I just went through app list. Most are very basic, like lists, water reminders that are mostly stand alone. I did not see any that add significantly to the experience. Also, I previously downloaded one that almost locked my watch... Good news is that most are free. I will keep checking then and if a really beneficial app gets added, I will include it in a video. Recently, I have had medical issues, and was wondering if you know if the watch has emergency SOS notifications like the Apple Watch, where you can call emergency services and text individuals when a fall incident occurs. I can't seem to find anything in the settings that allows me to setup emergency contacts. I love the watch and battery life. But may have to switch to an Apple watch for this feature.
Sorry to hear. There is no fall detection or SOS feature with any Amazfit watches (as far as I know). The only thing you can do is add a "top contact" which could be a few of your emergency contacts. In the Zepp app click on your watch in the profile page of app. Then click on the phone app, then at bottom will be the top contacts, click add. If you dont have the money or dont want to spend it on an Apple watch, you can check out the new Samsung Fit 3 that I am reviewing now. It has fall detection and an SOS feature and it is only $69. It is a really nice watch and just got software update so now you can respond to texts much better. I just checked, selling for $150 on Amazon, really great deal! Original retail was $229!
Amazfit calls these shortcut cards, they are different from true widgets on other watches. You can customize these on the watch or in the Zepp app. easiest to explain here is to swipe and open the shortcut cards then scroll all the way to the bottom. click the gear like icon. now just hit minus on any you want to delete. hit plus on any you want to add. you can also move them up and down by touching and holding a card, then slide the card to wherever you want. Great review sir. I used to have the T-Rex Pro and I didn't like it. It was too thick and I found also that it would count steps while moving my arm and not actually walking (lets say washing dishes for example). Do you find this one is more accurate? Also, how is the vibrate option on it. Strong enough to wake you up in the morning? Thank you!
I found the Amazfit balance to be accurate. I tested it against the Samsung watch 5 pro and watch 6 classic. It's hard to say but I think the vibration motor will be enough to wake you. You can change the intensity but also you can make a customized pattern that can give a long vibration or many vibrations for the alarm.

Actually no. I could not find a way to change font size on watch, crazy right? If you want to change font size on app, here you go. Go to profile portion of Zepp app. Scroll to bottom, clock settings and font size. If anyone can change font size on watch, update it here.
Brilliant video, I was wondering if you know a way to skip forward audio that is playing on the watch at all? Currently only able to skip to next track, which is fine for music, but frustrating for long podcasts.
Yes, you can only skip tracks. It seems it would be easy to add a press and hold feature to fast forward but it is not available now. Sorry, I dont have a work around. Thanks for the kind words!

The silver bezel around the screen, is it part of the watch body or is it actually part of the screen and made from the screen glass? also, if using an iPhone, are the text messages available from all apps, like Facebook messenger, watsapp, iMessage etc... You had me at, "I have been watching your Amazfit Balance videos"... anyway, no the silver bezel is not under the glass, part of the body. I have not tested the Balance with the iphone but it should work like android phones. Which is- you will get notifications from all these apps that you can toggle on and off. But since you can not download these apps to the watch, you do not get any app functionality. Thanks for watching!

Yes you can. Once you start exercise then swipe up to get to more, click that and scroll to bottom. But you have to pair device to watch. That is in settings under Bluetooth, scroll to bottom, "workout accessory". How's that helps! Thanks for watching!

does it have a lot of free watch face? just got gtr 3 pro and it didnt have a lot of good watches unlike 1st gen GTR47mm. i immediately returned it due to its screen blurry than 1st gen GTR. i kinda want to buy balance its the biggest screen and sharpest screen.
I think the Balance is the best Amazfit right now. Screen is great. Amazfit says they have more than 200 watch faces. Last time I checked, about half of them are free, the others 1-3 dollars.
Great helpful review .When phone's screen is turned off .i can't control music with my watch .i tried it with a lot of different music players ...Secondly it has a very low speaker volume during calls ... I don't know maybe my watch has this problem ...can you help me out please 🙂
I have a few tips. when the screen is off, you can not control the music with the watch. If you are trying to control the music during a workout you can have the screen stay on during workout and then just swipe over to the music controller. To enable this, on the watch, in settings, display, scroll to the bottom, toggle "wake during workout" on. For the phone, there are no settings you can change the voice volume unless you are on a phone call. once you get a call there is a volume icon in the middle, click on that and then you are able to adjust the volume and that should be your new default. Alexa won’t control functions on your iPhone. It can be used to answer questions and to play Amazon music and media to you, but it isn’t a replacement for Siri and iPhone shortcuts, as far as I understand.
if you read it on watch, still shows up as unread on phone. remember no images in text and no keyboard to type a response, only preset quick responses.

I do get an "Amazfit balance disconnected" but it is usually too delayed to be useful for your purpose- something to give you an immediate alert when the phone and watch are separated. I actually love that feature but it is not available on the balance. Thanks for the kind comment! 😊
Actually the Watch 5 pro is probably my favorite Samsung watch but when I am not testing new watches I prefer to Balance. Battery life is a hugh feature for me. Only concern for the Balance is the screen, so I have a protector on it. But short answer- the Balance.

I've set up zepp flow on the bottom button, I've got notification from messenger, pressing button now or after clicking reply gives the same results, if I speak my reply immediately (in polish), it says "sorry, this function doesn't work now". If I say "voice reply", it says "what would you like to say?", it often mistakes the language and then says it's impossible to send the message.

I could not confirm that this feature is supported in Poland, so if above doesn't work its possible it is not supported in Poland. I am not sure what you are referring to... But the Amazfit Balance does not have a rotating bezel (like Samsung watch 6 classic) but it does have rotating crown, the top button. It works perfectly!
If you are getting whatsapp messages on your phone AND you are getting all other notifications on your watch, there is only one thing I can think of. You need to turn on whatsapp notifcations in the Zepp app. In profile part of Zepp app, click on your watch, then "notifications and reminders", then app alerts. All your apps will show at the bottom, _hopefully_ whatsapp was off and when you toggle it on your problem is fixed.
From what i read, Amazfit just started testing the blood pressure monitoring, only available in a few countries. Not sure if it will be rolled out everywhere eventually, but not available in US as of now. It if is available in your country it should be a separate app.
The balance is the successor to the GTR 4. As far as I know, Amazfit is not making a GTR 5. Balance is newer with a few extra features, for only a little more money. I recommend the balance unless you get a great deal on the GTR 4, it is still a great watch.
@deepfish The IP rating is ONLY for freshwater. No watches are recommended for swimming in salt water. It will probably void your warranty and could damage the watch. If you are brave enough to use it in salt water, I would recommend you _gently_ wash or rinse it as soon as you are done.
You skipped over talk to text speech? How does it work? This is one of the only watches that supposedly does this. I would like to have seen that. Thank you for the review!

I've heard that if you set up Zepp flow on the button, you can voice reply with it to the notifications. Gonna check on that in a week when I'll get mine watch.
sorry, I did not review the Huawei Watch GT5. But the Amazfit balance and T Rex 3 are both great. Balance very light with rotating crown, on sale frequently. T rex 3 bulkier, more durable watch and screen but no speaker.
when I press the upper right button, it opens the app view, but its little bit different like there is no list view, but bunch of different apps at once
I have my Amazfit Balance and recently I tested Huawei Watch GT4. Huawei display was so smooth, no laggy whatsoever, certainly 60 fps. Meanwhile mine Amazfit is not that smooth. It gets a bit laggy when I swipe from from watch face to left or right. I don't think there is 60 fps rate on Amazfit Balance. Is my watch faulty?
I dont think that Amazfit lists it's fps but it is likely at least 60 fps, even budget watches have this. I did not notice any stuttering of the software but if you are noticing it, I would think it is likely due to the processor, which is also not listed. if the lags are significant you can try restarting it, if they persist it might be a hardware issue.
I can only say for certain that it is available in US. but this was made available on the Amazfit Balance by a software update a few months after this video was published.

Potom budete mať tri možnosti, „pozastaviť“, „navigácia“ a „dokončiť“. Stlačte navigáciu, prejdite nadol. kliknite na "Nastavenia navigácie". potom stlačte „zobrazenie navigácie“. zmeňte ho zo „sever nahor“ na „postup nahor“. Dúfam, že to je to, čo ste mali na mysli, a dúfam, že to pomôže! 🙂
You have to download from the Zepp app, find maps app. Your location should be already loaded but you can find another one. Click download, then your watch will automatically let you know there are maps available. You have to download these maps using your wifi, so wifi has to be already set up on your watch. Then go to maps app on the watch. GPS will lock and show you where you are, but the maps are basic.
If you were talking about your GPX files, then go to workout section of the Zepp app (along the bottom), then scroll to bottom, under "more" section, click on "my routes". Then you will see all your downloaded GPX files. Hope that helps!

there is no pre installed camera app on the Amazfit Balance. You can add one from the Zepp which directs you to download a new camera app for your phone for $2.49. as of now the app has no reviews. I did not want to add it- something seems off...but if you are more adventurous let me know.
No you cant uninstall Alexa. But you can hide it from your short cuts and you can change it from the default so that when you press and hold the top button something other than Alexa activates. It does not show up in your app list on the watch.

Not that I know of. If you are playing music with spotify on your phone you can control it with the watch but you need the phone.
Where can i found the blood pressure app in the watch?
Great helpful review .When phone's screen is turned off .i can't control music with my watch .i tried it with a lot of different music players ...Secondly it has a very low speaker volume during calls ... I don't know maybe my watch has this problem ...can you help me out please 🙂
I have a few tips. when the screen is off, you can not control the music with the watch. If you are trying to control the music during a workout you can have the screen stay on during workout and then just swipe over to the music controller. To enable this, on the watch, in settings, display, scroll to the bottom, toggle "wake during workout" on.
For the phone, there are no settings you can change the voice volume unless you are on a phone call. once you get a call there is a volume icon in the middle, click on that and then you are able to adjust the volume and that should be your new default.

Sorry I have not tested Alexa with the iPhone.
Alexa won’t control functions on your iPhone. It can be used to answer questions and to play Amazon music and media to you, but it isn’t a replacement for Siri and iPhone shortcuts, as far as I understand.

if you read it on watch, still shows up as unread on phone. remember no images in text and no keyboard to type a response, only preset quick responses.

I do get an "Amazfit balance disconnected" but it is usually too delayed to be useful for your purpose- something to give you an immediate alert when the phone and watch are separated. I actually love that feature but it is not available on the balance.

Actually the Watch 5 pro is probably my favorite Samsung watch but when I am not testing new watches I prefer to Balance. Battery life is a hugh feature for me. Only concern for the Balance is the screen, so I have a protector on it. But short answer- the Balance.

Yes, with zepp flow. But it still needs some refinement.

I've set up zepp flow on the bottom button, I've got notification from messenger, pressing button now or after clicking reply gives the same results, if I speak my reply immediately (in polish), it says "sorry, this function doesn't work now". If I say "voice reply", it says "what would you like to say?", it often mistakes the language and then says it's impossible to send the message.

What was that you tried with "rotating the crown" ? The Amazfit Balance doesn't have a function that allows you to "rotate the crown" does it ?
I am not sure what you are referring to... But the Amazfit Balance does not have a rotating bezel (like Samsung watch 6 classic) but it does have rotating crown, the top button. It works perfectly!

There is no built in camera app. Sorry.
There is an app on the store for use the watch as remote shutter. Need also an app on the phone and it cost 3 euros.
My watch got an issue for Whatsapp notification. The WhatsApp not showing up on my watch. What should I do? I've done all the steps in the video.
If you are getting whatsapp messages on your phone AND you are getting all other notifications on your watch, there is only one thing I can think of. You need to turn on whatsapp notifcations in the Zepp app. In profile part of Zepp app, click on your watch, then "notifications and reminders", then app alerts. All your apps will show at the bottom, _hopefully_ whatsapp was off and when you toggle it on your problem is fixed.

Yes, through Bluetooth. But I am not sure which accessories are supported. Before buying one, confirm with Amazfit that it is supported.

From what i read, Amazfit just started testing the blood pressure monitoring, only available in a few countries. Not sure if it will be rolled out everywhere eventually, but not available in US as of now. It if is available in your country it should be a separate app.

The balance is the successor to the GTR 4. As far as I know, Amazfit is not making a GTR 5. Balance is newer with a few extra features, for only a little more money. I recommend the balance unless you get a great deal on the GTR 4, it is still a great watch.

Not sure what you mean but it is water proof to 5 ATM and IP68 rated.

@deepfish The IP rating is ONLY for freshwater. No watches are recommended for swimming in salt water. It will probably void your warranty and could damage the watch. If you are brave enough to use it in salt water, I would recommend you _gently_ wash or rinse it as soon as you are done.

I've heard that if you set up Zepp flow on the button, you can voice reply with it to the notifications. Gonna check on that in a week when I'll get mine watch.

Amazfit Balance or Huawei Watch GT5?
sorry, I did not review the Huawei Watch GT5. But the Amazfit balance and T Rex 3 are both great. Balance very light with rotating crown, on sale frequently. T rex 3 bulkier, more durable watch and screen but no speaker.
when I press the upper right button, it opens the app view, but its little bit different like there is no list view, but bunch of different apps at once
On the watch, Go to settings, preferences, scroll down to app view. Then you have 2 choices, list or grid. Let me know if that works.
I have my Amazfit Balance and recently I tested Huawei Watch GT4. Huawei display was so smooth, no laggy whatsoever, certainly 60 fps. Meanwhile mine Amazfit is not that smooth. It gets a bit laggy when I swipe from from watch face to left or right. I don't think there is 60 fps rate on Amazfit Balance. Is my watch faulty?
I dont think that Amazfit lists it's fps but it is likely at least 60 fps, even budget watches have this. I did not notice any stuttering of the software but if you are noticing it, I would think it is likely due to the processor, which is also not listed. if the lags are significant you can try restarting it, if they persist it might be a hardware issue.
That sounds like a “you” issue because my watch is as smooth as butter. Maybe your watch is affected or something?

Is Zepp flow only Alvin Europe ?
I can only say for certain that it is available in US. but this was made available on the Amazfit Balance by a software update a few months after this video was published.

Myslím, že viem, o čom hovoríš. Keď začnete cvičiť s mapou na stránke s údajmi, šípky štandardne smerujú nahor. Ale môžete to zmeniť. Potiahnite prstom doprava. Potom budete mať tri možnosti, „pozastaviť“, „navigácia“ a „dokončiť“. Stlačte navigáciu, prejdite nadol. kliknite na "Nastavenia navigácie". potom stlačte „zobrazenie navigácie“. zmeňte ho zo „sever nahor“ na „postup nahor“.

How do you access the maps that are downloaded?
You have to download from the Zepp app, find maps app. Your location should be already loaded but you can find another one. Click download, then your watch will automatically let you know there are maps available. You have to download these maps using your wifi, so wifi has to be already set up on your watch.
Then go to maps app on the watch. GPS will lock and show you where you are, but the maps are basic.
If you were talking about your GPX files, then go to workout section of the Zepp app (along the bottom), then scroll to bottom, under "more" section, click on "my routes". Then you will see all your downloaded GPX files. Hope that helps!

there is no pre installed camera app on the Amazfit Balance. You can add one from the Zepp which directs you to download a new camera app for your phone for $2.49. as of now the app has no reviews. I did not want to add it- something seems off...but if you are more adventurous let me know.
I am in USA and not able to see Zepp pay option where I can add payment/credit cards. Is it just me or anyone else too?

Could uninstall alexa?
No you cant uninstall Alexa. But you can hide it from your short cuts and you can change it from the default so that when you press and hold the top button something other than Alexa activates. It does not show up in your app list on the watch.
