I “adopted” a 5 yr old BP recently and as a first time snake owner I’ve spent the last month worried about everything the whole time so far. After weeks of worries about poop and shed and her attitude change and and and- and you explained literally every issue I was worried about in the first 5 minutes. My gosh. In the time I went to work and came home she went to the bathroom, shed, came out of her hide and was a sweetheart again. Why oh why didn’t I watch this video instead of hours of Reddit.
I sooooo love your southern accent and you are just adorable. You are also soooo knowledgeable so I had to subscribed. Thanks for sharing what you know with us.
Your videos are so helpful! First time bp owner. First one last Saturday seems to be going good. Today adopted a big boy and not going as good ! He's in full shed ! Pooped in his new tank ten mins after putting him in ! He won't go in his hide !
My ball python is the sweetest ever. I wanted to check if she’s alright (I didn’t know that she was in shed before I checked!) and she was completely chill even tho she was blind :)! I fed her a week before she went blind and she still didn’t poop. I guess she‘ll do it after her shed. My corn snakes did that as well.
Thank you! My ball python is failing hard at her shed this cycle! She has plenty of rough surfaces throughout her enclosure, but is insisting on staying in her hot hide which is totally smooth on the inside 🙄
1. How often do they shed? 2. How long does it take from first sign until shed? P.S. just found this channel, subscribed and binging! Such good information!
You always do great videos with a lot of helpful information. I would like to see a picture of your Springer mix dog cause I have a Springador (Labador/Springer Spaniel). He looks like a black lab until you give him a bath when his coat gets wavy. 💜💜💜💜 this video !!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😊 My golden retriever/cocker spaniel? There's pictures of him on Instagram. He basically looks like a mini golden retriever when his hair is long, but more like a cocker spaniel after a haircut 🥰 and your dog sounds adorable! 😊
Thank you for another informative video on python care of shedding. I need more humid hides have a Nelson's Milk Snake that has problems shedding, I think it's because the heat is on in house and that has tendency to bring down over all humidity in the house. GOD BLESS and have a great weekend.
Awww well I hope you get it all sorted out. My husband has been working on a DIY humid hide video, and it's halfway there, but we've been so busy 😅 Hopefully we'll get that one wrapped up soon 😊 have a fantastic week! 🥰
As a new noodle mom my girls just going through her first shed. Her tummy is starting to turn bluey purple, and the vet confirmed she’s about to shed. Poor girls also sick. So I gotta get her eye cap off before she sheds again. I don’t want it to build up. Let’s hope our first shed together goes okay now that I’ve got her humidity and stuff right and she’s eating regularly now. So let’s hope. If not then my goal is her next shed after this to come off in one piece since I’m not sure this one will since she had issues last time due to poor husbandry
Video so insightful my ball python is a male that's about 2 years old he is never had a complete shed it's always in pieces I've done everything from soaking him to doing a humidity hide which he uses The shed is always in pieces is this normal
We have had our fancy ball python now for 10 weeks now and she still has not shed yet. She did finish a shed a few days before we brought her home, but nothing since. She eats every five days and is gaining weight but no shed. We were told baby ball pythons shed every 4-6 weeks. Her temp is at 80-90degrees, and humidity is usually around 50%. Should the humidity be higher? Is it bad that she hasn’t she yet?
GUYS PLEASE HELP!!! Ive got a wooden vivarium in which i have one side a heat mat set at 33.c with a thermostat and the other side is the cool side with no sort of heating and my substrate is aspen... my problem is ive put my thernomiteron the warm side and it is on 29 degrees Celsius and on the cool side its stuck at 19 degrees how do i raise the temperature on the cool side??!!
@@ellesreptiles hi I’ve got one more question I’m going to be feeding my ball soon and from what I’ve heard, they say I need to feed at night What do I do if the snake is in his hide and won’t come out Do I take him out? Do I just leave the food there or do I wait until he does?
My ball python is having a bad shed. It's coming off really slow in little pieces. He still has a lot left on him. I've been keeping the humidity higher than usual. Should I give him a bath or wait?
4:05 when one of my ball python was gonna shed his eyes turned cloudy then after a couple of days it went away but then two days later he started shedding 🤷🏼♀️
@Josh Ainsworth alright thanks. My grandma is terrified of them so I couldn’t get one she said a beardie is fine. Sad to hear about your first ball python hopefully went to a good home.
@@ellesreptiles also when holding him he’s not trying to get away but he is super active climbing up my arm and so on this is normal right ? This is my first BP by the way !!!!
Baths should be used as a ‘last resort’, as they’re stressful and there are better alternatives. One alternative is to basically do a warm bath but with damp/wet paper towels instead of water.

For the humidity box you should wet the box and put it in the warm end
Thanks a mill for this. Perfect info

@@ellesreptiles hi

Do I just leave the food there or do I wait until he does?

I like the new music
Mines like incredibly chill while shedding
My BP has really patchy sheds where chunks get stuck on him and I have to peel him
Hey! What camera are you guys using right now?
Do you throw the shed in the trash?
Can you help ???? My snake has stuck shed in those things on her mouth Idk to do with it
Nice vid Elle.😀👍🇦🇺💚🇺🇸🦎
Hey do you have a dog I was wondering that yesterday? How all your other lizards !
I have two! 😊 A German Shepherd and a golden retriever/cocker spaniel mix.
And the lizards are all great 😊
Alas! I am smitten! 🥰 What a stunning Royal. The Pythons are fetching too. ☺️

Do you recommend warm baths during this shed time?
Baths should be used as a ‘last resort’, as they’re stressful and there are better alternatives. One alternative is to basically do a warm bath but with damp/wet paper towels instead of water.

don’t use aspen for ball pythons. lady who has 20 snakes at my neighborhood pet store said ‘oh no no no no no’ when i asked
Why?
I just got my ball python and she just had a full peace shed and she ate the first night I got her
