    Nice video 👍
    I just bought one yesterday in the same colour.
    I paid a little extra and got the centre hatch moved to the front area of the kayak and installed a rectangular hatch in the centre between your legs.

      Nice! Yeah the Rectangular Hatch upgrade is a must and makes a big difference! 🎣

      Hopefully it will help those make the decision whether to buy or not! I know when I’m buying something pricey I like to know all the nitty gritty details before purchasing! 😎

    Those little rectangle dips on the front right and left can you fit a railblaza mount on those?

    • @CornishKayakAngler
      @CornishKayakAngler  2 роки тому

      Nah they are for the mounting points on the Hobie H-Bar system. Plenty of flat space around them to add other mounts though

    Just a small comment regarding the rudder, it is able to be deployed while on the water using a flick of the paddle. So you can head off with the rudder still stowed.

      You could do this but it’s a bit tricky - I guess it would be easier with practice! It would be much easier to get the kayak into shallow water and deploy the rudder before jumping in and setting off.

    Hi Liam, great video! I currently have an ocean kayak trident 13 and will be swapping it for a pedal one next year.....the passport seems to be a good option! My only question is regarding the rudder not having a control system to lower and bring it up! Aside from the obvious mistake of not remembering to lower it before heading out (bound to happen to most of us), wouldn't the rudder risk being damaged by rocks or the ramp access when heading back to shore? Cheer!

      It is a kick up rudder, you can even land when it is deployed, it will kick up should you hit something. And you can easily deploy the rudder on the water using the paddle.

      Thanks Pedro! As Peter has mentioned above, the rudder just kicks up out the way should you forget to flick it up before dragging it up onto the beach / slipway etc. A bit of a nuisance if you forget to deploy it but you usually notice pretty soon after jumping in the kayak so you could either quickly return to shore to deploy or nudge it into the water with the paddle!

      Seen people use the paddle to push rudder down. Cheers

    Does this kayak come with the bits to fit a fishfinder? Or do you need to buy a kit?

    • @CornishKayakAngler
      @CornishKayakAngler  2 роки тому +1

      You would need to buy the Hobie Passport 12.0 Fish Finder Fit Kit - this includes the Thru Hull cable seals to run the wiring through the hull and the Transducer Fittings to attach a Lowrance transducer to the transducer cover plate beneath the kayak. I show this kit in the following video: ua-cam.com/video/eCuIaK0uHn8/v-deo.html

    Great stuff. The kayak I have doesn't have the foot pedals. can I add that to my kayak or can you not adapt kayaks to become a peddle kayak?

    • @CornishKayakAngler
      @CornishKayakAngler  3 роки тому +1

      You can’t really retrofit pedal drives to a non-pedal kayak. Pedal kayaks are moulded with a drive well specifically to take the drive. You’d need to invest in a pedal kayak if you wanted pedal drive. Perhaps the next upgrade! 😀

    Ocean worthy??

      All depending on the conditions. It’s not going to be great for regular surf launches but if you have a fairly easy launch onto open ocean / coastal waters then it fine for calm to moderate conditions, so those days when the wind is less than 15mph and gentle swells. If it gets a bit choppy then it will still handle it fine, there is a lot of volume in the bow so it tends to bob up and over short choppy waves rather than punch through them. So it does get slowed down a touch in such conditions but creates a slightly drier ride vs a kayak that is fast and punches through.
