    I work on coffee machines. I often refer to the Starbucks machine as "the Voltron of coffee machines" to my clients. That's because it is 5 individual modules that come together to form one coffee maker.

      You should really mess with their heads and start yelling "Gocoffee" when using it.

    Both of my brothers had Voltrons and I vaguely remember playing with it in my youngest memories of toys. I never had one of my own, but I've seriously considered just biting the bullet and getting one for my shelf.

    Just scored 3 full sets of 1981 goloins on ebay in one auction! Sadly no weapons but heck it's a great start to the Voltron collection. I love the enthusiasm in this video, keep up the great work!

    The afternoons of my youth were spent with my brother and I watching GI Joe, Transformers, He-Man, Thundercats and Star Blazers (remember that one?) but VOLTRON (yes all caps) was different.... When we finally saved enough to buy the knock-off version we DISPLAYED that shit for visitors to see LMAO!
    The day the "Cars" version came on TV, I died a little.

      Funny thing is I can't even remember what happened to mine. I just remember playing them when I was 5 years old before going to afternoon Kindergarten everyday. Sometimes my Super Powers figures would join forces with Voltron and fight the Joker ('cause that was the only bad guy I had at that time).

    Woohooooooooo. Retro!
    I never was into this as a kid, as I don't remember the cartoon ever being on in the UK. My friend did have this and I thought that it was neat. It does look cool and is seriously stimulating my already over-active nostalgia gland. I may pick this up someday.

    • @SecretGalaxyTV
      @SecretGalaxyTV  8 років тому

      I guess it just didn't really hit the UK. A few folks have mentioned that. The 2008 Toynami one is REALLY nice. Voltron and all the lions are a bitter trimmer but WAAAAAY more poseable.

    • @SecretGalaxyTV
      @SecretGalaxyTV  8 років тому

      Thanks! It just bugged me that they tried to say that both robots were called Voltron. Come on, they don't even resemble each other.

    • @Butterfest
      @Butterfest 8 років тому +1

      Right!
      I hated the vehicle Voltron because the Airplane that forms the chest piece - the most awesome of all 15 vehicles there - was piloted by a GIRL! (yeah, girls had cooties in my head back then)
      We had a slew of giant robot cartoons down here, and i loved 'em all... but i really REALLY hated vehicle Voltron.
      Also, the toy? -yeah, that 15th plane would NEVER stay in place... NEVER. It was the first piece i lost outta that monstrosity.

    • @SecretGalaxyTV
      @SecretGalaxyTV  8 років тому +2

      I always thought the idea of *15* pilots being inside a giant robot was a bit crowded.

    This is the most unique Voltron video I've ever seen! :D

    • @SecretGalaxyTV

      Voltlion. I've never seen that before. Love it.

    • @bartdman95
      @bartdman95 8 років тому +1

      I also I like to add, the tag line was " Protector of the Galaxy". :) The font used was similar to Voltron's.
      Sadly I don't have any photo evidence to show. :D I'll just describe the bag i saw it on. It was a type of backpack bag where the the head was one piece of plastic, colored to the detail. And the rest of the robot was painted on the black bag. :D I really do hope someone was able to document this bootleg bag and post it on the web. :)

    Lion Voltron was the best and will always be my favorite!! He is so right what he was saying bout it cause that year for Christmas I picked Voltron over the devastator from Transformers and even though I loved transformers and it's one of my other favorites from back in the day it's just something bout Voltron that just blows everything else away!! OMG!!! So Iconic and made of real Diecast metal!! He will never be forgotten!! So much fun back then!! So glad I experienced growing up in the 80's and 90's it was like a magical time in history that will never happen again!!

      @hosstheslop. I still have the Lead Version of the Yellow Lion. We bought a Matchbox Voltron from Children Palace and the yellow one has Go Lion stickers instead of the Matchbox stickers. I guess Bandai put a Go Lion piece in there instead, it even has the number on it that proves it was supposed to be recalled. Package had never been opened.

    Also,to answer your question at the end of the video - they did make 5 dragons in Voltron 3D to form Dracotron but he went rogue. In the Vehicle Voltron crossover called 'Fleet of Doom'(Lol,isn't every fleet by King Zarkon and the Drules are?),Lotor got the Lo-tron..Fuck it! I'll call it the Primal-tron Robeast to attack both Vehicle and Lion Voltrons at the same time.

    As a small kid in the UK in the early 1980s, my dad got cable and Voltron popped up on the childrens channel which now thinking about it was not PC, a robot chopping in half its opponents was awesome and violent. Funny I was watching Voltron and I realized Power Rangers were doing the same thing in their shows. Meaning, the show always ended with the bad guys making the monster big at the end of the show. The Power Rangers combining into the Megazord like Voltron. A quick fight and then the giant monster is defeated.

  • @ZZtheDark
    @ZZtheDark 8 років тому

    Voltron,mothertruckers!! Hey,have you watched the new series?! It's awesome!! It's one of the best reps of Voltron next to Voltron 3D. Tbh,Voltron 3D is at least not as confusing nor ugly as Voltron Force. I dunno why people complain about 3D. At least it continued the original series but without the family tree confusions of Allura and continued to delve into the technology of the lions and stuck to the source material as much as possible while Voltron Force....is ugly. At least 3D brought back the original voice acting team together again. What more do these haters want?
    Also,Golion is gonna have a Soul Of Chogokin in December. :)

    I had this. The arm lions' tails were a bit too fragile and broke off, making the arms difficult to keep on. Also, the green lion fell on the kitchen floor one day and its head shot off behind the deepfreeze. There should have been nowhere for it to go, yet it vanished forever. Even after a kitchen remodel that saw the entire floor being ripped up, that lion head never resurfaced. 😔
    Surf Wisely.

    I grew up watching Voltron I and III in the 80’s. What a glorious time to be a kid! I had Voltron II that no one had ever heard of (including me) because they were cheap compared to the lions and the cars. I remember finding them marked down at Children’s Palace and was eventually able to buy all three. Great toys and so well built compared to their modern all-plastic peers of today. Go Voltron Force!

    This video made me so stinking happy! I grew up with Voltron, the U.S. production company that turned Go Lion into Voltron is from where I grew up. I have this 85 Matchbox combiner, along with a 84 Panosh Place combiner, 97 Trendmaster combiner, both new and old 2016 Mattel combiners, the 2018 SDCC Bluefin model kit combiner, a custom lego minfig Voltron, the Lego Voltron combiner, and the Funko Pop classic Voltron. My two holy grail's would be the Soul of Chogokin Voltron combiner, and the 2012 Matty Collector Voltron combiner. Yeah, I love Voltron.

    This Voltron toy is hot! Voltron Vehicle Team on the other hand is a major let down. He has no diecast and is extremely fragile. There's no guarantee he'll hold together properly after age. The next thing you know, you're gonna end up buying a replacement part for him over and over again and still you can't win. That's what makes Lion Force Voltron so unique.

    Damn Dan! The passion you had for Voltron... I feel ya man. When I learned that this existed I BEGGED my parents for 2 long and agonizing years for it. I did everything and anything to show my parent I deserved it. And about a little over the 2 years I finally got it!
    And then I dropped it and broke the red lion. 😭😭😭 But damn it I wasn’t the happiest kid for having Voltron when I did.
    Now I need to find another one, just because of you Dan! Thanks.

      You're welcome. My personal story is that I was lucky enough to have parents that recognized cool stuff when they saw it. I was living in Japan at the time and didn't know Golion from Combattler V (that's not true). My point is, Voltron was something that my parents saw and thought that they should be. It's not something we had asked for. We just woke up to it on Christmas on year. THEN we learned who he was and what he did.
      Then we came back to the US and watched as everyone called him the wrong name.

    That Voltron is in beautiful condition, makes me wish I still had mine from childhood, but he's long gone. Great review!

      Thanks! It's in nice condition, just wish I could find the darn sword. I have some of the other accessories (the blades and stuff that go in the lion's mouths) but I don't think it's 100% complete.

    I had all of the Voltrons. Yes, even the three stacking robots that nobody ever gave a damn about -- it was a Voltron, I had to have it! The Lion version was the first one for me, and was always my #1. The vehicle version was also pretty cool but a bit over-complicated -- wasn't there like fifteen vehicles or something ridiculous like that? And then the Human Centipede Voltron which didn't even get its own TV show, soooooooo lame!

      Vehicle Voltron had 15 vehicles. 5 Land, Sea, and Air and they each combined into 3 individual super Air, Land, and Sea Vehicles (5 per) and also combined into Voltron. It was awesome.

    As a kid, I built the later 12" Lion Force Voltron. I had never watched a single episode of any of the shows. Voltron didn't need it. I'm glad the new show is great though, as I yet again have an avenue on which to project my Voltron love.

    The full-size metal Matchbox Voltron was around when I was a kid, but it was my brother's. I received the plastic one which wasn't as good, but the pilot figures were great. I also had the castle. I was way more into Voltron and other non-sports things than my brother. One of my favorite pieces though was the 5-6 inch Matchbox Voltron, which I found in storage a long while back and it's been on display ever since. And it still has a good amount of its original lead paint. I don't think I ingested any, though that might explain a few things. Either way, a recall is only good if you know about it.
