What not to buy and why, safety, price to pay etc. I was looking at a ocean drifter for sale in Millbrook.
@CornishKayakAngler Really enjoyed watching your videos as I’m looking to start kayak fishing. I saw your videos of the bixpy motor on your Hobie kayak. How do you think it would perform on this vibe sea ghost?
Thanks Graham and welcome to the world of kayak fishing! The Bixpy should work pretty well on the Sea Ghost. Bixpy sell a Universal Rudder Adaptor so it’s super easy to install on this kayak. Steer the motor with your feet as you would the rudder. Gives you the option to paddle at the same time too. Would be cool to try it out sometime. If I get a chance I will get a video together for it!
Hey there @CornishKayakAngler, hopefully you can answer my question. I purchased a lowrance hook2 4x that uses the Bullet transducer. Did yours come with the mount, or did you have to purchase that serperately? My box did not seem to come with a mount. Thanks.
Yes the Hook2 4x should come with a standard base mount in the box. The one in this video is an aftermarket mount so that the fish finder can be mounted on the slide tracks on this kayak. If yours didn’t come with the standard mounting bracket maybe ask the retailer you purchased it from or contact Lowrance directly. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the info-filled videos ( I just watched yr Sea Ghost 110 Video / review . I just got a used one from a guy who worked at Vibe . I just needed to see how the seat installed & how to use all it's features . Would you happen to know of a good priced / quality "360 o " white light to mount on my 110 ? & Where to best mount it ? also will this Kayak work well in shallow water like larger creeks & shallow spots on rivers ? Thanks ..Davey from N GA USA
Hi David, sorry for the late reply! Have you had a look at the Railblaza i360 all-round white navigation light? These are very good for kayaks and can be mounted on a pole. Railblaza sell a Visibility Kit II which includes the light, pole, flag and base mount. You could use their TracLoader StarPort to mount off the tracks at the back of the SG110. Hope this helps!
In terms of features then yes the Sea Ghost is better outfitted. But the Ultra 4.3 paddles better and is more seaworthy so depends if you need that extra bit of performance over the luxury of extra features.
No other reason than I didn’t have any of the rings to hand at the time if rigging this kayak! They are easy enough to add at a later date to any anchor trolley system.
On flat water, there’s not too much between them. The SG130 will just edge it. Whilst the Tarpon 120 is a foot shorter, it’s also a touch narrower with less volume so cuts through the water a little easier than the higher volume SG130. But the SG130 has the longer waterline length so once up to speed (which may take a little more effort than in a T120), it will have the higher cruising speed, but we aren’t talking a massive difference.

Would you say the 130 sea ghost is a better yak then say the ocean prowler 4.3 ultra . Cheers

Why did you decide to drop the 30mm stainless rings on this anchor set up m8 .
