This speaker has inaccurate data. It is a matter of actual statistics of low scoring that "the most important" golf shot is the approach into the green, not the putt and certainly not the drive. It is also a matter of statistics that the second most important golf shot for low scores is how many strokes it takes to get on the green if the green was missed on the first approach. Again, number of putt strokes and fairways in regulation (F.I.R.) are much less important to playing good golf than the number of strokes it takes to get on the missed green and hitting the green in regulation (G.I.R.). Putting and driving are merely the fifth and sixth most important statistic for low scores in golf.
Technically you are wrong its not approach shot. Its all about putting. I can miss all greens and still can shoot par or under because I can 1 putt all greens.
Great information. Thanks for sharing.

They are all related. A bad or short driver makes the approach short more difficult and so on
The most important shot in golf is the one you are making. It counts as 1 stroke, same as all the rest.
Your focusing on things that don't matter
