Great comparison. Watching from a new 11” M2 iPad Pro that I got today at an official reseller in my country for a little over $100 over an 11” M2 iPad Air. I did think that the better screen, the extra 2 speakers, the Thunderbolt USB-3 conector, and the compatibility with my existing accesories (Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil) made it worth… and I’m super happy about that choice.

Buy the M2 Pro. The Air's 60Hz screen stutters horribly, and the difference in speaker quality between the Pro and the Air is overwhelming (the Pro 11 is better than the Air 13). Touch ID is very inconvenient on a large tablet, but with the Pro, you get Face ID that works from four directions. Additionally, the M2 Air has one fewer GPU core compared to the M2 Pro (Air: 9 cores, Pro: 10 cores), and the Pro supports Thunderbolt and USB4. The rear flash and LiDAR scanner are exclusive to the Pro. The Air's display bezel is thicker than the Pro's, and the device itself is unnecessarily thicker. Even accessories like the Magic Keyboard do not fit perfectly with the Air. Also, the Air does not support front-facing portrait photos. There is a significant difference in microphone quality as well (the Pro comes with studio-quality microphones). Just buy the Pro. The differences are too great. The only thing the Air does better is running the Apple Pencil Pro on its dreadful 60Hz fixed screen.
Oh, and the Pro also comes with a dual-camera setup that includes an ultra-wide camera. Additionally, despite having the same M2 chip, the Air lacks the ProRes encoding and decoding engine. And the Pro's display is 100 nits brighter.

here 11" m2 pro is at the same price as 11" m2 air.
I think the lack of pencil pro isnt a big deal! and cheaper accessories is GOOD!
also that 120hz with the same chip, and a mini led screen thats more vibrant.

I bought the 13” Air, as I get older need bigger display, my wife went 11” air. iPad os is a bigger limitation, than M2 versus M4. Couldn’t be happier.

I had been going back and fourth with this exact issue and I went with the m2 Pro because of the screen, speakers and pro motion. I upgraded from a gen 8 ipad. I generally want to get the newest available ipad when I upgrade, but the m4 is out of my budget and between the new air and m2 pro (It was on sale and I got an openbox so it was less $ than the new air) I felt like that was the better decision. I hope I made the right one because I wont be upgrading again for a long time lol 😅

I bought iPad pro M2 in dec 2022 and in April 2024 almost 1.5 yr , my iPad is not able to verify update n I'm stuck at 17.2
Since the warranty period of one yr is passed there is no support from apple unfortunately

Good debate. I gotta add that Apple intentionally downgraded ipad m2 air with 9 core GPU. Why? Idk but not cool by them. Since they both have m2, im hoping iPad pro m2 has 2 more years of OS support since iPad air m2 just came out.
Yeah it’s always dumb when they do crap like that. Thankfully nothing really saturates the chip so I don’t think people will really notice a difference

For an actual artist the new pencil is freaking awesome so you may want to go for the upgrade honestly

I feel like I could live without the new features of the pencil pro. Ill also be using it with an external monitor and stage manager so I’m sure that thunderbolt will come in handy too

I bought the 2024 iPad 11”, 2022 iPad Pro 12.9”, and the 2024 iPad Air 13”. I ended up with the 2022 12.9” iPad Pro.
11in was to small for my note taking needs.
iPad Air was great but at the time I was getting annoyed with the god damn “pencil pro” thinking I’m squeezing it but I’m not. So for a $100 more I could get an iPad Pro 12.9 at the time best decision I made.
Dude I’ve had so many problems with the squeeze function on the new Apple Pencil lol it’s mad annoying

Please tell me the difference of the sound quality between M2 iPad Air 13 inch versus M4 iPad Pro 11 inch
They all sound pretty much the same
I got a brand new iPad Pro M2. It cost me £100 ($130). Absolute no brainier for the better screen, better pencil experience, Face ID which saves me from having to continuously touch the button especially for filling in passwords etc. the position of the camera is the only downside but I’ve found a way to mitigate that. Very happy with my purchase

I just bought the M2 iPad Pro, lucky enough to find a new one for $150 more than an iPad Air. I love the ProMotion but what tipped the scales for me is my Apple Pencil (2nd Gen) wouldn't work on the new Air, I'd have to buy a new one, ain't nobody got time for that!

@@dark_overcast hi! Ik the question was directed at the author of the video but I hope my feedback helps! I have a 2018 ipad pro in 12.9 inches and will be upgrading to a 2024 ipad air in 11 inches and I'm also a student.
If you have a laptop, go with the 11 inches. If you don't have a laptop and you want to type things and use the ipad kinda like a laptop, get the 13 inches.
If you don't want to type things a lot with a keyboard and are looking to use mainly for handwriting like you would use a notebook, i recommend 11 inches because it's so much lighter while the size of the screen is still large enough to not feel restrained (similar to a B5 notebook). The 11 inch can also fit into more bags and if you have to take notes standing up it won't hurt your wrist as much as the bigger model. The 13 inch one is still heavier and I'm going to upgrade to the 11 inch version mainly for this reason. Its more compact but doesn't compromise the freedom to write

@@RajeshSarkar-ps4vlhi! If the notes you want to take are mostly typed with a keyboard and also if you type for long periods of time, then go 13 inch because the bigger keyboard is way more comfy. If not then it depends if you want a more.lightweight device with a slightly smaller screen (although in my opinion it's good enough for college notes, it resembles a b5 notebook from muji to me which actually is really nice for those awkward lecture hall chairs with the little table attached) or a heavier device but with a screen that is more the size of a a4 notebook.
Also if you want to keep a handful of games downloaded but have a cloud storage or external drive for the school things and stream media online mostly I think 128gb is plenty.
If you plan on keeping every single file inside the ipad storage itself and want to frequently download netflix content for offline streaming and have more games and overall more downloaded apps and media then I'd go with the 256gb but the downloading of games and movies and series would be the defining factor here. If yes - 256; if not - 128
I'm not saying you cant download media for offline use with the 128gb, you just have to be more mindful and keep your storage tidy and clean from clutter 💕

Apple Intelligence sounds interesting (would love to get your thoughts on that in a video)…but iPad OS 18 looked super meh. They’re still not showing the iPad as much love on the software side as they are the hardware side. I think that makes pretty much all the higher end iPads overkill for 99% of users.
Yeah man I was severely disappointed with iPadOS 18, they could have done so much more. Another similarity is (as he mentioned in the video) the price. The 11” M2 iPad Pro had the exact same price as the 13’ M2 iPad Air. If your budget is $799, you have those two options: Small Pro? Big Air? I think it's a good comparison.
I’m actually really thankful for these vids because some people are on a budget and do not have the capacity to buy the most premiere device up to date. Choosing from the less premiere devices, they have different kinds of compromise. At least you get to choose which one works best for your lifestyle, ig.

Probably the 13 inch iPad Air. If you’re a lawyer you have lots of typing to do and that is way more comfortable on the 13 than the 11

Unfortunately it doesn’t so you’re right that could be a major deal breaker for artists.
Professional artists been using the Apple Pencil 2 and create just fine. You adapt to your tools. What matters is the work.

I think the m1 or m2 iPad Pro are great buys for someone who wants a sudo laptop replacement. Otherwise if you’re looking for content consumption I’d say the iPad mini.
