Hey, great to see this and thanks to Matthew (below) for making the suggestion. This is June Millington, the guitar player, and that was taped on French tv (in Paris) somewhere in probably '72. And, it's the B side of an Ike and Tina Turner single. So far as I know, no one else has ever covered it, and we poured ourselves into the re-arrangement (we also did it on the Tonight Show). Glad you enjoyed! j
It's too bad the sound is so bad on this video.
These women are phenomenal. It's a travesty they weren't ever given the accolades they deserved.
Fanny is the first all female band to sign with a major record label. I can’t get enough of them, since I first heard them a few months ago. They were started by sisters June (Guitar) and Jean (Bass) Millington Alice De Buhr (Drums) and Nickey Barclay ( Keyboards)
I'm not sure if he realizes this footage of Fanny was from a French TV show recorded in what....1971 or '72? Thanks for sharing with me Matthew. This was cool!!! Alice
@@alicedebuhr6457 There was something about the way you gals performed that time, it just hit me that this was the video i think Tim would like ., you two should jam together , it would be awesome !
@@lepantoslim7058 Right, and thanks Matthew! (I commented above). It strikes me that this is tip-top r&r as people were doing at the time, as good as any other performance done by anyone else that I ever saw (except for Hendrix:)) Finally, I can say that "out loud"! It's taken me almost 40 years to give the band that kind of credit. xx
@@JuneEsWorld you guys were fire in the groove. You all did something to a song that gave it magic
@@JuneEsWorld June, you guys weren't just "as good as anybody else", you were better than many. Plus, I must say, you on that Les Paul and a wah pedal burning up the fretboard just gives me goosebumps! That's some really killer hard rock licks you're throwing down there!! Just wow! Love and best wishes.
Whoever managed this band was a idiot to the core. He had absolutely gold in his hands and pissed it away. These ladies put any pop girls bands to shame and it a shame that this band didn't go nationwide. All the rockers out there, well we were cheated out of getting to see them live. I can only imagine. FANNY ROCKS 🤘🤘
Jean, June, Nicky and Alice ... MOST Excellent!
I first discovered Fanny about 6 months ago. What happened to them was a travesty. They were hard rockin' blues musicians in the early 1970s. They didn't receive their due only because they were 4 women. They released 5 albums!!!
Band-Maid are cool, yes, but without these pioneers and groups like the Go-Gos and The Bangles, where would they be??
PLEASE tell all your friends to check out Fanny on UA-cam and let's spread the word!!! Ty! 💜💜💜💜
Thanks for giving us the props, Justine! (p.s. never thought of us as a blues band, if you listen to all the albums there was quite a variety ... but we could definitely pump the blues style. All hail the roots of that style!).
You've been Fannified!!!
Great to have discovered (1) Fanny and (2) your reaction. To find out they're practically unknown is like glimpsing a stadium band from another reality.
If I were in a band I wouldn't want to follow this act. All of these ladies feed off each other and I could listen to them all the time.
Cool song, my first time hearing them. They all were great players loved it
Of course you love that guitar work... Jun's shredding a 56 Les Paul.
Their was RACHEL RACHEL they made 2 albums, they even did the song CARRY ON WAYWARD SON
Drummer is great
I'm with you in that I never would have otherwise heard this -- and inthat I'm glad I did😁
Love Fanny! 1970 thru 1973 !!!
If you like this, try their song "Blind Alley". Watch Alice's drumming. Wow! Just Wow.
I love Alice’s drumming
Thanks, Harold! Appreciate it! ~ Alice
@@lepantoslim7058 Again, Matthew....THANK YOU!!
@@alicedebuhr6457 Fanny Forever !
@@alicedebuhr6457 I'm a big long time Rush fan and that's why I was listening to this channel. I discovered Fanny about a year ago on UA-cam and have become a die hard fan. I've gone through the bands catalogue and watched a bunch of documentaries, including your recent interview (obsessiveness can work in your favour if directed for good :)). The thing that caught my eye was your drumming on that song. It really shows a high skill set and ability. Thanks so much for the music!
Me2, mr.
Fairly recently, Beat Club posted another recording of the same song. Much better video quality and sound.
But the music (from a gui-tar point of view) is superior on this one. I will grant you the organ is captured better on this: ua-cam.com/video/N4l6FU74pUY/v-deo.html
@@thirdbase6870 Either is better than the studio version.
Fanny Rocked!!!! I picked up a bunch of their albums on their official site. David Bowie: “They were one of the finest fucking rock bands of their time,” David Bowie told Rolling Stone of Fanny in 1999. “They were extraordinary: They wrote everything, they played like motherfuckers, they were just colossal and wonderful, and nobody’s ever mentioned them. They’re as important as anybody else who’s ever been, ever; it just wasn’t their time.”

White Bird" by It's A Beautiful Day
Right. Dynamics is one of Fanny's strong points.
Waiting to see your reaction to the 2 new Band-Maid videos released recently, Manners and Warning! Can't wait to see your reaction.
They kill it. More. Blind Alley next stop with fanny @
You need to watch their beat club performance
The keyboard player in Fanny had the best voice, although they all amazing.
She did a solo album, Diamond in a Junkyard
I think you are the first reaction person to hear this band. I saw them live three times and wish it could have been more.
Been listening to Fanny since the early seventies 🙂
You
This is an Ike and Tina Turner song. Jean is really channeling Tina here.
Fannytastic!
where are you!!!!!
what really should have becone a norm already back then... women bands playing their instruments but sadly not... record labels never did like that idea and they propably still really don't...
Well, I will say Reprise was totally behind us. (and it wasn't just record labels, it was society). Thanks. June (guitarist)
