worth considering the difference in your reactions between the two…if you find yourself hating one side and smiling for the other means you may be contributing to the sentiments expressed in the song.

Joyner is mid af. This song isn’t helpful at all. This white guy is clearly racist af and the message is meet in the middle? Listen to their thoughts too? Their racist why would we listen? You don’t get freedom from letting your oppressors deciding what’s best for us, cause they’ll never give up the power they have. This is a centrist song for people that think we just need to come together and everything is fixed.

The sad part about this video is that they didn't complain about the 2nd half. The song was meant to show a stereotype of hating blacks and then a stereotype of hating whites. They caught the first half just fine, but then they stopped. What these two did was cheer on the 2nd part instead of recognizing it as racism against whites.
    It makes me sad.

It's funny, isn't it. In a way, I feel like that's a big part of what Joyner is actually trying to portray in this video. Both white and black people at times and in different circles view each other in some pretty nasty ways, but until we come together and get over these preconceived notions of one another the hate on both sides will continue to fester.

Yeah its a problem. A problem which i though the song did an excellent job of highlighting but obviously the people reacting to the song missed (the older guy more than the younger one as he tried to speak his mind but you could tell he didn't want to disappoint the older guy by having a different opinion). The older guy reacting to this song is everything wrong with racial relations in America. This guy is bias and hell and the typical black victim card player.

I mean, fuck trying to add to a discussion and maybe have a conversation, god forbid you may learn or hear something new or interesting. Or even worse, imagine someone hearing you speak on your own lived and learned experiences and them having the chance to maybe have their eyes opened to something they were ignorant of or learning something of substance from you. Fuck all that huh, just comment a throw away "blame the whites" line and move on since u may get a like or two. I know it sounds like im being a prick, but I've heard and seen that same line, maybe worded different or even the same, so many times that i immediately brush past and and regretfully judge the person who left it, when i would really love to actually have a conversation with you and learn something from you. I'd bet, that just as ive lived a life that is pretty original and worked all over the country and met all types so as that I know I could tell you some stories that would at the very least entertain you, if not maybe you'd hear something new and learn about something u werent aware youd even want to know. Same as I bet you've had a life that is unique and youve probably seen and done shit that i never have or woulda thought to, and u may have some stories and thoughts I'd be interested in hearing about. Don't sell urself short with throwaway lines, I know you have to be a more interesting person with more interesting thoughts than just that line. Sorry for the novel. If my country were to fall or fail, where would my family be and what future would they have and what future would my unborn have? Family comes first but once the bullets start flying around them, and you get them to safety, I believe we go back to help the rest. I can't always be around to help my family but I'm always somewhere where I can help somebody else's family, and I expect somebody else to stand up and help mine. Yeah but that's just how the world works, I think stereotyping is almost ok. But it doesn't mean you don't treat someone with respect, give them the opportunity to prove these things wrong.
I work in a physically demanding job and most women can't do it (hell most men cant), but that doesn't mean we wouldn't let a woman into the department. All have transitioned back to their previous area, we have one woman who's been doing it for 20 years. No one thought she could do it, and she proved them wrong. Even I am a reasonable small, fit man and everyone thought I wouldn't make it. But those things don't measure effort and willingness to do what ever it takes.
It's only when we let stereotypes cloud are judgement or make us treat people inadequate, that when stereotypes become a problem.

Religion was divisive up until we had countries that allowed freedom of religion. To my knowledge the Mongolian Empire was the only empire or kingdom from the past that allowed freedom of religion, then America came along Religion teaches you to respect all life, doesn't matter if it's a person or a bunny rabbit. It's the principal of it.

That hug at the end is powerful. We're so caught up in labeling each other. By hating and demonizing each other we're only driving the wedge deeper. We need unity and understanding. People see someone's skin color and automatically lumps them into one big group, which they paint with a wide brush. Things aren't black and white; there are shades of gray in there. The only people calling me racist, sexist, homophobic, etc (every buzz-word) are those that don't actually know me. They love me until they discover my views. Nobody should have to prove that they're not those hateful things (certain individuals feel the need to 24/7 on social media), the evidence speaks for itself. That shouldn't be the default.

Joyner is one of the top MCs of his time. Also the stuff he talks about and his word play will always make him a top rapper of his generation. He's just not popular like Drake but one of my favorite rappers. Its not mumble rap or trap rap. Politics and point of views in rap lol its great

this is some real shit. I'm white and my best friend is black. We didn't meet until we were adults so never really saw any struggles he had, just knew he had a nice house and nice family like I did. Thought all this shit was bs until we one day broke down and kinda let off on each other about this type of thing. We hugged it out just like in the video and we both grew. Shit hits hard man, we just gotta hear both sides of the story, we all a product of this fucked up world and no ones to blame but the system that fucked it all up.

What I don't agree with for this particular music video is the insinuation that only black people live in an economic "frying pan." I grew up lower income while my parents were young. My mother was attending college (first gen) and they both worked to pay her way. For the first 12 years of my life my dad juggled two jobs to keep food on our table. His hands were beat up so bad from the manual labor gig he sometimes couldn't close them. On the weekdays he slept a few hours between jobs. I remember once winter my mom wore duct tape in her shoe so she could buy me a new pair because I had grown out of mine. She paid her student loans for YEARS which meant she went "without" so we could have a lot. And they made sure to send all three of us girls to college. My dad finally went back to school for what he was really gifted to do- computer programming. He died at 45 in a car accident before he could really enjoy the fruits of his labor. We came from nothing, had nothing, and people treated us like nothing. (But it keeps us humble to remember) Fast forward to now; my husband and I own a home, and are busy raising two daughters who will, God willing, never know what the "end of a check" fear feels like. I am where I am because the sacrifices of my parents, my grandparents, my great-grandparents and so on who came here in rags as Irish immigrants and worked their way out of utter poverty so I could give my children something. I'm proud of them and their struggle... their bravery. We as Americans need to be future minded, Christ dependent, and compassionate to ALL people because we never know what their situation is. Humanity is a shared and universal experience no matter the ethnicity. I look forward to Heaven where none on this will stand between me and my global family. ❤

The power in this song is about listening to both sides. Not just agree with the ideas that reinforce your beliefs and getting out of your comfort zone to understand the other side. It would be interesting to see how you would feel if a white man reacted to it and had the same response as pops but in reverse.

Yes! The only way to solve any issue is honest conversations! It's how we can come to understanding of why each other feels, or believes, what they do. We don't have to agree. But if we understand, we can respect. And if we respect, we can meet in the middle to reach mutually acceptable solutions!
