I'm a house painter and used tape before to hold little glass projects before... However, I said to myself "I wish I could use the tape to prevent the solder from falling through the edges"... Thanks, for showing how to do good looking solder edges!
I tried making a box with a hinged lid, but the foil keeps pulling off. Do you have any tips? I will keep rewatching the video because I'm sure I must have missed something.
The hinge in this video has two parts- the tubing, and the wire that goes inside. Make sure the tubing is attached to an edge with some break lines. The tubing will pull the foil right off a lid edge that has no break lines there to help reinforce it. Does that help?
This is an intermediate project, for sure, but worth trying! You can do it! if it gets too difficult, switch to a simpler project, and come back to this one later. Good luck!
Absolutely! I've just only found brass tubes of my preferred size- 3/32" The copper tubes I've found are slightly larger. Also, brass is slightly more sturdy than copper, but copper 'matches' better.
Absolutely mesmerising. I could (and probably will) watch this over and over thank you for sharing
Thank you very much for watching!
Dito!!

could a person tin the brass tubing beforehand, so the entire hinge is covered in solder?
Yes, absolutely!

@@LadyBerz I have two break lines in my top, do you think that will be enough? And and thank you so much for responding!
been looking for this video for a while! your box soldering video helped me too! (why did I pick such a project as my first one?)

Glad you like it! Thanks for watching!
What gauge wire are you using for hinge?
I use 18 gauge with this particular tubing, which I believe is 3/32" Thanks for watching!
Very very helpful!
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!
can a copper tube be used? Is there a special reason for brass? Thank you!!!

why you do not use hARD FOAM GUABARY
What is that? Never heard of it!
FYI it may have been a little easier if you had the pattern under the work to get the angles all perfect without futzing
Just a thought
you are totally not wrong.... :-)
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!
Happy to help! Thanks for watching!
This music makes me insane
But thanks for the tutorial!❤
Sorry about that. I just tell people to turn down the volume… I should have chosen more chill background music.
@@LadyBerz don't worry at all, the tutorial is awesome and this is the main point 😄
