I miss Walmart from 2000-2009, before there were only supercentres and stuff. I liked when it was simple and classic. I loved being a kid and always getting those smiley face stickers when I went to walmart
I remember actually being excited to visit Walmart when I was a kid. That was from the late 90s to the early 2000s. Somewhere around 2010, in my opinion, things really started changing. My folks were able to purchase some good quality izod shirts that I still own from Walmart. Now, it seems like everything that I get from there degrades quickly. I don't enjoy going there anymore; in fact, if I can help it, I will make Walmart the first store that I go to in a shopping run so I don't have to think about going there later on. As a kid, Walmart was our last stop, and the one that I enjoyed the most. Thanks for making me remember those yellow stickers @coyote_302; that was a good memory. :)
David Ross you are not wrong about the items degrading. I work for one Supercenter and I am not a big fan of the low quality merchandise. Granted, I believe if the people actually were happy working there, I think it would be better.

Their electronics department used to be amazing in the late 90's-early 00's; there was a huge selection of videos games for PC, Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and SEGA. There was also a ton of great selections for movies and music, too. Now, at least the few stores I've been to, the department has decreased dramatically and their selection for movies and games are almost non-existent in comparison to back then. They do have a nice selection of vinyl records, though haha.

Many of us are asking. Why is Walmart so bad now? Well that is because its less family driven and run. There employs are treated terribly , doesnt matter if you have been with the company for 20 years. You are seen and treated as a day one employee in probation. I wish it was run and operated as is intended and not by investors or by a board.
At that time, Walmart has been opened in my country Indonesia mainly in Jakarta (main city) in 1995 which was located in Megamall Pluit (later known as Pluit Village Mall) but after 3 years it closedown due to 1997 Asian Financial Crisis and later replaced by Carrefour Indonesia (later acquired by Trans Retail in 2013) which currently converts to Transmart since 2020 then on.
Kmart was attempting to be like Walmart in the 1990s but had to rely on suppliers like SuperValu and Fleming to stock their supercenters. Instead of advertising and building their own grocery distribution center in a manner how Walmart has done for their supercenters, the supercenters weren't advertised as much. As a result, many supercenter constructions were halted and were retooled to be built as regular Kmart stores. As a result of the 2002 bankruptcy, 12 Super kmarts were closed and in 2003, Kmart closed 58. Walmart tried to enter the South Korean and German markets but failed and withdrawn in 2006.

Mr. Sam Wallton should've met with founder of world-famous Banda El Recodo, Mr. Cruz Lizarraga, the father of Mexico's Sinaloan-band music. Mr. Lizarraga had a similar "rags-to-riches" type of situation to that of Mr. Walton, but in the regional mexican music industry, instead. Even though the Sinaloan-band music genre already existed before Mr. Lizarraga got involved, he is considered the tather of the genre since he got rid of some and introduced new musical instruments that made the genre catchy and fun-sounding. El Recdo de Cruz Lizarraga has the special title of "Mother of all Sinaloan-Bands" and is considered the "Harvard University of Sinaloan-Band". Fun Fact: Just like Mr. Walton has a museum dedicated to him on what was his 5-10 store, Mr. Lizarraga's birthhouse at the Mexican State of Sinaloa was repurposed as a museum dedicated to Mr. Lizarraga too.
I was in highschool in the early 90s 1991-1995. Now in 2023 they are mostly supercenter. theres no more single stores if you found a state that has a walmart the old way were it was the size of a dollar store it'll be rare.
I remembered the 1st time in going to a Walmart. It was in June 1989 with my grandparents. I was in and out of the store because of my grandparents. I went to the same Walmart with my parents shortly after that first time. Where I was from there was a Walmart close towards my home about 1 mile away. That was in 1991. It was a little bit bigger and a nicer one. There is one that I still liked to go that is near me but, it is about 40 minutes away from my home. I don’t mind driving towards it. It was a smaller one and in 2012 a new one was built near the old one. The new one is a super Walmart. It is a bigger store. I don’t mind in going to it for my shopping needs.
There's a movie where a woman secretly lives in a Walmart and has her baby in Walmart too. I think it's called Where the Heart Is and it has Natalie Portman in it.
AlbertWesker203 They did but it’s not all Walmart’s fault. Kmart didn’t take care of their stores they let them get outdated. Then they merged with sears another failing company. The sad thing is the CEO of Sears and Kmart won’t do anything about it.
Kmart and sears killed themselves! As Walmart adjusted with the change in times, kmart and sears were lost in the past and that concept nowadays doesn't work. You don't want to update stores or be competitive and treat consumers with lower prices and more selection you mine as well dig your grave as a retailer. I love Walmart and there stores are always up to date and usually have the things I need at the best prices so why shop elsewhere.
Nothing is forever. I'm sure Kmart thought that they would never go under. 20 years and everyone will be saying Walmart who.? Some people don't live long after getting cancer my grandma died within three weeks of finding out she had it. I think a lot of people think they would have a year but a lot don't.
Didn't they have syrup pumps (cherry, chocolate, vanilla) that you could mix with your soda? I seem to be the only one remember them having that so far. I used to mix cherry and chocolate with either my Dr Pepper or Coca Cola. I never used the vanilla because I hated vanilla when I was a kid. But someone please tell me if I'm remembering right or not. 😭
I miss when Walmart had separate departments in fresh foods and not the CAP teams. To this day my meat manager at store #2836 is the best manager I’ve ever had. I know Walmarts get a bad rep but the people you work with there makes the difference
Walmart was something back in the day. Now, what with all these fights that take place in store and weirdos causing trouble on the premises etc., its like the kind of company that Jerry Springer should have been made CEO of.

Sam Walton is rolling in his grave now with the way things are run at Walmart. It used to be about family, now it’s all about the all mighty dollar.
me having super target in my Minecraft world: 🥳
ok I have a walmart now
Super kmart was the bomb
C C I have a Kmart too.
Customer service is dead
I was in highschool in the early 90s 1991-1995. Now in 2023 they are mostly supercenter. theres no more single stores if you found a state that has a walmart the old way were it was the size of a dollar store it'll be rare.
May you rest in peace you old legend
I miss the old Walmart SuperCenters.
What Type Of Fonts Is It?
Still dont understand why they dont let you live in a Wal-Mart, I mean why sell tents if you dont want people living in them behind the Fabric dept ..
There's a movie where a woman secretly lives in a Walmart and has her baby in Walmart too. I think it's called Where the Heart Is and it has Natalie Portman in it.
My Walmart is just about the only non-super Walmart in the state and I'm grateful that it still has a little bit of charm
Walmart killed Kmart lol.
And Mom and pop shops.
AlbertWesker203 They did but it’s not all Walmart’s fault. Kmart didn’t take care of their stores they let them get outdated. Then they merged with sears another failing company. The sad thing is the CEO of Sears and Kmart won’t do anything about it.
ThePoreproductions Walmart didn't kill Mom and Pop stores people killed mom and pop stores by shopping at Walmart over their mom and pop stores
Matthew Hybel I love outdated looking Walmarts
Nothing is forever. I'm sure Kmart thought that they would never go under. 20 years and everyone will be saying Walmart who.? Some people don't live long after getting cancer my grandma died within three weeks of finding out she had it. I think a lot of people think they would have a year but a lot don't.
Not one mention of the sweat shops.
Remember when Walmart had TVs mounted to the ceiling that had a yellow Walmart border with a Walmart worker on the border
I remember wal mart was friendliest when I was looking Toy Story 2 toys and Pokémon first generation in 1999
Now that's what I would call a throwback.
That aged well-
Didn't they have syrup pumps (cherry, chocolate, vanilla) that you could mix with your soda? I seem to be the only one remember them having that so far. I used to mix cherry and chocolate with either my Dr Pepper or Coca Cola. I never used the vanilla because I hated vanilla when I was a kid. But someone please tell me if I'm remembering right or not. 😭
Sam put it down like a Boss 💪
I miss when Walmart had separate departments in fresh foods and not the CAP teams. To this day my meat manager at store #2836 is the best manager I’ve ever had. I know Walmarts get a bad rep but the people you work with there makes the difference
Walmart was something back in the day. Now, what with all these fights that take place in store and weirdos causing trouble on the premises etc., its like the kind of company that Jerry Springer should have been made CEO of.
Remember when Walmart had a whole isle for kids makeup ? Now they only have a small little section
I was 2 days old when uploading this.
the Golden era
Walmart was such a cool place back then. The world used to have cool places. McDonald's had their play places. It's so sad seeing this, actually.
What is the narrator’s name
I got my first pair of glasses and eye checkup at Walmart and I remember walking outside and being amazed at the little rocks in the asphalt. I love going to Walmart lol that's sad but true.
Anyone else remember the arcades they had by the registers?
All hail Walmart supercentre
"By exploiting its workers and strong-arming vendors, Walmart is able to save you a whopping 2-3 cents on the things you need every day!"
