I bought the burgundy trousers because of your recommendation and I love them! And they are not itchy at all, exactly like you said. Thanks for your informative videos
Yak wool is supposed to be very similar to merino! But it's even more antimicrobial, warmer, softer, lighter, and slightly more expensive. I want to try Sezane's yak wool but waiting for a more interesting style
That's quite an interesting direction you're going indeed 😊 I agree with you on the compositions though I recently made a couple of compromises - like that Sama jumper in yellow screamed my name and surprisingly it's not itchy! I avoid synthetical fibers like the plague, so I get you. Bad for the environment, I sweat more easily in them, their look decline lot faster than natural fibers ones, itchy and frankly at Sezane's price points I refuse to buy anything less than full natural, I can go to other places then. It's just not worth it. Especially bc I only want to invest in pieces that I can keep for many years.
I agree, and it’s so annoying to find a 100 % linen blazer for example that has a 100 % polyester lining (i thrifted one and was too excited about the linen marking that I totally missed the lining composition info). 🫠
I passed on everything because I've been very mindful in the past 3 years what I add to my wardrobe.Currently only item on my wishlist is one of the Smythe blazers which I'm saving to get for myself.
As a knitter, I can say that the itchiness of mohair WIDELY varies. You can find a few mohairs that actually soften and make wool/merino more long lasting. I have the gaspard and another sweater from Sezane in mohair and the mohair they choose is definitely on the itchier side if you are sensitive.
Really good video Katie! Nothing more disappointing than a lovely Sezane item that is purely synthetic, especially for the price. I loved the colours of the lookbook, but there is something missing. There's also not a lot of options to layer underneath?? Like more blouses or tops that go with the knits and outerwear.
I have a really beautiful yak wool sweater (in burgundy❤️) it’s quite dressy and nice for staying warm during winter get togethers or events but it’s not a full day wear for me. If I bought another yak piece it would be a cardigan or vest, something that wasn’t next to skin.
I agree with your reviews of the fabric composition wholeheartedly. Thank you so much! On Sunday I ordered the navy Adel Jumper and I think I purchased the last one in stock in my size. 😅Hope the bell sleeves aren’t too wide as you say.
I have many sweaters from Sezane and love the ones with more knitting patters on them. This year there was only the Andina cardigan which was in the style I was hoping for, but in the wrong colours for me. So I have only added the Othello cardigan in the smokey blue this year and hold on for more exciting knits and hopefully some cashmere pieces! I am wearing an Everlane cashmere jumper right now and nothing feels more comfortable than cashmere! Regards, Gisela
Nice pieces, but I do not know what I would pick😆! If you were to choose between burgundy Demelier Vancouver and Sezane Milo Classic what would you pick? I am struggling to decide which one to get! Thanks so much for your opinion!😘
I have the Lauren in yak wool and I love it. It's definitely soft, but not too soft if that makes sense. I"m not worried that it's going to just wear away or pill on me. Recommend the yak wool but I am one of those who cannot wear cropped jumpers so am sadly going to have to skip most of their other yak wool pieces. I did go for the Adel in navy but I like the wide sleeves so have high hopes for it. I do wish the "surprise gift" totes were optional though. That's something I appreciate about Lilysilk - you can opt out of their little freebies if you don't want them.
Great video, as always, Katie! :) Not buying anything from Sézane at the moment and for the forseeable future (haven't bought anything from them in about a year, actually). I'm with you on the fabric contents... for the price of most items, you'd expect better. But the thing that displeases me even more is the fact that now almost everything is made in China. And this is by no means a matter of xenophobia - just the opposite. By now we should all be very aware of how factory workers in a lot of Asian countries are treated, and the fact that suddenly Sézane started producing what, 80%? of their collections in China just shows that they are trying to severely cut down on the costs of production by outsourcing to places where workers are being paid much less and expected to work a lot more and in worse conditions. The main reason that got me into Sézane in the first place was precisely the fact that they produced mostly in Europe, so I didn't have to worry about my clothes having been made by exploited poor women and children.
Thank you! I don’t know, I’m conflicted on this topic and I think it’s definitely nuanced. I’m very reluctant to swear off all clothing made in a particular country, without knowing the factories they’re using I feel (personally) it’s impossible to tell. China has some of the best clothing manufacturers in the world. I understand that it’s cheaper for sézane and probably why they do it though. The Dior scandal that happened recently shows that just because it’s made in Europe, doesn’t guarantee ethical labour practices.
@@katie_louise thanks for your reply. I do get your point. There have been similar situations in the UK during the pandemic, and also recently in Portugal in the agricultural sector. The thing is that those unethical practices came to light because they also happened to be illegal. They were scandals because they occurred in democratic countries, with labour regulations that were not being met, and there was a free press to scrutinize and uncover these situations. Several conscious brands, on the other hand, produce in Asia and still manage to have transparent practices and get good ratings from platforms such as Good on You. Producing in Asia, by itself, doesn't have to be a bad thing. But in the specific case of Sézane, it happened alongside other significant changes in the brand's ethos, so I don't really think it's just a small irrelevant detail. It's Sézane becoming essentially a fast fashion brand. And, all the time, I hear people say things like "for this price, you can get 100% wool in [insert name of fast fashion brand]". Perhaps it's also worth thinking that if you can afford and are willing to pay Sézane prices, then you can choose to support other brands who are making better efforts in general.
Lea cardigan is so gorgeous especually the buttons. But I tried it and it is 1. extremely itchy 2. So hairy, everything around me was hairy - no go with black trousers. I was really tempted by it but then i thought - if i buy something for this price, it must be super comfortable. I wonder why do they do that? Or most of the people dont mind itchy?
@@kaw6168 I definitely was hoping for that too. (think Sezane usually labels the warmer red, Garnet). Definitely agree with you - I wish Sezane would share the details like composition in the lookbook. Thanks so much for sharing the video. :)
The Mia cardigan is truly beautiful! But my word, the itchyness!! 😅 I couldn't bare more than a minute of try-on. Now I don't even order anything from Sezane anymore, that looks fluffy. 😅
I’m exactly like you on this one. I have really sensitive skin so I avoid all the mohair and the alpaca. Sometimes the polyamide is itchy as well. So none of their jumpers appealed to me sadly. I got really tempted with the Clyde coat in the checked fabric and I ordered it. I have the Mathew trousers in brown from last year and I love them! Not sure whether to get the black ones or the burgundy ones 🤔 if you do get the Hillary dress please let us know! ❤
Hi there thank you so much for the lovely review. You and I are on the same exact wave length about itchiness so I really value your opinion. I can’t even look at some of the book book because I get itchy just looking.
I have a long cardigan with a high neck in Yak’s wool from Bodio’s (this is their brand description "The wool of the yak is just as soft, and warmer than cashmere. We only use the undyed yak. Our precious fibres are all processed in-house, and we spend more time on finishing than any other producer. As a result, our knitwear is super smooth.”). The undyed color is an amazing rich cool chocolate brown. I agree that it’s super smooth to the touch, very fluffy and comfy. I am not that bothered cause it’s a cardigan, but the high collar it’s sometimes itchy. Beautiful quality for sure.
I have the Rick coat (shorter Mederick) in Black from last year. I was hoping they would release it again this year in more colours but so far we have not seen it. I purchased the Adel jumper in Navy because I actually think the buttons all the way down the sleeves is different. I’m getting to the point now where I only need one or two pieces a season so I’m pretty selective. I also bought the Annie shirt in the pink pattern because it’s 100% silk and has more Spring vibes to me.
Yes that Annie shirt is perfect for you going into Spring! Agreed, I think we are all collectively being more selective which can only be a good thing 😊
@@katie_louisesadly I don’t love the Annie on me. The ecru part of the pattern is actually a super warm cream which you can’t tell from the photo. I love the Adel jumper in Navy and I think the buttons down the sleeves are something different (until every starts copying it 😅) and I love the merino/cotton blend. I wanted to update in case anyone comes back to see what I thought.
Honest question, has Sezane always had so many jumpers made in China? I’m not sure if I wasn’t paying attention in prior years but I was surprised how many are now labeled “Made in China.”
As far as I’m aware yes they’ve always produced a good chunk in China, as well as Europe. Personally, I don’t have a problem with it, China has some of the best clothing manufacturers in the world. Without knowing the exact factory, you can’t tarnish all the clothes made in one country as ‘bad’. If you heard about the Dior scandal which happened recently in Italy, that shows that poor labour practices and mistreatment of workers can happen in Europe as well.
I got the Othello in charcoal because I was planning to get the Othello in a couple colours from the start, but I was so disappointed with the composition of the green Nils. Love the look of it but I just know it is going to be SO itchy. I liked the Annie shirt but think the print might be more pillowcase than clothing friendly. I think it’s going to make an adorable tote. I debated the Sami and Jacob in burgundy, but like you, was confused if it’s actual cool burgundy or if it’s the warm, almost rusty burgundy. I trust that because Sezane always errs on the side of warm, it’s the rusty shade which is not friendly to my colouring
I’m new to Sezane and I have found your viideos really helpful. I bought a Carlo waistcoat in green and a green claude bag. I am also waiting for a navy lace bag ad an artemis belt but that order is stuck in customs for some reason. I am wondering about that pale blue coat. Thank you for your explorations.
I'm not very sensitive to wool/mohair, but I have the Lizette cardigan from Sezane and I can't stand it! So itchy on my skin. It's on sale on my vinted for that reason, even though I like it. Same for a previous cardigan from them, gone. On the contrary I used the purple Pippa dress (the sleeveless one) a ton this summer, and I don't wear that color usually. Really flattering and easy to style. I find Sezane prices high for what they offer, that's for sure, and it's hard to find stuff secondhand give the amount of fakes. But I enjoy what I kept from them, I think some of the clothes are still worth it.
I tried the TOMI jumper and the yak wool was not bad. I did not find it itchy and I am normally sensitive that. The fit was definitely boxy and not flattering on me.
I’m not tempted to buy anything from the lookbook - I have enough pieces from Sezane and I don’t think that it’s a very interesting style to always dress head to toe in the same brand. Ordered some items from the brand Petite Mendigote recently though- it’s a brand with similar style than Sezane but for a more affordable price though (and better composition as well).
I am sorry but checking the composition petit mendigote results being still expensive especially bc the quality is a lot worse than Sézane…I only see 100% synthetic fibers clothes…😅
@@francescamssc22 nah, I ordered a 100% cotton dress from the archives and a 100% wool jumper as well. I also ordered from Balzac and Maison 123, those items were good too. It’s worth to shop around instead of buying from one brand imo
I don't know the brand ''les mains de mamie'' but in French it could be translate like this '' handmade by grandma'' so it's cute don't know if its true if it is truly handmade ....
I love the sami and naelle set but as soon as I washed them (following the instructions to the T) they shrunk by like 3 sizes....Sezane customer service was super nice and reimbursed me but now I am scared for my other set. Are these not meant to be washed 😅 such a shame. Has anyone else had the same experience?
I dont't know anything about the particular pieces you mentioned, but anything with wool in it is better to be hand washed only (and sparingly washed in general). If there is no stain on a wool piece it suffices to air it for a few hours.
Love your videos! Interesting the Othello is itchy for you. It was recommended that I try that over the Emile. The Othello feels super soft to me… I’m super sensitive but I can’t do most things with mohair/wool. I can’t only do merino, alpaca, cotton. I think I might try the Sami jumper/a Elle combo in navy. The burgundy is beautiful but feels far too “holiday” for me.
Hopefully it will be okay for you! Honestly itchiness is so personal I think 😅 I remember it wasn’t the worst one I’ve tried but I just don’t find mohair in any capacity comfortable 🤣
It also depends on your body type. I like the wool coat from Sézane better for my x figure than those overloaded coats from & other Stories. I had a swimmer's back in them, terrible. And I didn't find the quality that great either.
Why are you against polyamide? (Real question to make myself more understand it). I have been wearing only natural fibers (or items with like 90% natural fibers) but lately I don’t mind when there is some man-made fiber in it.. to let a product last longer. Ofc I know it’s better for nature to use only natural products. But consuming much natural product that last shorter is also not that good for nature due to the whole producing process. I wonder what your reasons are.
I’m not completely against it! But for example, I know the Mederick coat which is 100% wool is beautiful quality, I’ve had it for two years and no signs of wear. For the same price, why would I pick a coat that is 30% polyamide? I know in some instances it can benefit a garment, but many times it’s there so the brand can cut costs.
@@katie_louisei totally agree. I’m always interested on the next cashmere piece.Sezane used to do cashmere pieces or a mix with wool. They have now replaced it with yak wool, Disappointed. On the Clyde coat I totally agree with you, for that price better off getting the Mederick. Always loving your videos x
I bought a yak wool mix turtleneck from Muji back in 2017. It really helped me survive NYC winters. Since it was a blend, i cant say how pure yak wool feels. Unfortunately i didnt read the care labels back then and i completely fckd it up lmao
Honestly my sézane shopping went downhill as soon as I saw the polyester and polymiade amount in knits. @@katie_louise sure! If we assume that their yak fiber is of a good quality, then this is probably great news for those who shop the brand.
Great picks! Thank you for watching ❤
Yak wool is comfy on skin and very warm, however it is certainly not as soft as merino and cashmere.
Yak wool is probably cheaper to manufacture than merino. I think it has durable qualities.
Actually I am wrong about cost. It may even be more expensive.
I’ll have to check out Petite Mendigote, thanks!
Hey Katie. Do you have a discount code active now for sezane?
I don’t, sorry! Sézane don’t really offer discount codes 🤍
The new Milo bag is burgundy in real life, just like in the pictures!!
no way!!
@@katie_louise maybe not that purple like in the first pictures, but definetly not brown(I don't have the Claude, but I have the new Milo)
I don't know the brand ''les mains de mamie'' but in French it could be translate like this '' handmade by grandma'' so it's cute don't know if its true if it is truly handmade ....
Do you still like your rosewood Othello?
On the yak wool.. a colleague of mine is a knitter and she doesn't really rate yak wool as it's not as soft as a merino or cashmere
The Sweater, u got on is from sezane ? Color is beautiful V Collar not very deep love that
it's linked in the description! But no it's not Sezane
What do the instructions say? I hand wash all my Sézane knits x
Oh I just purchased the Evy cardigan but I am planning to wear it with something inside... I hope it's not going to be itchy 😢
Evy is very soft! 🤍
Hopefully it will be okay for you! Honestly itchiness is so personal I think 😅 I remember it wasn’t the worst one I’ve tried but I just don’t find mohair in any capacity comfortable 🤣
Thanks good video but i wish you would have placed yourself on the bottom right or left to see the items more clearly.
Okay thanks for the feedback 😊
I have wool coats from & other stories and COS less than £300 and theyre all 100% wool 😊
Exactly!! These Sézane ones are just not worth it
@@katie_louise yeah honestly they need to do better if they're charging those prices!
Did you need to hem your Matthew trousers?
No I’m 165cm and they are just right on me ❤
I keep sending stuff back
Yeah, some of the items are pretty disappointing once you receive them ☹️
I’m not sure on the Yak wool, I think it’s supposed to replace their cashmere. It’s a pass for me.
It baffles me they are not using any cashmere tbh. It’s the right price point for the brand their customers would eat it up. Makes no sense to me
@@katie_louisei totally agree. I’m always interested on the next cashmere piece.Sezane used to do cashmere pieces or a mix with wool. They have now replaced it with yak wool, Disappointed.
On the Clyde coat I totally agree with you, for that price better off getting the Mederick.
Always loving your videos x
The Jady is cropped
I bought a yak wool mix turtleneck from Muji back in 2017. It really helped me survive NYC winters. Since it was a blend, i cant say how pure yak wool feels.
Unfortunately i didnt read the care labels back then and i completely fckd it up lmao
Haha oops, we’ve all been there 😂
I would never buy anything that is even the slightest itchy.
Do you want to SEO the videos on your UA-cam channel?
The new Sezane is disappointing. The prettiest knits are all mohair blends--scratchy! Prices are up & styling seems to be mediocre.
Honestly my sézane shopping went downhill as soon as I saw the polyester and polymiade amount in knits. I am waiting for Sami + Naelle in camel and maybe buying Betty since those have good composition 🫶🏻 but overall I am very disappointed in the knit and coat quality since Sézane have in almost every piece polyester 🥲
