Thanks for checking out the video, I hope it's helpful to you.
It was way easy to take a 2 foot pry bar and bend the body out of the way. It really did just bend the lip enough to get the bolt past. Thank you for your videos.
Thanks man, this was really helpful. I noticed the clearance issues that might happen on the driver's side and was losing hope that I could even get the bolt off.
Starting a job Sunday on my 05 envoy. Upper control arms. Just what I needed to see! Thanks
Good luck with your project 👍
Thanks a lot body it was so clear and helpful your video for me
That’s was what I needed
Glad it helped 👍
You're doing a great job filming your work on the car keep it going
Thanks 👍
Thanks for posting this video, I'm just about to take this job on with my Envoy. I like to do some research before I start projects, tends to save time and help avoid headaches or at least to know in advance when a job is a total PITA and I should just expect it. Your video is the only one I found that calls out that issue with the sheet metal on the drivers side. Every other video I watched on this job just showed the passenger side UCA replacement. Nice work, liked and subscribed.
Thank you sir 👊 I’m glad my video was helpful. Good luck with your project.
So i changed my driver upper control arm about a year ago. I bought a battery dremmel from harbor freight and it sucked, it was cutting for about a hour when my dad came with those pliers and bent the metal back and did the same method as you backing the bolt with a ratcheting wrench ( worth every penny) and the rest with some pliers.
Just what I needed to see. Never did this job before and thought, ahhh, no problem, until I went to the drivers side. My first thought was to drumel out that section to get the bolt in the front out and sure enough, that's what you did here Keven. Thanks for the torque numbers and the walk through of what the manual said about it's OK to tighten the bolts before lowering the vehicle, I was wondering about that. Look at that, this video was helpful to someone even after 3 years. Great vid! Now I need to get to work.
Glad it was helpful. Good luck with your truck👍
I sold my Rainier but I still watch just in case I ever get another one of these style of Trucks. Thanks for posting these.
I appreciate your support 👊
@@KevinNadeau Your very welcome. I like your video style and you provide good info. Besides you have an old Corvette simular to what I had, like motorcycle riders who wave as they pass on the road, I support Corvette owners.
Thanks for video just figured out what issue was. Vibration is terrible lol. I found exactly what you showed and could manually shake it back and forth so much slop with bolts showing like yours. Thanks for the how to. 👍. Hopefully in stock so I can get started in the morning.
👍 Good luck with the fix
Great video and easy to follow.
Thank you
Welcome!
I just replaced my passenger side with a Mevotech upper control arm. Most of it was straightforward except the pinch clamp that goes on the ball joint was too thick to seat all the way down and I could not get the pinch bolt back in without grinding material from the bottom of that section. Think I'll try another brand when I replace the driver's side. Also the ABS cable clamp would not come out of the old arm not matter how much I tried working screwdrivers etc. up into the clip. Finally broke and now I have it securely zip tied into place while I try to find a replacement.
Do these vehicles have pitman and idler arms? I can't find any videos of those being repaired on the trailvoys
These vehicles have rack and pinion which does away with the pitman and idler arm
Did you by chance change the lower control arm bushings and lower ball joints. Or is that later in your servicing regiment?
I haven't done the lowers yet, but I'll probably need to in the near future.
When trying to replace my control arm the nut on the inside of the bolt holding the control arm is spinning, any tips for this? I can't get a wrench or socket to go on the nut.
Hmm, I'm not sure why the nut would be doing that. Just a guess, but maybe there are welds holding the bolts that have rusted through or broke somehow. I'm sort of stumped on this one. I'd be interested to hear what you come up with.
I figured it out, the nut is press fit with grooves so it doesn't turn and it became wore out I had to spray penetrating oil on it and I just wedged a small pry bar against one side of the nut and got it off. My wife's idea.
@@joshuamckenzie831 Very nice! I know that's a satisfying feeling to have figured that out👍
Thank you
