Rudis. Naa. I had just put it in for the 1st time and it did the patch update and then started playing and after a few mins, it just ejected and and went to main menu of the system.
Rudis yeah, so far. I played a few mins more when I put the game back in and it didn't do it anymore. No other game has done that and I got most of the big titles also but no issue with those games.
in terms of image quality, this is the best game I've played so far on the pro, it really looks like native 4k, their technology is really breathtaking

Who cares, I'd rather have the original quirky jokes and dialogue with better frame rates vs this garbage being altered to fit their garbage movie version that nobody went to see.
In reality it is only 1440p with temporal anti aliasing , and temporal injection it is like a 4k buffer injection.. The result is amazing it is like a 4k native presentaition.. Aliasing doesn't exist on this game.. You cannot get this kind of image at pc 1440p native without a trick from the developers... This is not normal native 1440p... Ratchet and clank method is also use on shadow of the colossus with taa temporal reconstruction and 4k buffer injection.. I thing developers should use 1440p native on ps4 pro then inject it with 4k buffer..rather than to use 4k checkerboard
@@MrBenedick14 Insomniac's temporal injection is definitely a marvelous piece of tech that gives an incredible image quality and clarity while maintaining consistent performance. More devs should use this method honestly
This game is pretty much proof that the small selection of Pro games that run worse can be blamed on the devs making a subpar patch.

well PRO is pretty under powered anyways, specs kind of blow, and check board system is just shit when you see background, shading, lighting. To much blur, not able to maintain 60fps really whats the point getting PRO when you're playing game in 30 fps

My stefather (R.I.P) use to play R&C every day. I bought him golf games, racing games & adventure/puzzle games.. Then i came home with R&C.. Then he played R&C non stop.. Never ever touched the other games again..

Its because frame timing is way more important than fps.
An evenly paced 30fps game will feel infinitely smoother than an unbalanced 60fps game. I wish people understood the issue more instead of just blurting out '30fps is unplayable', '30 fps makes me sick' '30fps peasants' etc etc. Nope - its uneven frame pacing does that, not 30 fps.
You'd think seeing as digital foundry always talk about it, and even have a meter in every video showing it, more people would pay attention and understand it. Sadly, most of the people who watch these videos are just looking for reasons to crap on platforms or games they don't like. There's no reasoning with such people.

The in-game gameplay of this looks like the cinematic visuals from a crack in time. It's simply amazing.

Ioannis Stf That's your opinion not sure how "lol no" contributes to anything.
For me a smooth 60 is imperative as I have become so used to it in games like Counter Strike, Darks Souls, Terraria etc on my PC, that I find it very hard to play games at 30fps due to how much easier I perceive the lack of smoothness.
I also tend to perceive lag in 30fps games which is a consequence of not having as much frames therefore less responsiveness between controller and game.

Trust me this would look a lot more like the cartoons if it ran at 60. Game frame rates and movie framerates are not directly comparable as they employ different techniques. Just look at how smooth a pixar movie looks compared to a 30fps game even though it's technically lower fps. however some 30fps games are employing motion blur both on screen and per object which helps a lot with the 30fps issues. BUt still need my 60, literally need it. :)
It actually doesn't have much to do with graphics. The PS4 Pro has quite capable graphics hardware, this is why they can run games at high resolutions (albeit fake 4K). Not being able to run the game at 60 fps has more to do with CPU limitations, which is quite astounding since this game doesn't seem to have that much going on in terms of AI and physics. Really goes to show how weak the PS4s CPU is.

Look a those graphics on a 400e box, we have come this far, freaking amazing.
The graphics is so amazing in 4k... In reality the game runs at 1440p with temporal anti aliasing and temporal injection its a 4k buffer injected to the game the results zero aliasing...this is not normal 1440p native resolution that you can get on pc.. ratchet and clank 1440p native is very comparable with the 4k native resolution because of the developers tricks they use.. Sadly only few developers use this kind of tricks ..

it says some of the games on 1080p TVs have HDR support, I didn't think their was 1080p TVs with HDR or is this some sort of tricky that the game gets HDR turned on then is downscaled ot something on a 1080p TV.
Hi digital foundry, would you take a look at why is the PS4 Pro no able to display the proper HDR settings?. RGB HDR is 4;2:2 8bit and YUV420 is 4:2:0 12bit instead of 10bit

It's not checkerboard 4K either it's Insomniac's own development called Temporal Injection. It renders the pixels in a different way.

Man this shows what can be done within limitations, I can't think of another game on pc which looks this close to a pixar movie

Does Xbox One S give better backward compatibility results than the original Xbox One? I know some 360 games had FPS issues (like Dark Souls PTDE), and I don't know if the extra power given to the "S" console has an impact on it.

Though it's interesting to hear about how the ps4pro manages upscaling to 4K and how dramatic HDR is - which you cannot show us atm, so we have to take your word for it - I think you should focus a little bit more in general on what the pro can do for FullHD screen owners, possibly the majority of your viewers. Just like you did with BF1. Aside from that, I'm really happy with what you are doing, keep up the good work!

Great video guys. 1 of the best looking games of this generation now looks even more amazing! Trust me this UA-cam video doesn't do this game any justice. Seeing is believing & the only way you will see how good that 4k image is,is 2 see pro running with the hdr on! a 1080p 60 mode would've also been nice! I'd rather have an HD 1080p 60 with hdr then 4k personally.

RealHeroGuy Not the same hdr. One is photo and one is movie. No hdr screen on iphone, but samsung galaxy phones have it. You can watch netflix in hdr on them to compare.
I can't understand how people can even look at this game. The visuals are so blurry in motion that I literally get ill every time the camera swings around. The PS2 original blows this game away with its pristine 60 fps visuals.

new ratchet and clank ps4 does not exhibit armor upgrades and spaceship upgrades.
three questions still hard to extract without buying the game:
1. Does anything other than weapons get upgraded in this game? Nanotech and HP system?
2. How many hours does storyline take at the least?
3. Any replayability added to the game? Multiplayer, or challenges? Plenty of that is ratchet and clank 3.

It would be really cool if you guys did a frame rate check on Just Cause 3 on the PS4 Pro. It was buggy and terrible on the original PS4, but maybe the new PS4 will show some better results.

I will be honest, using a Sony X800D turning HDR on and off the only thing I see is a subtle difference in brightness when it's off. The HDR does create a more natural looking picture but it's not dramatic by any means. Watching these videos always makes me feel like I'm not enjoying HDR like I should but I know I'm doing everything right. The biggest difference in fidelity in a game for me is infamous. That I can clearly see an oversaturated picture with HDR off and it looks so nice turned on. The majority of videos I see for R&C have an oversaturated color which isn't what HDR is meant for. If I turn my color settings up I can match the picture but I try to keep everything in the middle somewhere.

i can see a big difference. When i first got the game on ps4. i thought it looked good, but not in the level of pc graphics good. I just got my ps4 pro and heard that ratchet and clank was going to be 4k downscaled to 1080p with supersampling on 1080p screens. i installed it on the pro and started it. And it looks way cleaner and no jaggies. A was amazed how good it looks. I never even started to play the game because i thought it looked meh, but now i want to play through the whole game.

no its not. on pro it is downscaled to 1080p from 4k with supersampling. so the game is looking WAY better on a 1080p screen on pro then the original ps4 on a 1080p screen. I just played the game on my ps4 and switched to the pro on the same screen. and it is a BIG difference.

4K is awesome and all, especially for a game that looks half as good as Ratchet and Clank, but will 1080p users be able to play at 60 FPS? I mean i dont have a problem with 30 FPS, but all of the other Ratchet and Clank games run at 60, and id really appreciate being able to play through it again at 60 FPS
A lot of it is due to engine restrictions... they built the engine for the OG PS4 and I'm sure there's a LOT of stuff tied directly to the frame rate of the game. I'm sure after this PS4 Pro upgrade, though, developers will start making their console games a bit more like PC games that can have variable frame rates and be just fine so we can have new generations that can play the old games better.

It's double 1080p. They're using a checkerboard like technique if I understand right. But instead of rendering in a grid like pattern, I think the pattern is rotated or, in their own words jittered, to improve quality. Just think of it like an even better version of checkerboard rendering.

The complaints in the comments are ridiculous. The machine costs 400 dollars. You're not getting 4K anything native of that price. The point of the system is to enhance framreate and resolution only. The Scorpio will be way more expensive than this because it have more power but it won't do native 4K either. There's no need to keep bitching about it
That depends, for similar or a bit more you could build a PC with a RX 470 or 480 gpu and that can do native 4k with many games as long as they are 30fps and you are careful with the graphical settings, Eurogamer themselves did a test with the 480 and found it could run most games at native 4k, again only at 30fps and careful graphical settings, 60fps and ultra settings is a different ballgame altogether.
Please test NBA 2K17. Only title so far claiming Native 4K, 60 FPS and HDR.
Fantastic gameplay but honestly when Insomniac cut back from aiming for 60 FPS in their games it just doesn't feel quite right. Especially with a series where fluid action with over the top weapons is the name of the game.

Every game should utilize this perfect anti-aliasing technique and this kind of motion blur on their games. Ratchet and Clank looks GORGEOUS and is like a CGI movie now. I can not wait for future R&C games that will most likely be 60fps(based on their reason on why R&C remains 30fps) and of course the new Spiderman game.

Like in most games that are already 1080p on og ps4, difference is almost non existant, only games that are subnative 1080p on og ps4 present decent visual upgrade on 1080p tv (bf1,tf2,paragon,ff15 and such).
6utS FFXV is one of the main reasons I've bought a Pro as it doesn't rub great run on base PS4.
Also I couldn't turn down the Pro at the price I paid and I have a PSVR which from what I'm hearing the Pro improves.
6utS i would say I'm rich, I got offered a Pro for £260 and I thought at that price I thought I would have especially for VR and the improvements in something like FFXV which I'll be playing for hundred of hours.
Yeah by the PS5 comes around and isn't still based on the PS4, I hope we see native 4K 60fps from every game for those want that.

I think that games that came before the PS4 Pro(definitely not exclusive games) will have some problem. Think ppl will have to wait for developers to make patches for the new hardware. Hopefully future games will be better and more prepared
Anyone else getting horrible download speeds off psn i have a 200mb's download speed and last night 10gb update for dishonored 2 and another update for second son was taking hours. I restart my ps4 pro it starts downloading really fast then gets slug slow after about 5-10min. Hell normally i could do 10gb in 15-20min.

I’d love to be able to take advantage of HDR. My TV supports it, but my setup is such that I simply can’t access cables to swap them around all the time, so my PS4 Pro is running permanently through the PSVR processor box.
I wonder if Sony is eventually going to make an HDR-compatible box for PSVR, preferably as a free replacement. It’s unbelievable that a piece of Sony hardware I bought in October is hindering performance of another piece of Sony hardware bought just one month later. €800 worth of hardware in the space of 2 months, and it doesn't work together.

Is this game exclusive?
Before everyone complains about the "no 60fps", there is a reason for it. The game was made to run on 30fps from the ground up. If the fps was 60 the game wouldnt work properly. Jumping, shooting etc was made for 30fps not 60, if the game was 60fps they (as in Insomniac) they would have to remake almost the whole game.

in later levels there are clear frame rate dips when there is heavy action on screen on Pro whilst the original ps4 maintains locked 30. looks like a dips into the low 20's to me on Pro. shame really. looks amazing.
