I put my C10 battery in the same place. And I added 21 grams of lead to the rear of the batter tray. It is an easy upgrade that works very well.
Great setup! Swap the no foam tires to the front. Front does the grabbing and climbing, while the rear does the pushing and do well with a little more tire pressure. I have my crawler tires as soft as possible.
Can you possibly tell me what brand wheels those are, I acquired a new set in a bundle I just bought and can’t figure out how to separate them to Mount the tires?
@@matthagen5021 What wheels do you mean?
Very impressive. I got one of these Jeep’s for Christmas. Only planning to do a few easy mods to it - add some brass diff covers, steering knuckles, etc. also order s9me pretty cool plastic rock sliders.
Cool stuff; I need to dig thru your channel to see what you’ve already posted. I’m also interested in building a small, light weight indoor climbing area for these small trucks. Thanks.
Awesome! Welcome to the scx24 life! They are some impressive little trucks for sure. Definitely dig through my channel. I have tons of videos on mods and upgrades and one of my oldest videos shows me building the first part of my indoor course! Thanks for checking out the channel and let me know if you need anything.
Nice rig setup. Love your crawler course too. On my Jeep I have both front & rear brass diff covers, & front brass wheel weights. Works great. Bought some rok lox tires, & although they are smaller than stock, they do work pretty good on the rocks. But, if I'm taking it in the woods, stock tires are better IMHO. 👍
Lance Robinson thanks! I have a couple sets of rok lox sitting that I haven’t used actually. Bought 2 sets before I realized how small they were 🤦🏻♂️ I’m planning to put a set on the enduro 24 eventually to see if it helps it out a bit maybe. They are just a bit small for most of my rigs but I love the look of them!
Hello Matt....I wanted to stop by once more and say thank you for such great videos....I have watched them all several times. I purchased the yellow Jeep and have done everything to it as you show here on your CRC with a few more goodies. I added the Hot Racing 13g diff cover front & rear and a Savox 0257 servo is on the way and will add the Hot Racing servo plate when I install the new servo. Also just ordered the supplies to build my own links with the Shapeways end ball caps. I set up a temporary bench top course using chopped up pieces of 2x4, 4x4 and other lumber of different lengths and went to crawling. It is very impressive the capability of this little rig. Having the front shocks laid back makes for some great articulation. The Patagonia tires hook up very well. I plan on widening it with the Hot Racing +4mm axles as soon as they are back in stock. This is an awesome little crawler. Time fore a little bling as well. Thanks again for the awesome advice and great videos. I check each day for something new.
I really appreciate it SOOO much!! I’m really glad to hear that the setup works well for you also. Never know if what performs well for me will work the same for others. I’m really glad that in your case it has! Do you have the bell clicked next to the subscribe button? That way it’ll alert you when I post a new video! Just a suggestion. Either way I’m REALLY glad you stopped in and updated me on your build! Good luck with the course being temporary. I feel like with winter coming on we will be building more and more to use these little beast on haha!
@@2fmrc Happy to give a shout out where deserved! Just clicked on the bell for updates, Thanks. Ya, I hear you about, " Good Luck keeping the course temporary ". Already brain storming about doing something like you did with foam to keep light and portable, but thinking about using a light sand mortar for more grip to bind, smooth out and cover. Not sure how much weight it will add, still in the brainstorming and research phase.
Wow that little thing kicks ass man Good job
Dude sick crawling, my buddy has the same jeep and did some of the same mods but not all of them and he isn’t happy how limited it is, after seeing what yours can do he’s going to be happy that it can do way more and not cost a fortune and have to change everything. Great course also we also made a few indoor courses of our own, cool what a few cans of spray foam and some cardboard and scraps of wood and sheet rock can make. Keep up the sick crawling vids love watching them.
Just relocate the battery and get the same shocks and your buddys truck will do the same.
Mine does most of this with the stock tires and wheels.
Just bought this truck! Can’t wait to modify it definitely a cool project! I’ll have to buy stuff later down the road so it’ll be stock for a bit
Nice! There are several things you can do to a stock truck to help it out without paying for upgrades so just enjoy it! They are a lot of fun stock or modded
@@2fmrc what are the mods to improve it?
Looking to mod my C10 now after watching this. Great video.
RC Action heck yeah!
That’s my scx24, I got a body for it and it’s been a work in progress. I’m putting in the interior and just trying to figure out something that looks nice and flush. Cool vid.
I stood in the hobby shop with a Jeep & C10 and the C10 won . I'll get the Jeep in a couple weeks .
Yeah it’s just too hard to choose lol
love those tires and wheels, I also run patagonias in my Yukon and they climb and grip better than anything ive ever used.
They really work on this Jeep I know that lol. I’m wanting to try some of the 1.9s on my 1/10 truck eventually because they seem to work so well.
Nice video with your little crawlers. Great idea with the indoor track made of construction foam :)
World Control RC thanks! Yeah the course is a blast and I’m able to hit it basically any time I have a free minute vs loading up and going to a spot somewhere. So it definitely helps with test and tune!
Would love to see the C10 video soon. Good videos and keep up the good work.
sit los I’ll have to get to work on it!
I took the sticker off the motor, runs cooler
I’ve seen a lot of people say that! I stuck a small heat sink off a raspberry pi on one of mine and it helped. You can also just stick a small magnet to them and it helps dissipate some of the heat! My Jeep motor died recently but I have a barrage waiting for it. Just gotta find the time to swap it out
Enjoyed you custom job !
That jeep is the one I have my eye on. Glad you showed the set up.
It crawls much better than I expected honestly! I didn’t buy it first because I was afraid it may not be as capable but it does really well with a little work.
@@2fmrc yea, I have no idea what tires and mods I should get at first. I just like the jeep realistic body. Looks like you could drop several hundred dollars quickly on one.
@@brianonthego oh yeah! It happens quick lol
Thanks, your videos really have a lot of helpful information
Fpv Pilot thanks so much! Glad to hear that they may have helped someone. Thanks for watching!
No doubt it's a solid build based on a proven truck. I can't help but wonder how much your skill came into play. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Hey man. I am so happy to have your content! You have helped me with so many things but I have 1 question. If I did the same exact mods to a c10 would it perform almost exactly the same and as well as your build?
Yes
The real difference his truck has that others dont. Is the battery placement and the shocks.
Everything else can be stock besides tires and wheel weights and youll get the same effect
Your SCX24 builds are awesome. Do you sell these as completed builds by chance? Looking for something with magnetic body, upgraded motor/esc, wheels/tires, steering servo, and maybe some suspension/weight mods.
I really appreciate that! I normally just build them for myself but if I keep coming up with more build ideas I may have to start selling them became I’m getting WAY too many now lol
@@2fmrc Thanks for the reply. I guess i could do most of the mods myself. These look like amazing little machines! Appreciate your content!
@@sullyFL you can definitely do most of the mods on your own. Especially the bolt on stuff that helps performance quite a bit!
How is your suspension set up? I’ve ordered some 43mm treal shocks that I was considering removing the springs completely
I really dig the wheels and tires but I’m a really big fan of the look of those Thornbird tires would they have any problem fitting on one of these
No they would fit just fine. May be a tiny bit small but they would work well I’m sure. Especially if you lowered the truck a tiny bit
I’m between the deadbolt and the Jeep. Lots of people saying the deadbolt is better out of the box, but I don’t plan on keeping mine stock. I also prefer the look of the Jeep. Just wondering if the deadbolt is better if you plan to mod, or the differences are negligible once you start modding either of them. Which of them would you prefer?
I usually tell people to buy the one you like the look of most. They are almost identical (besides wheelbase) so once you start modding you can make any of them very capable. My Jeep is every bit as capable as most deadbolts. The only issue with the Jeep is you get a little body rub with bigger tires where you wouldn’t with the deadbolt but you can always trim a bit if needed. I’d say go Jeep if that’s what you like. Out of the box.... yes the deadbolt will be more capable (less weight up high due to the body) but with a little work the Jeep will do just as well imo. Hope this helps!
I didn't like the jeep either but they don't have too many nice bodies for it yet. Only reason why I went for the jeep is cuz it has bigger tires for better ground clearance.
3:10 - Would be possible to specify why you do certain upgrades or mods? When I make changes to my rc I also try to understand what I do and how would that improve the climbing, etc... :)
Thanks for the video!
Nice video, I just purchased the jeep after watching yours. I really like the bent rear links you made. Any reason you have not put a set on the Jeep?
Chris P
Really just haven’t had time. It does pretty well without them so it’s down the list a bit lol. Congrats on the Jeep! I’m sure you’ll love it.
That’s pretty close to how my Jeep is set up also. It climbs nice. I have a brass diff on the back but not the front.
Jeep broke I’m thinking I may put one on the rear myself. Give it a bit of weight in the rear. That’s really all it needs at this point. Thanks for watching!
Nice jeep.
Thanks! Don’t have it together anymore but it was pretty solid for sure.
like the the red body crawler
Cool truck! Is there anyway to get rid of the high pitch noise while running? Want to get this for my son but that sound that might drive me nuts.
Thanks! Not really. There are a couple different motor and esc options but most of them still make some sort of noise. It’s not as bad in person honestly. My camera sort of amplifies everything lol
awesome stuff sir
I just put 4 wheel steering on my buddy's deadbolt and my c10
Timothy Green gotta love the 4ws! Mine almost feels like cheating so much that I rarely use it cause no1 else I run with has it lol
Hi, on my SCX24 Rubicon (stock) has a really crappy turning radius compared to my SCX24 C10. Have u noticed that ,or is it just my jeep?
Dude you have a lot of droop on the the front of that truck, it looks more than mine with kms shocks on. Did you replace the drive shaft spline for the longer one to stop it popping out at full droop? Did you ever find the replacement stock pinion gear on its own?
Love watching your vids , awesome job ,, bit i was wondering if you have part #s for the rim and tires , and are you running wheel spacers ? Love the wide stance look . Thanks
Nice video.
Which one is good between jeep and cx10 stock?
Truant786 Truant thank you! I think the Jeep does a little better stock imo but with a little work they are all very capable. My C10 will go pretty much anywhere now.
Wonder if my modded Jeep could make those lines.
Just installed the CR24’s on my Jeep. I feel like my springs are a little stiff for it. Did you mod the springs or do anything to break them in? I don’t have any weight added to my Jeep yet, wondering if that would help too. She flips a lot easier on me.
I think the extra weight would help
What tires are you running on that little beast
Those are the rc4wd Patagonia’s. Awesome tire! Perfect fit for the Jeep imo
@@2fmrc perfect thanks
Very good trophy 🔥+sb
Eugene RC Drezgalovo thanks!
How did you attach that front bumper so cleanly ? Even with the tightest setting, it still sits pretty far ahead of the body on mine.
Are you using the hot racing bumper mount for it or the stock bumper mount? I cut a stock bumper mount and use it with that. Maybe it’s a bit different with the hot racing mount? Idk?
Where did you get the wheels on the jeep from?
Those are the rc4wd raceline 1.0 wheels

Man I really want a new set of those kinetic double barrel shocks
Yeah I really want another set 😂. Not sure when they’ll be back in stock! I think they are pretty busy. Haven’t heard back from them since messaging about them a day or so after the vid went up.
@@2fmrc I just ordered a set of the hobby plus shocks I’ll run those for a little bit until I can get a set of the. Double barrels and then I’ll put those on my dad’s C 10. I wish they would do some kind of back order or pre-order I would happily pay for them and just wait
@@2fmrc Hey man by the way am I correct in that the C 10 and the jeep both use the long suspension links I think I may have to make my own I don’t know if they’re ever going to get them back in stock
@@LargeeeScaleLife that would be nice! The hobby plus are good shocks also. I’ve gotta get my Jeep back together. The motor went so I pulled the front axle setup to put rear steer on the dig rig cause they were hard to come by at the time lol. Now my Jeep is sitting with no front beef and a blown motor!
I am disabled I only have the use of my left hand so I'm trying to decide if I can even get into doing this with the control and stuff but my question is since I'm such an idiot about all this still what is that squealing noise the high-pitched buzzing noise when you guys are driving these
That's just what the motor and servo sounds like when u give it minimal throttle and steering
And u should be able to drive one handed, thumb on the steering, trigger finger on the throttle
How do the hobbypro shocks compare to like a kinetic double barrel setup?
I have the same jeep and just purchased those raceline wheels. I'm having a issue with the little tool that comes with the wheels slipping on the beadlock bolts out of the package. Any help would be appreciated, maybe a video on those beadlocks like you did with the stamps steal wheels.
Yeah that tool is garbage. I found a screw that the head of fit the screws on the wheel and epoxied it into a small tech deck tool my kids had. Now i have a small tool that works great on them.
@@2fmrc thanks for the reply. Kind of crazy how almost $100 on wheels and tires and it comes with a 2 cent tool that doesn't work in my case lol.. I'm going to see if the Hobbie shop i bought everything at will put the tires on fore me.. keep up the good scx24 videos
@@The96civicrider not just your tool that didnt work. Mine stripped on the 2nd screw and so has many others! Crazy!
@@2fmrc good idea on the screw that fits the beadlock bolts.. I have to try that.. thanks again
Will the Patagonia tires fit with the RC4WD 1/18 Gelande II Stamped Steel 1.0'' Stock Beadlock Wheels
Yep! They sell that same wheel for the scx24. As long as it’s 1.0 you should be good. I have several sets of those stamped steel beadlocks for my scx24s. Just make sure the Patagonia’s are 1.0 also.
Greetings...a quick question. It appears that if I want to install the Hot Racing front bumper, like you have here, I will also need the Hot Racing bracket that attaches to the frame rails accepting the two posts coming off the bumper? Thank You!
You can actually use the stock one if you want. I’m running stock bracket on my Jeep. I do have the aluminum bracket or mount on my Yota with the HR bumper but it mounts up fine to the stock setup.
@@2fmrc Thanks...it appears there are different front bumper set ups...It appears the Jeep CRC and the Dead Bolt have the bracket that would work with the Hot Racing front bumper. I have the yellow Jeep and there is no bracket. The tabs on the bumper slide into the C-Channel frame with a screw each side.
@@skipmiller8309 hmmm that’s odd!
@@2fmrc I downloaded all three manuals for the JLU Jeep, Deadbolt & C10 Truck and none of them have the bracket that attached to the frame and then the bumper attaches to the bracket. Older models, wrong manuals...it's a mystery...LOL...Thanks again for you time and knowledge...can't wait to see the with the dig, thornbird tires and rock bouncer cage build!!
Do you have links for where you got all your upgrades? I just bought one of these for my daughter and I to play around with and I already want to start modding it.
Honestly I get most of my stuff from eBay. I usually look and see who can get it to me the quickest lol. There are several that I know ship really fast now so I go with those usually. I can try to find links for the stuff but it may or may not be there honestly.
How big is your course? I’m going to guess 4x8 wish I had room for one that size.
I haven’t actually measured but I would guess around the same. I’m hoping to build a new one this winter!
Where did you get the Patagonia tires. I run the same tire on my daily driver I’m very pleased with them
You should get an element enduro 24
Had one. Sold that thing! I hated it lol
My esc stopped working. What would you go for ? Replacement or upgrade to what ?
Ukmudlover depends really. Do you have another rx/tx you could use with a different esc? The esc and receiver are all in one on these. I would definitely recommend the castle micro sidewinder esc IF money isn’t a huge issue or you have another transmitter and receiver to use with it. It can be ran with the stock motor with a couple bullet connectors soldered to stock motor or run brushless later on. I run it with the Holmes revolver and LOVE the control it has. I ran with the stock motor before the Holmes and it worked amazing as well.
If you plan to ever go 4 wheel steer then I’d go castle esc with a fsgt5 rx/tx. That’s what I did when I went aws
@@2fmrc I didn't even contemplate rear wheel steering until I seen your's. It's a good option. I've got a few rc's about but the radio gear is a few years old.
I'll have to get new and yeah money is a bit of an issue at the moment. Loosing my job before all this but I had the axial through lock down and it's give me the rc bug haha. Been away from rc for a few years. I got the la traxx tatton a few years back to drift and jump but it's fragile ish , didn't have a clue what to replace the esc with. Had the savage x 4.5 back in the day and a few others. Expensive times haha
Just had a look at the sidewinder that's affordable
What a good cheap remote. I'll price them up. It's what to look for
those shock mount positions aren't something i've seen yet.. jesus... I been trying to balance out my JLU model since I bought it. looks like this runs great! just burned out my stock motor with the extra weights, waiting for restock for the barrage motors.
I actually just smoked the motor in my Jeep. Need to swap it out soon. Yeah the shock position is odd but it definitely works for my setup!
@@2fmrc i wonder if you can fab up shock towers that poke through the hood. i dont have one.. yet. if only they made a tj/lj version.
@@suchgr8hieghts oh yeah you could definitely make a mount like that!
Did you use one of the screws from the stock shocks to mount those to the body? I couldn’t get the ball to sit in perfectly enough to hold the shock.
Ignore this lol didn’t hear the part till I rewinded it
@@JayNote27 lol hope it helped!
@@2fmrc I mounted my crs in the same position you have them at hut raise the front up just a bit and man it made a huge difference. I have mud slingers on my jeep and before doing it like you I could not climb anything lol
@@JayNote27 makes a huge difference huh? I move all of mine! Some people give me grief over moving them. I can’t stand to not lol
My motor died. Is there a good replacement?
Barrage motor for simple replacement or the surpass 2204 brushless setup is best if you wanna get into a little work to install. I have vids installing both.
What battery is that does it run longer than stock battery
What shocks you using? A link to them would be great.
Doom Racing they are the hobbyplus cr24 aluminum shocks. Not sure I can find a link. They are a bit hard to come by. eBay is the best bet right now
I've been looking for steering linkage like that, any ideas where to find and part number?
The hot racing aluminum steering links have been out of stock for at least a month now. It’s pretty aggravating. Their are some plastic upgrades ones on shapeways.com that you could try. I have them on one of mine and they work much better than the stocks. I prefer the aluminum but you never know when they’ll be available!
www.shapeways.com/product/PPSMM5WJ7/scx24-improved-steering-linkage-set
If you put little o rings in the stock steering links where there is slop it tightens it up to perfection! Been super happy with mine . even with a beast servo it remains tight as could be
@@EQ541 yep we did that on my father in laws and it’s worked well! I just love the look of the hot racing aluminum links honestly. I just ordered a set of the new treal steering links as well! Can’t wait to check them out!

They way people butcher these things is hilarious.
And make it 10 times more capable? Yeah I’ll take that butcher job 🤦🏻♂️
@@2fmrc yeah you’re right. I guess axial hired the wrong engineers to figure all this stuff out.
@@247wingmaster9 It’s not that. It’s whatever is most cost effective for them. If they wanted to make it the best it could be they would put some good tires on it straight away wouldn’t they? Same difference. They do what they have to do to make a sale. That’s all they care about. Engineers aren’t always the answer either. I deal with plenty of them that are freakin morons daily so imo they’d be better off having someone who has been into 1:1 crawlers or even rc crawlers their entire life (not me,just saying) instead of a new engineer fresh out of school willing to work for the first person to offer them 100k a yr 😆. These engineers have become a dime a dozen in our field anymore so I’m sure it’s the same in others. The people who know the job from past experience are what keeps the place running at its best. Same goes for this hobby. Just because someone has a degree don’t make them any better than anyone else and it definitely don’t mean they know more about the field they are in. They know how to run some #s and what SHOULD work but that’s not always the answer in the real world. If the thing works better for me after I make a few mods then how is that not proof I made it better for me? I don’t care what works for someone else. If these engineers are so incredible why wouldn’t they add weight down low or put decent tires on it etc? Or put some springs on it that don’t make the truck bounce around like a freakin bobble head?
Lol wtf he takes his a frames off
