Now how dose this affect someone who is also on 2 BP meds with uncontrolled hypertension, T2D and on Mounjaro which causes a slow emptying of the stomach which can affect absorption?
You just answered MANY questions Ive had for years! Just tested...Homocysteine 18...low libido, low energy, moody. Going to hit the methyl donors hard and get checked for the genetic snp...THANK YOU SO MUCH
What also bugs me is that doctors will do a blood test and say you’re fine. Serum B12/Folate levels are pretty much worthless, it says what’s available but not what you’re able to absorb.
Glad to have found this channel. Great stuff. I started a methylated B complex today after finding out I had the MTHFR rs1801133 "AA" genotype associated with up to 70% reduced enzyme activity. Also found out I have a poor AGT genotype of GG. This has to do with angiotensinogen, which can influence aldosterone from the adrenals to regulate how kidneys absorb water/salt or not, thus regulating blood pressure. My pressure has been OK, but I do urinate quite often, and after being "asleep for 5 hours my chances of waking up are very high and I will have a full bladder to release if I don't try to drowsily ignore waking up to roll over and try to sleep more. This is true even if I don't rink much in the evening. Plus I notices that I do have some of he symptoms of high potassium and low sodium like heart palpitations, shortness o breath, confusion, restlessness, muscle weakness, spasms(as i fall asleep). Unsure where to look next to try to get to the bottom of this.
Thank you! I just found you a few weeks ago. You have helped me confirm a lot of my suspicions and turned me on to things I didn't even know. I just subscribed to your channel and will be ordering some of your products ( they are the only ones that look like they would work for me). Thanks again! I'll be watching some more of your older videos too. They look very helpful. 😊
I have all these, MTHFR, the low levels of B's and folate, but my homocysteine is not high. I worked with a functional medicine Dr for three yrs with no relief. I also have Hashimotos. Recently my depression is bad again ,so I just started taking antidepressants again.
The homocysteine nutrients are so awesome! My son has had bad OCD issues, eyes that roll, brain fog, ADHD etc…. His folate is low on his blood test but every time we tried folate by itself it made him aggressive and he would hit himself. I just bought the homocysteine nutrients and the very first day of taking it his OCD and brain fog improved. Thank you So much Dr. Lynch! The doctor he was seeing said no folate because he is an undermethalater and it would make him worse so my son has struggled for 5 years with things getting worse. I’m just curious if you feel the TMG is what is helping or the riboflavin? Should he stay on this the rest of his life or once he gets better just take methl b12/folate?
The state of Washington has just required tortillas to have folic acid added. It's already in many breads. Is there a way to add a form of folate that's friendlier? Not just the cheapest one that causes problems. I could refer your video to someone who could do something, but first have to get their attention.
I have a question for you Dr. Lynch. My daughter has a severe MTHFR gene mutation. She also has a mental illness for which she has to take medications. Her treatment really improved after adding methylfolate. However, recently she became intolerant to high doses of methylfolate and it was reduced significantly causing her treatment to not work as well and some of the doses of medication had to go up. Do you advise using Folinic Acid instead or along with methylfolate to improve the efficancy of her meds. Is folinic acid easier to tolerate than methylfolate?
Im a mother of four, one with none verbal autism. I have MTHFR . Im in Flordia for one year , prior was New York.. nobody listens to me here.. Im just trying to find help for my kiddos. They wont test them.. they dont recognize this as a mutation. Just was to help my kids. So glad i came across you Doc. They are now trying to push folic acid for my kids.but never tested. Finally they will test but for only mma and homocysteine. I dont fully agree with all this crap they speak.. and one of my sons has kidney and high bllod pressure... Iv cried so much. Everything is always medications. I dont like synthetic and dyes or fillers ect. Nothing like being told Im delusional or a crazy person. Its hard..just wish someone would hear me.
Dr. Lynch, I have the MTHR gene mutation and at age 16 they removed my thyroid gland because of a goiter. My T4 and T3 are reading normal in lab test. But my TSH is at 25.355. Normal they are saying is 0.550-4.780. What is wrong? I feel fine, a little stressed over the TSH. Please help me.
Dr. Ben I’d give anything to have a consult with you. I have your stratogene download & also a nutrahacker. I’m so confused as to what I need to take. I’m afraid if I can’t figure this out I’m not going to make it. I feel that horrible. Please 🙏
doctor help, my homocesteine is 70 µmol, I have mthfr tt and slc19a1 homozygote, I take methylfolate 400 µg and b12 1000 µg, homocesteine decreases from 70 to 40 per month of taking supplements, what could be the problem? maybe in B12 transport? In Russia, doctors cannot help me; they prescribe folic acid and not methylfolate, what should I do? help please? I'm 31 years old, height 193, weight 83
Dr. Ben, is it safe for people with methylation problems, slow breakdown of catecholamines ( due to slow COMT and MAO) take liothyronine sodium for thyroid? I have severe hypothyroidism due to high reverse T3, but i am not sure if it will stress my body ...
Dr. Ben lynch, in your book You tell about the COMT gene. You can have both, slow and fast… can you explain how to deal with both of these mutations instead of them separately?
My daughter suffers with Major Depression Dr. Lynch do u take new patients where r u located I know she need to b tested to start with MTHFR vitamin. D3 etc need help ❤️
Dr Lynch, Thansk for all the great videos and your passion for Genetics! Do you have any video's or info on how to manage a COMT GG (fast?) and MAOA TT (slow?) setup? 48 yrs old. My energy level is super low, some anxiety, taking an hour to go to bed, etc. Read your book and doing Strategene soon. Wondering what suppl to avoid and which to take if I have symptoms. Any guidence? Thanks !
Just wishing the methylb’s didn’t make me so anxious and more nuts! I don’t think we all can take them, it’s too tricky and complicated. It’s not as simple as taking methyl bs, or adding tmg or choline or all the other little try-and-see remedies for those who maybe overmethylate etc. -If that even what it is.
A question; I tried glutathione and didn’t feel any difference like when I am on NAC , does that mean that always I have to use NAC only or I should mix? Thank you
Im still confused... im high histamine, skin rashes- mucous all of it, high estrogen, heterozygous MTHFR C677T, heterozygous mutation on COMT V158M, and mold toxicity for Ochratoxin A, mycophenolic acid, and Gliotoxins- all nearly off the chart (without exageration) what of your seeking health suppliments will help me? You can test through 23andme, Ancestry or SelfDecode. I like SelfDecode the most as it is privately held, I like the founder, Joe (great and smart guy) and they have a great privacy policy. selfdecode.com/?a_aid=seekinghealth and use code SDDRLYNCH to save 10% on your purchase. Then, you would get the raw data from their genetic test and run it through StrateGene which is the report I created. SelfDecode has reports too so if you're happy with what they offer, you would not need StrateGene. No one should use cyanocobalamin or folic acid. Both are trash. You would use either methylcobalamin, hydroxocobalamin, folinic acid or methylfolate. We have all these available at seekinghealth.com in lozenges, chewable multivitamins and capsules.
Hi Dr Ben, one of your very early videos from years ago mentioned briefly that C677T (C,C) is “good.” I’ve struggled to find any further information - can you please elaborate on having C677T (C,C)
Hi there - I may have said that - but I now say that MTHFR C677 CC is typical and that MTHFR C677 CT or TT are the variants. One is not good and one is not bad. They are different. That's how I look at them now. To be clear for you, yes - the CC is 'good' but it's not actually 'good' - it's just what is typical - no variation and in genetic speak - it's wild type.
So if lo methylation then what enzyme isnt made? and how increase it? if low methylation than maybe hi homocystein which reduces some neurotrans but raise glutamine(GABA makes me irritable)? Have found a tiny bit on occasion of extra vit C and vite E foods helping me. What form of choline?
Guys i just wanna say that mthfr or mtrr doeasnt mean anything, if you have mthfr at least 50% reduction just take 3mg of suplemental ryboflavin because b2 highly speeds up mthfr, mtrr regenerates methylcobalamin but its only important if you are under huge stress in your live like injury or other problems, cbs enzyme is very important because of gluthatione so you want to suplement with nac(and maybe glycine), bhmt may lower your remathylation to methionine from homocysteine so its important to lower methylation demand by suplementing with creatine and if you have mutations in creatine synthesis or cbs it may lead generaly to overmethylation of system because your body compansate by methylating more so depending on mutation suplement with creatine or nac
I am interested in what you are saying here. Do you have any research you can point me to so I can share this with my doctor and add to my own protocol?
