Had a tempstar variable speed a/c and modulating gas furnace installed 4 years ago in the Midwest - no complaints with their performance, and paid $8k less than comparable quotes from trane and rheem.
Installed by a small local company and couldn’t be happier. The system is so quiet I barely notice it’s running walking past the condenser outside.
The only thing i will say is that the handler/furnace chassis is noticeably cheap when it comes to fit and finish, but again the savings are hard to argue with when it comes to what matters most.

I like that the camera guy actually has the other guy dive deeper into the products. The guy that’s going through the motions is saying what it is but seems kinda in a hurry to go through the process almost like a salesman that doesn’t want you asking questions and just sign on the dotted line not knowing what you got yourself into which can make customer service a bad situation for them when issues occurs cause someone is just concerned about the bottom dollar.

I JUST HAD A TEMP STAR INSTALLED, 5 TON 14 SEER AND 120000 BTU FURNACE FOR UNDER 6K INSTALLED. REPALCED MY OLD TRANN SYSTEM THAT WOULD OF BEEN 12K IN STALLED... AND I WILL SAY THE TEMP STAR IS A GREAT SYSTEM...

Even asian market has 10 times better quality AC units than US market. I cannot believe those products are allowed to pass inspection and to be sold to the consumers. The cleaning access to the evaporator is terrible, the whole cabinet is poor quality, the pan design where the water/condensation is poor. I have no idea where they get those engineers for designing such product and allowed them on the market. ALL AC units sold in usa, Trans Rheem Carrier Daikin Goodman you name it York are 80's technology! poor design! now days with lower quality materials!! sold at a price cost of almost all appliances in your house added together, fridge, stove, washer, dishwasher, dryer, microwave and a decent gaming PC. It is absurd. Government should not allow the AC mafia industry abuse the citizens with such low quality products. The coil can be pulled out for cleaning? Did you ever looked at cabinet when a technician needs to pull out the evaporator? It's a shame.

great info, best video series on UA-cam. Can you compare or comment what would be the best value. I have a rental property and don't need high seer. I assume Day and Night and TempStar are the same? Can you comment on copper vs aluminum coil tubes etc. Will aluminum leak less?

Any brand from ICP is good deal for the money including GrandAire. I wouldn't think that copper coil is a deal killer. It works just as good as aluminum however, aluminum coils don't oxidize where the copper tubes are in contact with aluminum fins due to dissimilar metals. This oxidization will result in lower and lower thermal conductivity over time, (usually years) meaning, the copper coil will run on higher pressure due to more heat. There are other various reasons also and and one can write a book about aluminum vs copper, but in short, aluminum coils work better.
