So true, Nathan. There’s always so much to learn in aviation, and a LOD on a checkride can be a wake up call to us in an area we are deficient. I still remember some of the mistakes I’ve made in checkrides, years after I made them, and it’s made me a safer, more knowledgeable pilot🙂
I've taken 2 checkrides, about to take my 3rd. And my attitude has always been this: if I'm deficient in some area, I absolutely would rather fail the checkride so that I can correct that area rather than pass and be under the illusion that I performed well. I think this is driven by the fact that I'm not trying to make aviation into a career. If I were I think there'd be a lot more "failure is not an option" pressure.
Excellent advice Nathan!
