China has been investing and building houses and infrastructure in all its border regions for decades, with state of art roads, bridges, power grids, 5G networks, gas pipelines, logistical connections, and even factories.

As a result, Russia's need to depend on China grows, and Russia is unable to intercede between China and India. The future is murky.
