.
Sotero Murguia yeah they are a pain! I’ve actually gotten quite a bit better at mounting them since this video and have 4 sets of them now lol. They actually seem to mount up easier with the hex on the outside of the wheel. Flipping the wheel. I did this initially to get a wider stance with a deep dish look to the wheel. But it actually makes them easier to mount as well imo. Thanks for watching and commenting! Love the comments!
Heard the Hobby Plus parts for the CR18 are good upgrades for the SCX24. The oil filled shocks, 100T motor and wheels/tires. Don’t know if this is true. I’ve been messing with 1/10 scale since I was a kid but I decided to take the plunge and just got a Deadbolt today for my grandson and myself. Having a blast and inspired by your channel!
I just bought the Rok Loxs to I had a hard time mounting them as well took awhile but got them mounted onto my element Enduro24 Trail runner great video can wait to get one of these rigs
The RC4WD wheels are SSOOOOO AANNNOOOYYYIIINNNGGGG!!! I figured out how to get them lined up easily now though- Ill have to see your more recent videos to see if you got better ones! Btw, after cutting the fenders on my c10 it turns better with the rc4wd wheels and tires that it did stock! In fact that one mod probably made the truck TWICE as good of a crawler!
ThePreppersBunkerOutdoors yeah I’ve actually started mounting the hex on the truck. That way it stays still while mounting the tires. Works pretty well. They are still sometimes a bit tough but not near as bad as I initially thought, like in this video. I’ve since got some of the raceline beadlocks which have a million screws lol and some Rage wheels which aren’t too bad lol
I got the white stamped steel steel wheels took me one hour struggling so I quit took them to the hobby shop we’re he said it took him two hours for a set of four
No. I’ve actually made a how to on mounting them now. Much easier once you know a couple tricks. Check my vids. Should be one on mounting the rc4wd stamped steel beadlocks! Hope it helps!
Yea I put the Treal aluminum servo mount so if I need swap an emaxx out it's steering horn 2 screws and plug in and I'm back on the track for the money hard to beat..
I used a barrage motor on my sumo crawler gear reduction. Only needed to cut the shaft a tiny bit to fit it on. Way super powerful with the reduction kit on the barrage motor!
It would be nice to see some stock tires with some small holes drilled into the sidewall to see if that would soften the tire and make it flatten out to climb better
I know this is a year old but for what it's worth; the stock wheel/tire combo comes pre-drilled by factor ports at the center of each rim. I think there are two holes centered below the tire's tread.
I love these wheels and don't run foam. That's right. I set them up with only the air left inside; Love them. For aligning the bead, use some spit and slightly tug. It takes time but man, these wheels are essentially "tubeless" because of the things you dislike. So much grip without foam! Cheers.
Yeah they’ve also made them a bit easier to mount with the later releases. I ran mine the same way for a long time but really prefer foam and venting the tires now. The tires just seem to conform more and I got tired of the air sometimes seeping out when they get in a bind and getting deflated. Then you basically have to take them apart to get the air back. There are so many good wheel and tires options now it’s crazy! I remember when these were basically the only option!
@@2fmrc Good point! And, I know what you mean about the air seeping out. Mine seems to do it if I force the air with my fingers, but otherwise I haven't had issues. Thanks for the reply.
Also the rc4wd wheels aren’t as bad as I initially thought in this video. I swapped tires and the rc4wd good years mounted up much easier and I haven’t had a problem with them slipping the bead.
Jon yes. I love them so far. Haven’t used them on any wet surfaces but for my homemade course they are the way to go! They are just a tiny bit smaller than the stock tire but have way better traction. I also have a set of scramblers on my deadbolt that I’m working on stretching and doing 4 wheel steer on. They do well but are bigger and also get more roll on the sidewall than my wranglers. Probably because they are so much taller.
Some of mine I’m running the emax servo Mount by hot racing but several I’m just running stock mount that’s been trimmed. The hot racing stuff (like everything scx24) is hard to come by atm
I only found your channel about 2 weeks ago and I think I have watched most of your videos. But since your asking for an idea I have yet to see any one put the new furitek stinger setup in a stock scx24 particularly a dead bolt but the wrangler would be fine too. I really want to know if you can just drop one in a stock scx24. Thanks for all the great videos. I have made a lot of purchases already based on your videos.
