- Steve Perry of Journey, interviewed by Lisa Robinson, promoting his then new solo album 'Street Talk'. Part one of two parts.
I created this slideshow, edited the audio and uploaded it but look for it on 'beerxpress' and others channels in a week or two when they get around to copying this video too.
Steve Perry versus Arnel arguments will be deleted immediately and the posters blocked.
I'm so proud of him for being so damn real......no one ever in the limelight, being a big star and all would admit they were on welfare to eat, he is so pure and honest....I use him as an example with my parents I work with, simply as in setting goals can be anything they wish if they are willing to work and have faith.....thank you steve for being a real guy and never forgetting where your dreams came from
He is real true and honest
Steve, you are amazing. You deserve all the success you have achieved. You said your voice is a little different. I agree with that. You and your voice are still amazing. Your heart is a big part of why you are loved.
Love You Steve!! Thank God you didn't give up seeking an amazing singing career. What a Blessing to yourself, but to the World!!!
Steve is so down to earth. Love the voice, it's so sexy. And the laugh 💖. Glad you're back with the Traces cds. Still looking handsome at your age, 72. 💏
Amen to all that!
Still a handsome man!!
The interviewer asked great questions and this interview shows Steve Perry's high intellect. Thanks for posting!
❤SOUNDS SO HUMBLE.
Steve you have a beautiful voice, you are a very good looking man,and the way you always handled yourself makes you even more good looking.take care
This man is so talented.. I wish he'd come back and sing for us again.
I miss these guys. But I especially miss Steve Perry. Hearing his voice again, whatever shape it may be in, would be wonderful. Too bad I was too young to have seen these guys in concert, that would have been something...
One Hell of a gentleman.
Steve Perry. Heartthrob!
he still so amazing and incredibly talented. He’s the whole package! Talent, looks everything!
It makes me cry to hear the original ballads the beautiful harmonies and I miss you Steve Perry your warm and appealing voice. I saw Steve Augeri in Concert and he sang well but... I wanted to give him a chance His voice did not have the same effect, the emotional grip on the heart. Be well and be happy
Steves voice I has perfection. He brought Journey. To life. No one could ever take his I don't care who sings with Journey it's Journey without him. Besides being sexy and just everything about him. He's very intelligent and soft spoken and has so much ]talent that no one No one can take his place. Not Ariel or any one else for that mattet.
His voice is so smooth and rich. ❤️
First time I heard you sing I became an instant Journey and Steve Perry fan. Your voice is angelic
Cute cute and that laugh ❤️ I loved journey and his vocals , just unreal his range. Girl Crush 😍
Steve really is super able to communicate with such precision- love his personality as well as his awesome VOICE and looks/ I used to be told I looked like him back when I wore layers in the ‘80s LOL / I would be s thrilled to meet him man!! 🤩💟🙌
Music has always been in his life even in the hard time it took him to His safe place he was good in journey but he's really good by himself as well very well. Thank you ❤️.
His laugh just gets me... soo cute!
Oh, yes, I LOVE his laugh! Have you seen the interview where he talks about baseball? I guess some of the band was playing against some other team, but Steve wasn't. He said he wasn't a very good baseball player. It's so cute/funny! He's always so down-to-Earth and humble.
@@goosewhisperer6275 Yes! It's another clip of Steve showing how adorable he is! He's asked why he isn't out there playing and he says, "Oh trust me, you wouldn't want me out there playing, not if we want to win" and then giggles (something like that). Dontcha just wanna grab him!
@@kimm.1709 Yes, it IS another clip of Steve showing how adorable he is! That giggle gets me every time. :)
Great interview done many years ago. What a smart humble man.
I agree. Never heard this one before. One of his better interviews with some smart questions. It’s interesting knowing, after the fact, what was going through his head with his thoughts and direction of journey Thanks for posting
Wow this is a very honest & real inerview.
Great soulful voice that reaches your inner core, beautiful face, hair, and body but very humble, intelligent and well spoken which are the most sexiest things about Steve Perry! 🤗🤗🥰🥰😍😍
loved this interview
He,s very Humble
At 58 right in the middle of 70's I miss the music and the people. Good times , today everything sucks
Thank you for sharing this! I really enjoyed hearing him speak.
Wish I was the interviewer! You go, Steve! You da man, with the plan! You went solo & did well! I wish the best for you, & a new upcoming CD, I hear? I'll be in line at my fave music store!!! =)
Love Steve Perry.
Que espectacular escuchar la entrevista de Steve Perry ♥ absolutamente un talento imnato perfecto la voz más hermosa del mundo excelente artista
Thank you for these & thank you VeriSheri for sharing !!! Love it !!!
He's so Hot in every way🎆🔥😍
Thanks for sharing! Journey forever
I have to agree - Steve is one of the finest singers of all time! Others that, in my opinion come to mind are (were) Brad Delp from Boston and Jami Jamison from Survivor - all 3 have voices that are not very easily matched!
You guys had what I used to call"" the true" talent and you can always tell watching true talent in concerts, the band" Heart" too they sound on stage even ZZtop sounds awesome but true gifts.
All the 'Good Music' is playing (Thankfully) on UA-cam. Today's stuff, is just that...'Stuff.'
#lovingstevieperry❤
“Oh no…not going to get me on that one”, haha. Such a hot, talented package!
Luv ya baby you rock still 🤩❤️💋
A talking voice that is audible, not mumbling.
Yes, he's very clear in what he's saying and how he's saying it! I could listen to him sing AND talk FOREVER!
Awesome
The group who won the Grammy the year he and Kenny Loggins were nominated...that Steve refused to name...was SURVIVOR (“ EYE OF THE TIGER”) who really were Journey clones!
OMG that's something I never considered. Definitely like Steve , but more commercial. Work out tunes.
Oh, thanks for the info.. I didn't like that song before, and REALLY don't like it now! I don't recall any other "Survivor" songs, but the group wasn't really on my radar.
@@goosewhisperer6275 Same!
@@kimm.1709 :)
Thanks for that, Linda! I was just about to Google that info. And Steve's right: Survivor had a song called "The Search is Over" that really sounds like Journey. Wow.
So hot then and now
Come back to Columbus ohio..
STEVIE I ENJOYED THIS INTERVIEW VIDEO. YOU MAKE ME FEEL NOT ALONE THAT I HAD TO HAVE THE SAME TYPE OF PUBLIC HELP FOR FOOD SOME TIME AGO. SO THANKFUL WE LUCKED UP TO MONEY TO NOT NEED THAT ASSISTANCE RIGHT NOW. PRAYING I DON'T HAVE TO GET HELP AGAIN FOR FOOD & STAY WITH MONEY FLOW INSTEAD. SO GLAD YOUR LUCK TURNED AROUND ALSO. ANYTIME I HEAR THE WORD JOURNEY I ONLY THINK OF YOU CAUSE YOUR VOICE IS ALWAYS SO GREAT & AWESOME!!! THE OTHER BAND MEMBERS ARE FANTASTIC WITH THE INSTRUMENTS I THINK! I"LL ALWAYS BE A FAN OF YOU! LOVE YOU, KGM 05/20/2020
I can’t believe that Steve Perry was on food stamps! I guess he is human instead of a mythical god... lol
Yes, he is!! I imagine it's hard to live an image. I guarantee you that he puts his blue jeans on just like we do, One leg at a time baby!!! Which is a quote from the late Great King of Rock n Roll, ELVIS PRESLEY!!!♊😍💋🤟❤
Mr.Perry is Portugese and from humble background. If he used food stamps or welfare and his family needed that I'm glad it was there for them.
I like Steve! He seems so chilled!!!
Hiiii!
Oh you're! How sweet. It's very nice to receive a reply from you and it's very nice meeting you also!💯😊
@steveperryofficial244 Honestly, since 1983. I actually lived in the Bay Area for a long time!!! I am commenting from the East Coast! 👍
@steveperryofficial244Forgive my manners for not saying thank you! Oh you're welcome! 🙂!!!! No. I have never been to any of your shows...I know huh 🤭? It's nice that you are reaching out to your many fans and even take the time, to respond to our texts...😺!
@steveperryofficial244🙂
I closed my eyes to wholly hear and absorb the unique tones and depth of his art-as all-encompassing to me as when I gazed from the view of Monet's Japanese bridge at Giverny above the water lilies and watched the willows dance in the breeze as it ruffled my hair, soaking in the fragrance of the foliage wafting through the air and listened to the birds do their original rendition of song. For those few minutes, everything else in the world disappeared...

The band that Steve Perry mentions was copying them is Survivor with their song Eye of the Tiger. If you go and listen to it, it really does sound a lot like Steve Perry!
I understand him! But then I once sang profesionally! At the same time I was trying to stay in a love relationship, please all my band members, and managers! I get it all! Wut I love about STEVIE is he's as true as he can to himself first then those close and intwined! To have gone as far and long as he has it to a whole lot!! I admire him! He stepped bk 4gd reason and he sabed hmslf 4 doing that! 2me he's da man! Its rough 4 all emtertainers, but an open ,loving, realistic, fam.& oriented lead singer the presure is real! My hat goes off to hom!! He took his chances,he pay'd the price,he survived and evrybdy gained fans alike because of his choices! Oh,and "I blieve" tripped me out...damned gd wrk!! But being free is being you, doing you where ever you are! I love you Stevie! Your girl,
VELVET
Ps. Thnx 4 surviving, welcome back,"we're still here" and we waited becoz your worth it! Dont 4get 2 do Peo. Il
I promise I am front row seated say the word!"TOUR"!
Loved the context and the artfully panning from & to the crouch 👍🏽
i can't fucking believe Steve didn't think he was a fuckin awsome singer, just, hearing him utter those words made my jaw drop
Tempclanleader he is a very modest person at times...more often than not...at least in public. let others praise you and not yourself. I definitely agree with his stance or response.
I think he's says that too because he is/was a perfectionist which he did say in an interview before, so I'm not making it up.
As a singer myself you're always feeling like you're just not quite there( vocally), you'll have moments where you'll like the way you sing a certain part of a song and it sounds the way you heard it in your head but it's never usually the whole songs that you like. In the past, when I would listen to the playback of me singing it was like listening to my voicemail recording, so just imagine that 😄. Overtime though I've been able to get past it, especially since I want to improve my voice, so I need to hear what areas need improvement, but If I hear my recordings for long periods of time it starts to become a bit annoying.
I don't even get me started on live performing, that's the time when you really pick apart every single thing you did.
Before Steve teamed up with Neal Schon he had been so disappointed by the lack of oppourtunities that he told his mom he was going to give up on the hopes of a musical career. She encouraged him to keep his dream alive...and shortly after got the call from Journey's manager.
Because he is humble
Modesty
Well well said.....your so right!!!
I luv his way's of never kicking his frnd's etc.yet not allowing n e 1 mAk a fool out of hm! I jst lv u baby,Stevie wevie! Ur grl,VELVET ANGEL
Got a crush much?
Oh, THANKS for this!! Never heard it before. Cute, sexy pics, too!
DO YOU KNOW: I've seen the photo at #3:10-3:15, Steve sitting in a desert with a jacket on, facing the camera---do you know where I can get a print of that one??? I have several hundred, but not that one! Thanks! Jan
Jan Odegaard い
Amen
Simply put,the most beautiful, arousing, attention demanding admiring... man I've ever known in this green eyed sisters sight...etc.!! VELVET ANGEL
One thing about this band no drugs involved
Steve has alluded to drug use, seems pretty normal for the time
What bands were copying the Journey sound???
i'd love to know which songs he's done that he doesn't like to listen to.
I wonder if Oh Sherry is one of the songs he doesn't like to listen to.
@@steeliejan7929 it could be it's one of my favorites. But I,m sure it can bring back some not so good momories. She,s even in the video. I heard that she cheated on him
Who in the world would ever cheat on Steve Perry. I know I would, not I love this guy. Forever his fan 2020 in Cleveland Ohio.
Who IS THIS INTERVIEWER?!? She's TERRIBLE!!! At least, here he is truthful about his voice that it is different.
Sometimes (often) an interviewer can ask the dumbest questions - Are you sick of Journey! Like he'd say it if he was.
Who was Steve referring to as bands/performers that would copy his/Journey’s style? Because the winner of the 1982 Grammy in that category was “Up Where We Belong” by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes. Is this who he was referring to?
he was talking about Survivor
@@micahmetzker3620 was there a specific song?
@@katiejon17 it's Eye Of The Tiger, i've read in the comments
@@micahmetzker3620 really?! I don’t think that sounds like Journey at all! I suppose those with a really good ear for music can pick details up that are beyond me!
@@katiejon17 i don't think the comments here meant survivor was imitating journey just the way steve sang, especially when the singer goes very high and it makes sense to me
What's with the interviewer, her leading questions and snarky tone. It's like she's trying to put Steve in a defensive position. It's that Barbara Walters dramatic style I can't stand. Just talk to him, like a normal conversation!
At the end of the interview, Steve is referring to Dave Bickler (Bud Light Real Men of Genius ads) of Survivor, who beat out Steve and KL for the 1983 Grammy. Eye of the Tiger was so huge from Rocky III that there was no way in hell Don't Fight It could win against it. Bickler was an outstanding tenor in his own right. Sounds like a little bit of sour grapes to me, Steve. lol
Is this Barbra Walters?
Marla The 80's girl thats what I thought! Sounds like a young Barbara Walters for sure
rona barrett?
You can read the description, her name is Lisa Robinson 😅
That doesn't sound like him
