  • The one lens that I constantly go back to when my photography feels stale is my fisheye. I have been using a Rokinon 8mm fisheye on my Nikon D750 for years. Now I can add the 7 Artisans 7.5mm fisheye to my Canon M50 lens collection. Sharp, well built and super fun to use, I think every photographer should have a lens like this in their bag!

    Hello! I recently bought this lens for the Sony a6000 and I am experiencing a phenomenon that I do not know if it is normal, namely the vignetting at closed apertures. At f8-f11 the corners of the image are black, to get rid of them I have to crop. Does your lens behave the same ?! Or did I buy a hard copy ?! Thank you!

    • @BillEricPhotography
      @BillEricPhotography  2 роки тому

      I didn't have that issue with this lens. Mine was a Canon version, maybe the Sony version is a little bit different. Or it might have something to do with the settings on the camera.

    just bought a fish eye, because I'm in a rutt with my hobby "Photography", when I was young and skint my photography was much better, know I can buy what ever lens/camera I like, just bought the 18mm F1.4 and 33 F1.4 from fuji and I have had them a month and not took a single photo with them, so I'm looking forward to having a bit of fun with this new fish eye,, great video, just Subscribed

    What aperture keeps everything in focus ? On this lens

    • @BillEricPhotography
      @BillEricPhotography  Місяць тому

      Doesn't really matter when it's this wide. For a fish islands like this your aperture is really just and adjustment for light. But if you want to make sure everything is sharp you can set it to f9. You really don't need to though if you need more light in a dark situation. Everything will be in focus at all apertures.

    What do you prefer between the Rokinon 8mm and this 7Artisan 7.5mm? Overall image quality, distortion, etc.? I'm currently planning to buy my first fish eye lens. Very nice video. Thank you.

      I think it depends on what camera you are using. If it's an M50 then the 7Artisans. If it's a DSLR the Rokinon. Both will give you a similar image.

    Lots of fun and inspiration. Followed your link to this lens on Amazon. Received it the morning of Friday the 13th. It's been on my M50 ever since as I bicycle around town rediscovering the Philly landscape.

      Thanks, Rokinon makes a 12 mm fisheye that is made for full frame cameras. I believe there is a canon version. I don't know if there R specific are lenses that are available as fish eyes yet.

    this was a really delightful and inspiring video. it's the only video I've watched I can remember that emphasises that great photography comes as a result of enjoying and loving the experience of photography. All this time I was wondering about technical elements of the 7artisans fisheye but you brought it to an emotional and joyous level to consider. thank you!

    I had been ermming and ahhing about this lens for my Canon M3, I have used the Samyang 14mm on another camera and not worried about manual focussing
    I wanted something inexpensive, but wanting be do something different. Your enthusiasm for the lens has certainly tempted me.

    Do you prefer the Rokinon 8mm instead of a 12mm on your D750? The 8mm is a little cheaper. Could the 8mm be used in FX on the D750 or only DX?

    • @BillEricPhotography
      @BillEricPhotography  4 роки тому +1

      I actually like the 8 mm because it's a little more distorted. I've heard nothing but good things about the 12mm though. if you use it in DX mode the images will look like a standard fisheye lens if you use it in full frame mode you will have a circle with black borders around it which might look cool sometimes. I typically use it in DX mode though.

    how do you get sharp images? i have the sony a6400 and do i set it on 5.6 or more? especially at night

    • @BillEricPhotography
      @BillEricPhotography  3 роки тому

      Your shutter speed is what's going to meet the images sharp. So a good rule of thumb is to make sure your shutter speed is at least double your focal length. Except if you're on a tripod then you need to make sure the camera stays perfectly still.

    • @kickoverthestatues
      @kickoverthestatues Рік тому

      What is going to make your shots super sharp is to find the ideal f stop for the lens.

    Hi Bud, May I know how you manage to do the sharp manual focus quickly when you make a selfie? Do you do the manual focus by looking at the screen first while hands extended out?Usually I have problem under the bright sun.

    • @BillEricPhotography
      @BillEricPhotography  4 роки тому +1

      The fisheye is so wide that you don't have to focus it as long as you set the focus at about 2 ft before you even start shooting everything you take a picture of will be sharp. At that wider of a focal length there is almost no depth of field.

    Hello, how can I avoid the distortion? Like it would look straight rather than bending

    • @BillEricPhotography
      @BillEricPhotography  3 роки тому +1

      The lens has to be perfectly level but the distortion is the fun part about owning this lens. I think the point of a fisheye is to distort the world. If you want a more level look you're probably better off just getting a wide-angle lens something in the 11 to 16 mm range on a crop sensor

    • @khobautista456
      @khobautista456 3 роки тому +1

      @@BillEricPhotography I am planning for a 12 mm wide angle lens but since m50 is an APSC sensor camera with 1.6x crop factor this lens is 12mm equivalent so I’m really stuck. Thank you for response.

    • @BillEricPhotography

      There's always a little bit of vignetting with wide-angle lenses. But it's easily correctable when you are editing with your software.

    Very inspiring and beautiful images. I have a Canon M50 and a Panasonic camera and I love them both. I would like to buy this 7.5 mm lens that will only work on my Canon M 50. But if I buy the Rokinon 8 mm lens EFS amount will work on both cameras with adapters (I already have adaptors for both). Could you please tell me, because I know you have both lenses what is the difference in the field of view between the 7.5 and 8mm lenses? Which of the two lenses would you recommend me? Thank you very much.

    • @BillEricPhotography
