Amazon Detector Final Review - Metal Detecting Gear Review

  • A Chinese Amazon company reached out to me and asked me to review their metal detector. I released an unboxing and first look video about one month ago, and it seemed to be a decent little starter machine.
But in this video, I put it to the test. I took it to a beach volleyball court and buried several items just under the surface of the sand, and I tested the detector to see how well it would find the items. My results are as follows:
Don't waste your money on Chinese knock-off metal detectors. Find you a leading brand detector, spend the extra money, and you won't be disappointed.

I agree with you on this one Stephen. I'd definitely go with the Simplex any day!

Interesting little detector...but I think I'd spend a little more and get the Simplex. Nice review, Stephen!💖

Looks a lot like the minelab go find they made a few years ago. I had one but didn't like the display. That thing looks a little better, but the Chinese stuff is definitely getting better. Great video! Found some coins you didn't throw out, so it started paying for itself!

A lot of detectorists just don’t get it, the simplex is just as capable if not more than much higher priced detectors, 12khz with fast recovery speed, different modes and sensitivity settings?..Learn and understand the simplex, let it continue to prove itself as one of the best metal detectors ever made, the best ever near it’s price range!

      YES!!! This is SO true.

I agree..I'm still learning my simplex and after many hrs I can tell usually what I'm hitting..it's all about learning your machine.

The thing that was really cool about this detector is how it folded down. Space saving. Now if Nokta Makro could come up with a detector that would fold like that, that would be something.

I agree. It’s pretty neat. This company copied the Minelab Go-Find, because it breaks down just the same way.

I’ve got a fisher f44 and a Garrett AT Max.
I had to choose between the AT Max, and the simplex the last time. I love my Garrett, but my next detector will be the simplex.

Or if you want to get a good detector for the price I would say go for a Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 as it is $50 dollars less. and it has a great recovery speed. May not have Vdi or all the bells and whistles as some of beginners Detectors do. But I know it is a heck of a detector for the money. And I agree with you this Cheap Detector you did the review on From what I seen should be taking off the Market. Save your money and time and get one that you see a good review..

Great vid, new sub now. Same experience here, made a little video on it. Will say 150 is a lot less than 250 to start a hobby, but the challenges using it without your knowledge about coil sensitivity and such kinda killed the joy first time out. Beep Beep Beep stuck on random numbers ect... may check out a simplex next on your advice. Cheers!

Oddly enough i bought that exact same detector with UPGRADED DSP CHIP to test it out and it found silver pendent 925 about 1 half inch deep, shoot gun shell dated around 1915-1927 3 inches deep, bobby pin little over 2 inches deep, few nails ,hairpins very bottle & pull tabs 4-6 inches deep, 1970s toy car 2 inches deep and bunch of other stuff even deeper with fast recovery speed. Maybe i just got lucky got good one?

Maybe so. Or I got the lemon for testing. Good luck out there with it.

Recently got a simplex and I decided to test it out by digging a plug and putting a silver quarter in the ground in my yard..got a phone call and forgot where I buried it..lol..it was a nice plug..spent about an hr and keep finding penny's and old nails then the next day found it 74 vdi on the simplex..

I just watched your video of diving with the Nokta Makro Legend I was really impressed with how the Legend performed in the water. I currently have the equinox 600 and it flooded out on me once already so I am looking to get another detector and seriously considering getting the Legend.

It’s built solid and waterproof 100%. If you ever upgrade, I say do it. If you decide to buy one, and you buy through Kellyco, use that link and discount code and save you a little $$.

I don’t think I’ll be buying that detector, I like a sensitive detector but that one seems too sensitive. I’ll stick with my Simplex. I enjoy the review videos, they help me decide what I might want or not want to get next 👍

You should do a video with the Amazon detector and your son's detector just to show which better that way anyone wanting to get a detector for their child they would know which is better for their money !

The metal detector market is saturated for sure. Some can be bought for around £100 and they do the job fairly well. Prices will continue to fall over the next few years even on the better machines.
