A little trick I learned the hard way is always clean up the hole the ball joint sits in, with sand paper obviously don't go overboard but this will help a lot and I use white lithium grease to help them slide in easier. That tool is also available at harbor freight and usually has a coupon available with it, got mine for 42.00 tax and all.

Good video! How did you manage to get the new boot on? The one that came with my new ball joint just doesn't want to snap on by hand.. very hard plastic at the bottom base

I don’t remember exactly, but I know it was pretty easy to pop the new boot on.

My '04 needs upper and lower ball joints. I'd can do it myself, but I don't have air tools. Do you think it'd be possible to do this with a breaker bar? I have a ratcheting one as well. Both 1/2" drive with impact sockets.

It is possible to do the ball joint without air tools. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! I just bought it with 189K miles for a pretty good price. I'm finding out why! Your videos have been extremely helpful as you've repaired things I'll likely be running into.
